on Manoa Falls Trail

Lovely short hike up to the amazing falls. $5 for parking at trailhead and was fairly busy on a Monday 10th December. The path is very easy to follow and is a little slippy at times and rather muddy.

Muddy, in and out of rivers, forests, all kinds of trees and flowers with a beautiful waterfall at the end! Not very physically difficult but it is slippery and that can slow you down a bit, increasing time to about 3-4 hours. So worth it! One of my favorites

So Beautiful but so heavily trafficked. Go super early on a rainy day. Very easy

Very muddy , but other then that really liked this hike very pretty . Took my 9 year old and 7 year old and they did really good with this hike

Great, rewarding, steep hike. If you go on a partly cloudy or cloudy day you will only see mist towards the tops of the ridges and not much of a view. When you reach the set of stairs and think you’re done, you’re not. When you next think you’re done, nope, keep going. Ah, finally! You have reached the top. Just kidding another false alarm! I think the last 45 minutes up we kept thinking we MUST have reached the top as there were no other higher peaks around us. The clouds are deceiving. We plan to go back on a sunny day. A few parts with ropes but you don’t really need them to climb. I would recommend this hike

an easy but muddy trail. beautiful waterfall at the end after a wonderful jungle like trail. saw many folks with inadequate footwear...this trail has muddy slippery spots! please dress properly and keep an easy hike fun.

It was raining and windy, but the views were totally worth it. The trail can be slippery when wet so would recommend good shoes.

I went right after sunrise and was the only person on the trail. It felt like I had been dropped into another world! The foliage was incredible and the views were wonderful. I would highly recommend this trail but a few things to know: 1. Bring bug-spray! There are tons of mosquitos 2. The trail is very very slippery even when it hasn’t rained in a while. It’s basically thin layers of mud on smooth rocks most of the way up. Wear shoes with grips and keep your hands free to help with balance in case you slip.

Nice easy trail along a 4WD dirt road. Go before sunset and bring headlights to come back out. Great sunset and no one else around

Nice trail for forest and H3 views. Moderately trafficked on a Sunday, and quite a few runners on the trail. We brought our dog, and even though he was worn out towards the end, it wasn't too hard for him. The ending is a little rough, very muddy. Very nice, well rounded hike.

Long, winding, but paved. Friendly hike, nice views of the ocean!

A nice and family-friendly hike that offers a beautiful waterfall as a prize at the end. Witnessed a proposal.

Great hike & nice cliff jump options at the end.

I enjoyed this one! flat and easy. I left a little late in the day and missed most of the sunset, will more than likely do this one again and go all the way around the point to take in all the views from the Ka'ena Point Trail (South) also. Only recommendation on this one is if you are heading out later in the day to catch the sunset bring a headlamp as the path back has several water hazards and can be a little tricky to navigate in the dark.

The inner trails are more fun for mountain bikers.

This ridge hike on east Oahu shares many similiar features and views with other hikes nearby like Waahila-Olympus, Ka’au Crater, Mau’umae/Lanipo, Wailupe Ridge, Hawaii Loa Ridge, Kulepeamoa Ridge, Kuliou’ou Ridge ( both east and west), Hahaione ( there are several ways to do hike this), Kamiloiki Ridge, Mariners Ridge ( closed) and Kamehame Ridge ( need permit). You can also start from the Makapuu Lookout and hike along the Koolau Summit via the Makapuu Tom Tom trail which passes the Makapuu Puka. These are just some of the more popular ones on east Oahu.

Give about 3-3.5 hrs to complete this hike.

Did this back in March with mom and brother, absolutely gorgeous and easy hike. When we went there were a lot of people at the waterfall end but the small trek was well worth it for how beautiful it was during.

This one was a little tough especially since I Uber there and the driver would only take me so far. But it was all worth it for the amazing views that this trail provided. I would do it again!

One of the easiest way to get to the top of the Koolau Range. Today it might be the easiest route since they already closed Mariners Ridge and Kamehame Ridge to the public. Oh well if you are too lazy to walk, just drive up to the Pali Lookout and you can boast to all your friends you made it to the top of the Koolaus!

This is definitely not a difficult trail unless this is your first ever hike in your entire lifetime.

This hike will take anywhere from 2.5-3
hrs to complete on a walking pace.

Awesome one!

Good family hike and beautiful views. Didn’t think the waterfall was very impressive but the walk through the trees and foliage were awesome. Bring $5 cash for parking.

Pretty views and hike

People weren’t kidding about those mosquitos! In this climate though, they’re unavoidable, and the uphill trek was so much fun and so beautiful. Definitely have to come back for a longer hike and try out some of the other trails that branch off. There are a few sections of the trail that are interrupted by Maunalaha Stream, but these breaks in the trail aren’t large and are easily navigable.

Enjoyed this hike. Pretty flat and easy. Not much shade, bring water and sunscreen. Takes a while to get to the wildlife reserve for birds at the end. Monk seals were on the beach in a couple spots. Also, the mountain and ocean view is beautiful at the end. Not too busy due to the wide paths. Be aware a decent amount of people have a pass to drive on the path.

Still one of the best hikes on the island. Safe hike some muddy areas. Nice waterfall at the end. There are additional trails near the top but they are pretty long so be prepared if you plan on hiking to the top.

nice view of the mountains and h3. muddy at the end. not too difficult and wasn't too busy. pretty safe hike.

Just finished this beautiful hike (12/1/18) Absolutely gorgeous when you hit the end and we were lucky enough to see a pup seal basking in the sun!

P.S. also if any kind soul happens to find a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, I'll be on Oahu until Tuesday! email me @ kathy7583@aol.com. Mahalo

Kind of a boring hike compared to other hikes in oahu but nice for families

Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trail is a paved and and scenic trail. You are given unobstructed picturesque views of the ocean, diverse terrain, and of course the historic lighthouse. Makapu'u Point Lighthouse was once an imperative navigational guide, and now it is a beautiful piece of architecture that everyone should experience in person. There are some other separate unpaved trails toward the top of the paved trail that lead to some pill boxes and offer opportunity to be more adventurous. I would suggest doing this trail shortly after it opens (I believe 7 am) as the parking fills up quickly. I recommend this trail for all skill levels and even families.

Fantastic and fun Hike. View at the top doesn’t disappoint.
