The waterfall itself is magnificent, and the bridge adds a unique vantage point and looks pretty cool in photos too. I gave it 3 stars because unless you come super early or super late, you’re going to be with hundreds of other people. If you can manage to come when there’s little to no crowds, it’s easily a 5 star waterfall.

awesome, grin a bare the last 2miles. But it's worth it!
Take food and water for lunch at the top

We visited today with our two-year-old. While the hike above/after the bridge is closed, we had a nice quarter-ish mile walk up to the bridge, which is a main viewing point of the falls. Had a kid in a carrier backpack going up the hill, so the round trip was brief, but still made us break a little sweat. Uphill walk but nicely paved. Expect a crowd on the bridge. Parking lot leads right to the falls, so you can’t miss it. Only giving four starts bc main hike was closed and the first viewpoint should be marked as a separate east hike.

I've hiked to Punchbowl Falls several times and it's a great hike. The trail is currently closed due to a fire a year ago. When it opens, I want to continue up to Tunnel Falls which I think turns it into about 11 or 12 miles. Heavy traffic on the weekends.

Somewhat steep and tricky descent to the beach, and challenging (for me) coming back up, but totally worth it! We had the beach completely to ourselves and enjoyed exploring. Started on the trail at about 8 and only saw 1 person until we were heading back to the parking lot around 9:30.

great low key hike!

Great hike - be prepared that it's all up hill going out. The ending is worth it though!

Amazing trail. Loved it. We loved the cove at the far end of the beach. Definitely coming back.

Beautiful!

Went early in the morning, less crowded. Fantastic view from top. Lots of switchbacks.

Flowers and the view here are great, also a nice easy trail to bring older family on.

CLOSED TODAY DUE TO “DANGEROUS CONDITIONS”.

Signs at the trail head still say closed. The area that “closed” the trail is a dried washed out creek. Easily crossed considering the the rest of the hike takes good footing with loose rock. Also passed the park workers replacing the bridge. Second time hiking this, always love the burn towards the top. Bug spray would be helpful :)

Steep but rewarding hike. Get there early on a weekend to avoid the crowds. I wish I would have brought trekking poles; there are many areas with loose gravel going up.

Great hike, super easy but great views for not a ton of effort. Beware though - we saw (not exaggerating) probably 20+ different rat snakes along the trail. They were harmless, but still... snakes.

This trail can be challenging near the beach where it is steepest, but it’s worth it if you are going to enjoy the beach for a bit. The beach was almost empty when I hiked to it.

WARNING: Too busy as we were passing through. Exit 28 currently does not go through to the lodge. The road is closed. We heard from others that the bridal veil falls we stopped at we’re just as pretty, but not as tall.

The trail was fun, a bit technical with lots of exposed roots and some steep spots, but nothing too gnarly. And the wide open beach at the bottom is definitely worth it. Would hike this one again next time I’m on the coast.

Saw the sign that said 1.25miles. Figured it would be a short pretty hike and a good fit for an inexperienced hiker. I wasn't wrong but I'm amazed I did it. A lot of up and down hill. A lot of switch backs. Fairly steep at places. A lot of roots to step over and between. Not good for anyone with mobility issues or knee trouble. That said, the challenge was worth it. I'm 300lbs and out of shape but I was able to run the trail at places. It was a blast. The views are amazing. The beach is gorgeous and has some cool stuff to check out, especially at low tide. You can also continue on to Cannon Beach if you are so inclined.

Was hoping to do the hike to the top of the falls, but it was still closed off from the fire. The short quarter mile walk up to the bridge is easy. It was crowded on the bridge but beautiful falls!

Absolutely amazing beach. Probably my favorite! Last quarter mile is steep but I was able to do it even having a sprained knee. My 3 year old did it also, so it's not too bad. We hiked north on the beach and found some cool caves that the kids loved exploring. Just make sure to look at the tide schedule if you walk very far down the beach.

Beautiful falls, easy to see but super crowded.... We went on a weekday morning and still had to wait to get into the bridge. Glad we saw it... But wouldn't do it again

Did the 1.8 out and back. Beautiful waterfall, pretty busy. Top portion of the trail (6 mi) closed.

Is the trail open ? I see a lot of recent reviews. We fly into Portland the 13th next month and this is number 1 on our list.

great trail for kids!

Arrived about 11am and was perfect timing as a handful of the early morning hikers just arriving back to the parking lot so got a close spot. trail is well thought out zigzagging up the first 45 minutes into the hike or about half way. good thi g as it saved some energy for the 2nd half that was much needed. beautiful views trail are a challenge if you dont stay on the metal fencing they have nailed into the ground. at one point a bridge had broken and was very slick leaning to the down hill side, so just be aware and go slow. this hike is hard not hard for the avg hiker. so many ages and body types through out the day. dont be discouraged as the views are amazing and the feeling of success us even better. enjoy as I will do this hike again.

Great hike with beautiful views of Mounts Rainier, St Helens, Adams and Hood. The wires are great for traction but there are a lot of broken wires that might not be good for smaller dogs.
