We had a jeep and were able to drive in to avoid walking the dusty trail in. The view from the top was amazing and a must to go on the bridge and take some pics!

It was a nice view worth the hike. Went 9/23 started @ 930 finished @ 1230 sat up there for about 40 minutes to see the view & snack. The inclines can be a little tough on knees and stuff but keep your hands free to help climb a bit. Water for sure needed. If you go earlier I’m sure it’s not as hot

Really awesome to see the dwellings!

Great views on this hike. A challenging hike for someone not is shape but I still made it to the top.

Nice hike! You get some nice views from Mt Elden

Coming from 620’ above sea level, this was a real challenge. Glad we had 1 day in Flagstaff before making the trek. Had to make lots of stops along the way, in total took approx 7hr 4min (including stops). Well worth the hike, beautifully breathtaking. Would do again in a heartbeat!

Absolutely breathtaking! You have to walk a little less than a mile through sand to actually get to the trail but the hike itself and the scenery made it so worth it. There’s also three trial options of ranging length and difficulty, all leading to the bridge.

Just amazing and easy! Highly recommend, did the longest route.

Great hike. Fairly short. Small crowd since it was early Friday.

Great views. Worth the hike.

Great hike. Not too hard, shade, beautiful scenery.

Hard but definitely doable hike if you pace yourself. Lots of friendly people on the trail. The first time we went in June, it was super windy at the top. The most wind I have ever experienced. But last weekend in September, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. September is the month to go. Beautiful views even though there was a fire near Sedona that clouded up our views for a bit.

Go early to avoid the dust and crowds

I did this trail, and summited for the 8th or 9th time, a few days ago. Perfect weather day. Trail is in decent shape. Wet roots and rocks at about miles 1.25 to 3.00 make for slick conditions. Strong winds and extreme cold past the saddle; at least the winds kept the black flies away. Warm clothing including neck, head and hand gear will improve your comfort level. Too many dogs off leash for my liking!

This hike can be as hard as you make it. I’m not in the best hiking shape but I made it to the top. I hiked at a pace that I didn’t get too winded or burn my legs out, in other words very slowly. 5 hours up, 3 hours down. Lots of roots, rocks and people on the trail but everyone was friendly. Enjoy the highest peak in Arizona.

Gorgeous views. Very easy hike until the last quarter mile.

6 hours from snow bowl to summit and back amazing trail and definitely deserves the Hard category

Bring lots of water. It was very sunny when we went. Great views.

Would have given more stars but.......
If you follow the trail it is difficult, hot 100+, uncovered, and long stretches without water. At what appears to be the end of the trail, the way down to the creek is extremely unsafe (with a full pack) requiring navigation over a narrow ledge and 20ft drop.
If you follow the creek it is slow going and your battling loose rock, deep pools, bushwhacking through tons of poison ivy and spider webs, fallen wood and twigs which create trip hazards, and encounters with wildlife like snakes and spiders.
Next time I’ll check out the east entrance to the canyon and see if it is easier. The camping is great. Encountered many other people on the trail and deep in the canyon. I would do this again when the weather cools off. This would be a great hike 20-30 degrees cooler. Bring a fishing pole. Saw many large trout swimming in the deeper areas.

I would rate this hike as moderate due to the length and the steep scramble to the top.
The trail takes you through diverse terrain from desert to wooded forest.
Depending on the time of year, you should leave early. We left around 8:30A, (September 15) and by the time we completed the hike, the temp was 92F.

Great hike. Clearly not the easiest. Last time I did it, it was almost winter and got lost in the snow. This time around, path was really clear.
It does get hard when almost at the top, due to the lack of oxygen. Next time, i will bring one of those portable oxygen little bottle.
Trail can get crowded, but if you go early in the morning, it is usually good.

I can’t say I really cared for this trail much. I’ve literally never seen so many people on a trail in my life-ever
The hike itself was ok-nothing great. I don’t think it was difficult or overly strenuous at all. The only difficult thing I found was moving to the side of the trail to let people go by that were coming down as I was going up. I must have moved 100 times. I won’t be going back, this isn’t a trail I would recommend going to.

Beautiful scenic trail. I started at the mezcal trail head because the main trail head was way to crowded. It was a longer hike but well worth it.

Super easy and nice through the trees.

getting to and from the summit is a bit steep but after that the trail is a breeze. views from the top are nice and the caves are cool, kind of hard to miss really, just turn right once you reach the fork at the top of the trail...

went early morning, it was quite cold in the cave and nobody else was there, which was kinda cool but a bit scary too. there is no light at all in the cave aside from the entrance, and the air is stale and dry which can lead to dehydration. make sure you go with a buddy or with at least 2 different light sources. this is.not like any other hiking experience and definitely recommend despite feeling a bit disoriented once finished.

My go-to easy hike. I always start @ 6:30am to avoid the crowds. I make it a better workout by doing a double Loop. Clockwise, then counter-clockwise. Each loop takes 40-45 min.
