My rating is for the overall park, whereas the trail itself would perhaps be a 3.5 star. It is a well maintained and standard state park. My husband and I went on a very warm day in February, and the trail was very busy. It’s fantastic for most/all skill levels, and would be fun with children. I rather enjoy a more remote hiking experience, which this particular hike was not. With paved trails winding through the upper north country forest, and breaking open to a beautiful view of the Minnesota-Canadian border, and the thundering 130’ High Falls, I will have to return, to hike the other trails in a different season. Hiked this in the winter. The falls were mostly frozen. It was a beautiful scene. We hiked without ice cleats, but they certainly would have been helpful to have.

This is a quick and easy hike with plenty of photo opportunities! The suspension bridge is very cool!

Great short walk. Beautiful surroundings. We’re from Seattle just needed a little exercise from traveling.

Truly beautiful hiking area. There are some areas that are busy with people and some that are more quiet. Be a responsible pet parent and only bring your dog if they are good around lots people and other dogs. Bring your own water, no fountains.

Lovely! Easy enough for a 2 and 4 year old.

There was lots to explore. There were a few challenges but it was amazing! Loved this trail!

View is worth the whole hike! The side overlooking the isle Royale is amazing. Takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Great for kids.

This trail offers great views of the lake and bay. We hiked in August and overgrown vegetation was on parts of the trail. Bring bug spray!

great views. drive up the north shore was great.

It was very peaceful easy hike, the water was very calm, we had the beach all to our selves

The Bay was a little disappointing , it had a little opening to the bay, that was mostly rock, but still very peaceful

Manitou Falls was beautiful, however we could not walk the trail according to park staff due to washouts from high water. Only reason I have 3 stars is we went down to the lower falls and were able to hike around a bit. With a 4, 6, 8 year old we couldn’t stray from the path too much but it wasn’t even a mile worth of walking. Still a pretty area with the falls.

Beautiful falls at the end of an easy, well-paved trail. To enjoy the full experience make sure to cross the hanging bridge and follow the trail to the bottom of High Falls

Definitely for all skill levels. Paved the entire way. Great bucket list. If you’re wondering if it’s worth an hours drive if you’re around Lutsen area....yes, it is! Makes it worth the drive if you stop in Grand Marais and enjoy the town.

Beautiful trail with varying elevations. Take the steep stairs (there had to be 75+ stairs) down to the river before the falls. Very quiet, which I assume not many trek down because of these stairs. We had the river to ourselves for the entire time. On the way back up you’ll get a good leg workout! We did this after exploring High Falls.

The mile trail to the summit was tough, but doable. The view at the top was well worth it!!

A good waterfall to hike for (High Falls) that isn’t as crowded as Gooseberry. If you’re going to hit the other waterfalls, see them on the way - none are as impressive as High Falls. Also, a cool suspension bridge is just above the falls. P.S. Watch out for big scary black beetles flying around this time of year!

Nice easy hike. Our small dog made the whole trip from the campground up to the 5th falls with no problem. Some steep spots that were muddy and slick. The trail by the upper falls gets very close to the edge in some areas, so it can get a little scary if you're not into heights. Definitely watch your kids if you go to the upper falls! Overall a great hike!

Awesome falls, cool swinging bridge and nice elevation changes make for a good hour long hike.

Great waterfall views at both top and bottom of the waterfall. Nice easy hike in with a great path. Cool
Old suspension bridge you can cross and the falls have multiple view points to see down the river.

Great easy hike with multiple water falls, swimming holes, and paths through the woods.

Nice off-leash trail for dogs. Easy rolling trail, but very muddy right now.

Lake Kabetogama is beautiful so the loop in the middle of the trail is beautiful however I went in late June and it had recently rained so the mosquitos and bugs were RELENTLESS not allowing us to stop and enjoy it. Also if you are seeking wildlife this isn’t the best one at Voyageurs

Nice hike today we had a blast

Great Hike! Took about 2 hours with two adults, two kids (10 & 8) and a dog. This trail goes down to both Two Step Falls and the High Falls. It also continues to the High Falls observation bridge. It does not go to Cascade Falls. If you plan on going down to see both falls plan on about 500 steps.

Some good up and downs to get the heart pumping. Be careful of wet moss and wet rocks.
