The gorge trail is closed for the winter months.

I went there yesterday and it was the bees knees. The beginning portion was very easy to navigate but it got real icy about midway through. The packed snow/ice normally wouldn’t have been an issue for me however it was one of those semi warm days so the ice started to melt making it really slick. I could only imagine how funny it was for other hikers watching me crawl the trail as my bald boots slid while they walked it with ease. Definitely recommend pointy trekking poles and or spikes for your shoes if you don’t wanna embarrass yourself. The waterfall itself was absolutely stunning. Icicles and mist from the water really added to the natural beauty of the waterfall itself. As an added bonus i got to slide down the hill on my butt on my way back. 11/10 would return

Beautiful quick hike

hiked with mom and dog today, the trail was still pretty snowy but absolutely stunning. not a long hike but definitely a must-see !

So much fun, and beautiful views! Went when there was still snow on the ground, would not recommend - very slick.

If you start at the opposite end from Buttermilk, the trail is gorgeous and there are very few people.

Beautiful hike today in the snow. The waterfall was maybe even more spectacular than the last time I came in the middle of summer. Icicles and snow really added to the beauty. The trail was definitely slick (more packed snow than ice); spikes or poles would be a good choice.

Nice trail with good scenery.

Awesome place!

Beautiful breath taking view!

I hiked this in winter. The water falls are so beautiful. The trails are perfect. We did the entire 4.6 mile look and stopped halfway at a picnic area to have a snack. If it is this pretty in the winter, I cant wait to come back in the spring. Oh, the rim trail was open, the gorge trail was not (due to ice) but the view we had were still spectacular!

I did this trail in the Spring. The key is to get there early, because it will be packed. If solitude is more what you prefer when hiking, this is not the trail for you. That being said, the beauty of the gorges and waterfalls on this trail is worth dealing with the crowds. Definitely worth the price to get in.

This was one of the most beautiful trails I've ever done. This was one of the stops on our road trip from Michigan to Maine. I'm so glad we did it!

This was a lovely hike!

We hiked it on a bizarrely warm day in February with a small chihuahua.

There were difficult moments peppered into what was overall a moderate difficulty level. Pretty icy in the winter and for our warm day there was a ton of mud that got you slipping and sliding. You must be careful on this hike but with some good boots you’re ok. Hang onto the trees! Go topside to avoid the ice patches. Some ice patches are hidden under lots of mud so be careful.!

But again, we were with a chihuahua so it couldn’t be so hard, right?

Waterfall lookout at the top is beautiful. I wish there were picnic tables or something but we found a goood rock to snack upon.

So many stairs. But pretty and doable.

The middle section (after the initial rock scramble ) turns into a gorgeous sloping up and down adventure.

Trailhead from the road says something like “preservation” so be careful not to miss it. Parking lot gets super crowded but people are in and out all day so if you just wait a flash you’ll get a spot. A small bit of walking along the highway to get to the trail.

Crowded at the trailhead but winds up being pretty private because of all the space. A small moment of oh-my-god-cliffs. Just hang on. It’s short-lived.

Would do again any day. So would Puppito.❤️

Beautiful! Just watch out for the ice under the snow if you go in winter.

As advertised, very easy, but an unbelievably scenic stroll. Some dirt trials so wear boots if raining

The parking lot was like a frozen pond. all of the thick ice was covered by fresh snow so I didn't know until I tried to stop and kept going. Luckily I was able to carefully turn my car around and there was traction on the one side of the parking lot. The cell service is spotty so I don't know if I would have been able to call for a tow truck. The mountain was the same way. Some parts looked like a frozen waterfall(not a bad thing). I had ice spikes so it didn't slow me down. My dog had some trouble but it gave me a few laughs. Overall the hike was short but rewarding. The only downside was all the graffiti on the cabin and the tower. It's sad that people can't respect the property for other people to enjoy.

Easy trail with no technical parts, wide open and simple to follow. Went in January and was still in good condition and easily hikeable until we got to the lake where it was icy.

Steep portions have turned icy with the brief thaw/freeze. Micro-spikes worked fine on the way up, switched to crampons for the descent. Enjoyable hike. Summit was bare (no snow/ice). Had the mountain to myself until the return trip when I passed 2 other hikers.

Was worried that the trail would be too slippery and icy with the warmer weather during our hike, but wasn't bad at all. Be prepared for lots of people and dogs, but a nice quick hike with beautiful scenery that never gets old!

I've visited this park twice and it never disappoints. This is a must in the fall!

Hiked w micros after a 26 below F Sunday morning followed by couple inches of rain 48 hours before. Snow set up good for micros would need more snow for snowshoes. First time up the red east trail and down the longer looped yellow north trail. Great views from tower. Worth a couple hours on the woods on a cold mid January day.

Beautiful trails! I was there on 1/1/18 and the falls were gorgeous!

Always a nice mini-hike, depressing to see what vandals have done to the cabin.
