I love this hike! I go all the way around! You can hike the creek bed. Along the waterfall.
It is busy at times. But, overall it is a great place to hike.

Going in as one of my favorites! The cliff rocks. The foliage. The lizards. The cave! The lake! It is definitely a moderate hike. Steep in places. Close to the edge in others. Loose rock, so good shoes needed. It is very worth the time tho.

Beautiful trail!

Great trail — good marking and beautiful views. Be sure to wear a shoe with a good rock plate as the surface is made up of many 1/2 to 1 inch rocks.

I only saw bikers but clear evidence of horse usage.

Oh, and you can make this longer — I added on a little extra leg to get to 10.5 miles — but I don’t see how you can make this a 7.5 mile trail. 8-9 as a default.

This was a beautiful trail, easy to find off the Buffalo River parking lot. The whole trail is in the woods and shady and it circles and goes though beautiful rock formations you can climb on or between. There is some incline to give it some difficulty, but overall I’d love to return with my kids! Beware poison ivy and ticks.

I’m here to write about ALL the trails at Lake Wedington!!
THEY ARE ATROCIOUS!! Someone needs to get this National Park in order. Shame on this park and the people that maintain it!! We traveled through the camp sites and the road had tree roots as big as my tire itself. Trails have not been maintained in years on the North side of the hwy. signs that the “TRAILS CLOSED” look like they’ve been there for years at the North side of road parking lot. After ignoring the sign and getting back in there. It looks like someone took a National Park hiking trail and turned it into a money making bike trail system. Tore the place up for sure. Very sad day for my wife and I getting in there to that mess. So much for the beauty of a National Park! SHAME ON THEM !

This trail is amazing, and I can’t believe that we haven’t been here before! It has history, varied terrain, a beautiful creek all along it, rock formations, a fantastic waterfall; we LOVED IT. Definitely will be back!

7/28/18 trail still closed for maintenance to reroute 1 mile of the trail.

Pretty easy hike. Unfortunately all of the streams and river were dried up so it made for dull sights. Trail was easy to follow and well marked. We were covered in a bunch of tiny ticks by the end of the trail even though we wore tick repellent. Probably a better hike to do in the spring when water is flowing and there aren’t as many ticks.

This is a great hike to take with kids! Lots to see and scramble on. This route has a connection that leads to the hatchery, deer leap trail, fire tower trail or river trail, so using the connections helps in finding the distance you want.

Nice easy hike. Make sure to bring tick repellent as we were covered when we left. Also keep an eye out for snakes. We ran into a large rattler on the trail near the river.

Do not discredit the hard trail rating. Very steep with loose rocky footing. Narrow paths poorly marked. Isolated. I used the map on this app and it worked well to find the trail. I enjoyed the challenge. Be prepared— this trail is difficult.

Wife and I just walked this on vacation. I wouldn’t call it a hike as much as a walk. Big hilly sections though. My suggestion when you get to the loop... go right. The pools in the picture were more the creek outside the trail though not in the trail.

Great little getaway for nature lovers!!!

This trail was great!! We took a 8 and 3 year old and had a blast! Be sure to pack your swim suit.

Did this trail in July of 2017. Loved it!!! Bring snacks, extra water and watch for rattlesnakes in the rocky area.

Nice hike through the woods. (I actually did the longer Little Clifty Creek trail.) Downgraded because the noise from the nearby shooting ranges was markedly audible for half the hike, as was traffic for about 3 miles of the hike; and there wasn't a nearby body of water at the end of the hike Note: There is a multi-trailhead parking about 2 miles down Townsend Ridge Rd, where one can access the Little Clifty or War Eagle trail; Townsend Ridge Rd is west on Rte 12 from the AllTrails designated trailhead.

Great trail!! A bit interesting for a 4,5,7 yr olds, but they still had a good time.

Beautiful trail and our dogs were worn out afterwards.

Time just flew by hiking this trail. Love seeing the water nearly every step of the way. The damn is great and this is a must see trail in ES.

Arkansas is so lovely! We enjoyed beautiful scenery in this historical area.

Beautiful, clearly marked trails, family and pet friendly!

My family enjoyed this hike. Water views throughout. Well maintained trails have enough traffic to make you feel like a part of a community but not so busy they feel congested.

There is a lot to like about this trail...elevation, distance, scenery...But I was a little disappointed in the fire tower providing zero view and having to cross the highway twice. Enjoyed the finish along the river.

Nice walk along the water. Don’t miss the path to the top of the rock overlooking the lake!

So beautiful! I came here with my three young children, and they didn’t want to leave! The trails are easy & safe for kids!

I really enjoy going there. I can hike, mountain Bike, kayak and paddle board. It has it all. They have rv spots and cabins for rent plus new biking cabins.

An easy trail that takes you across and along the creeks pretty much the entire trail. There is a beautiful waterfall and then a cable bridge on the opposite end of the trail. Very pretty area, and moderately popular as everytime I've gone there there were plenty of others roaming around. A great area to explore and kill an afternoon.
