Sorry, Colorado, this is my favorite hike that I’ve ever done. And one of the hardest. There are quite a few rope sections that require a fair amount of skill. But the views are totally worth it. We didn’t hike to the second or third peak but that was because we were told the first peak had the best views and we were pretty exhausted by the time we got there.

You can park on the side of Auloa road and walk to the trailhead past the guardpost for the golf club. (Just make sure not to park on the sidewalk at all! I got a 35$ ticket for my front wheel being on the sidewalk). Be sure to wear sturdy hiking boots - the trails are extremely muddy which makes it fun but not tennis shoe friendly. And bring some sandals to put on after - you’ll thank me later.

It’s pretty fun, and the falls is worth the trip. A couple beautiful spots for photos along the way. It’s totally muddy, but so is everything!!!!

A little muddy, but ok. Beautiful foliage and loved that we did not see another person the entire hike.

This trail was very beautiful. Lots of breathtaking views and it is not a hard hike. The trail can be really muddy so bring shoes you don't mind getting dirty.

great undergrowth and tropical forest views, not many vista views

NEW ROPES!!!
Just did this hike yesterday with my wife and friend. We hiked out around 0400 to make it for sunrise at the 1st peak. You have to walk through the gate to the golf course which may or may not be locked depending on the time. There may or may not be a guard as well. Not to worry as they will pass you through and tell you the trail is about a 1/4 mile up off to the left. You can’t miss the sign. Made it faster than we thought hiking in the dark. We made it in about an hour, so we waited for sunrise for awhile and made some coffee with my jet boil during sunrise. Clear night with a cool breeze so it made it an awesome time. Views were spectacular at night. Did this hike a few times already but always during the day. My goal was to replace the sketchy ropes and straps that were their on the 2nd peak. You will now find that there is a 3k lb tow strap connected by heavy duty steel D rings attached to 500 lb synthetic yellow rope with anchor points every 1.5 ft. on the rope. It’s 200ft of rope and gets you exactly to the bottom of the 2nd peak. 3rd peak didn’t really need any ropes to be replaced. There are two stopping points going down the 2nd peak. You will notice these points. It’s basically where some of the old ropes ended or tied off. I caution everyone going down one at a time due to break limits on ropes. You can stop and yell up for the next person to come down at each of the stop points. You can’t miss it. You can’t miss the bright yellow rope as well. I tried to make it a bit safer so I hope everyone enjoys.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING VIEWS!
The beginning of the hike was muddy but very mild. Maybe a third of the way up, the hike got quite a bit steeper but was still relatively easy. The top third of the hike has a bit of rock climbing with ropes to help you get up. You’ll know you’re near the top once you are climbing the spine, where you see cliffs straight down on both sides of you.
Once you reach the top, you’ll see the most absolutely stunning views of Oahu. 100 percent worth it! Leave yourself enough time to get down before sunset or you’ll be doing some rock climbing in the dark!

Beautiful trail, reasonably interesting and moderately challenging (any trail I can hike in my swimsuit is not hard...). Would give it 5 but it was somewhat crowded with teens playing music loud enough you couldn’t ignore it (bah I’m old and want to hear the nature)

I loved this hike! Definitely bring shoes that u dont care for since it will get super muddy. Bring bug spray because there are LOTS of bugs. I got bit everywhere. I’d recommend starting the hike around noon or early afternoon the latest. Make sure u dont stay there when it gets dark because it’s easy to get lost. The waterfall is nice and there’s an area you can jump from. Also, make sure you bring covers for your car and/or extra clothes so you dont get your car ruined or muddy.

It was my first ever hike. Two days ago. Still paying for it:) It was marked pretty well, and incredibly beautiful. Oh ya, and definitely don’t go after a rain. It gets pretty slippery and super muddy.

Amazing hike, a little dangerous but the views are worth it.

Great easy trail with an amazing waterfall at the end! Second half was a little steep but nothing a hiking newbie couldn’t handle. It is on private property but as long as you’re respectful it isn’t a problem.

Not too difficult, but definitely you will need a hiking boots. Gets slippery after the rain. No scenic views, since you are going through the woods. However the waterfall is amazing.

Everyone is right. Super muddy and is a challenge to not fall because of it. Super rad hike through a very cool forest and some cool lookout spots. Wear shoes you don’t care about or water shoes. Do not wear flip flops, several people did and ended up walking barefoot.

Such an awesome trail. The third peak is intimidating but it isn’t as difficult as it looks- as long as you aren’t afraid of heights, you’re wearing the right shoes, you have a bit of climbing experience and the third peak is dry, you should be able to make it up and down safely. There are ropes just about everywhere you’d need them and they felt safe. There was only one technical spot on the third peak that felt sketchy on my way down. Planning to climb it again sometime soon

If you want a real life jungle book hike that ends with waterfalls, rope swings, and cliff jumping then this is a MUST DO. This was the most fun I have ever had on a hike! It was a decent workout getting to the waterfall area and it felt like a little party over there with people flipping off cliffs and swinging on the ropes. BRING SWIMMING SHORTS or BATHING SUITE!

The climb out can feel steep at times but just keep churning those legs as it is doable incline up the enormous tree roots.

Great hike with some breathtaking views and a rewarding swimming hole at the very end. Bring a walking stick and definitely do not attempt if it’s rained recently!

Humid and muddy, excellent views , we did see a waterfall. Took us approximately. 2 hours. I am currently out of shape and would rate it challenging for me. The experienced hiker of the group rates it as moderate due to the slippery mud factor after the recent rains. Very lightly trafficked. We went on a Sunday and saw only 2 other hikers. I agree with other posters, park at the beach down the street.

Did not hike so I cant speak about the hike.
$16.85 to hike.
perhaps we missed access point for trail hike?

muddy when we went but the hike is great.
well worth the work when you get to the falls.
great swimming hole even if your not into jumping off low, med or high jumping spots.

Overall a great trail. Two of us and our two dogs completed it. A couple of updates from some of the other comments.

Definitely park at the beach park. No real room to park at the entrance without trashing someone’s lawn. Plus it gives you a place to rinse off afterwards.

Definitely bring bug spray

Definitely hike the loop in a clockwise manner

There were no trees blocking the trail.

It was muddy but we just had some pretty big rain storms the past week. Wear shoes with a good grip and you don’t mind getting dirty

The “water fall” is only about 6-8 feet tall and you are actually higher than it as you walk by.

great hike, all 3 peaks are possible to climb. you‘ll have the best view from the first peak. during walking through the forest, it could be a bit slippery and dirty.

We went today and it rained last night, the trail was muddy and slippery. It was hard but worth it, bring a change of clothes.

worth it

It’s a great hike for beginners. Half way through you have a really pretty view of the H3.
