Beautiful trails and waterfalls, great for a family hike. My kids spent a few hours splashing around in the river. What a fun day!

We only did the first 1.5 and it was very steep. Bring water for you and your pets! No views in that section of the trail.

this is more like a biking/running trail than leisure hiking. paved all the way. the lower part is nice and wooded, but the upper part follows a road on one side and a barn wire prison fence on the other. in the quiet moments between cars going by there were lesser goldfinches and even a bluebird.

this trail is beautiful and challenging

Gorgeous! Great hike with 2 bridges

nice relaxing trail. I love going in the fall with the amazing color changes of the trees and salamanders every where.

It's the beautiful place. Highly reccomend! Awesome place for family, horses riders, bicycles. There are a lot of trails there. So you can choose if it will be easy or not. There is waterfall what makes this place better. Reccomend

Easy, mostly wooded trail running along creek with great view of waterfall from nicely built overlooking deck at far end of loop.

We hiked this last April and it was gorgeous. At the time lots of poison oak and the trails were washed out on lower section.

Like many have said there are trees down on both sides of the loop, not to hard to climb over though. On the lower sections how ever one of the gorges that had a small stream running across that path got blocked debris and diverted the street down along the trail. So roughly 15 yards or so of the trail is washed out. In addition to some other erosion further along at another point that makes the trail very narrow on a pretty steep hill. If you’re thinking of doing the loop it’s advisable that you stay on the upper part.
Took about four hours to complete. Beautiful view at the end and along the way.

I really enjoyed this hike! Ground was level and beautiful views and ran into some salamanders on the trail. Will definitely do it again!

Wonderful trail with a beautiful view. It is long and is strenuous at parts. There are quite a few areas with downed trees. It took 4.5 hours with my 9 year old.

It a pretty fun trail. I’m fairly new to hiking and am a pretty heavy gal so this was a great beginning trail for me. There were a few spots that were slightly challenging but overall it was a beautiful hike. I would recommend hiking down to the stream on the southwest side of the bridge and lookout point, there is a great spot to rest and chill by the creek.

Gorgeous route along beautiful folsom. Lots of people out and about is an inspiration.

Took me 4 hours to complete, counting my little break I took on the lookout by the falls. Overall, the trail loop is very pretty, nicely shaded, and well cut, however, for about half of the west section of the loop it was terribly overgrown and not well marked. The lack of trail at one point and even less markings made me a little disoriented for the last quarter of the west side of the loop. But once I got through that by climbing logs and pushing/cutting a whole bunch of branches, the falls and the eastern part of the loop back made it all worth it:)
Bring bug spray, I was also being followed by a little cloud of gnats for a lot of the time

It is a difficult trail coming out but the rewards of the swimming holes at the bottom are worth it!
Just take a lot of water with you and I don’t recommend doing in high temps and much of the trail is uncovered.

Beautiful hike. I went counter clockwise. Practically all downhill to the falls with a slight grade on the way back. The view of Feather Falls and the ravine is more than worth the hike.

Trailhead unclear so we diverted to an access road for a bit before we figured it out. We were still able to get back to trail and it was a little extra exercise. so not a big deal. Stay on narrow trail next to the lake. One area where it was a little steep and narrow, but still give this an easy rating. We took trail early October and did encounter a good-sized rattler. It gave us ample warning and slithered off the trail a safe distance and continued to rattle, but we decided it was far enough away behind the brush to safely pass. Nice, historic little lake/reservoir for a Sunday afternoon outing. Great regional/local trail but agree with others—not worth a long drive.

Great trail, and enjoyable river. The trail is very easy to follow not too steep and the bugs were not as bad

There are just so many better trails within a half hour's drive.

Beautiful views!

Super easy, beautiful trail! I started at the dam, and went toward the launch ramp, and made the loop all the way around. The path was paved and pretty flat most of the way around, and then turned into dirt and a few hills at the end. Went on a weekend, and there wasn’t much foot traffic or activity at the lake, it was perfect! Lots of spots to stop and take breaks, if you want. Very dog friendly! Lots of places for my dog to head down to the water and get a little swim in. Would definitely go back!

I’ve walked this trail many times. Love it. I haven’t checked out the new paved section yet.

great challenging hike with great views.

Trail head is almost impossible to find. I had to ask several locals along the way exactly how to find it. The trail isn't marked very well at the forks so it's easy to take the wrong path. I wouldn't really call this a trail since it forces you to go through downtown Nevada City, then walk on a paved residential street for about a mile, then along a crushed rock road for another mile just to get to a path running along an NID ditch. At the last 2 miles there weren't many trees so I would never do this one again in hot weather. If you just want a walk down to the creek(which is nice) then this might be an option. If you want an 8 mile hike this isn't a very good trail for that.

The trail itself is beautiful, and though I would not describe the views as spectacular, the jaunt itself is pleasant and relaxing. I took the trail from the (very low) underpass to the right of the trailhead sign all the way to it's finish at the fire road (there is an end of trail marker there to let you know). A little anticlimactic since there was no sweeping view at the end. When I do it again, i will likely stop at the picnic tables located after the bridge. Great place to snack and recharge before heading back.

Great trail! lots of mosquitoes though. Easy walk, level and shaded.

this is a fantastic trail to take young kids who are just starting to get into nature walks without being in a stroller. it is long but easy for them to enjoy and explore. the trail has several little creekbeds that are filled with salamanders. the walk bridgws and paths are also nice for individuals who have difficulty walking. bridges have benches and great views.

This was a very beautiful trail. If you use the map it’s pretty easy to stay on track but you can adventure off if you want to as well. The sun will hit you for most of the hike so be prepared with enough water for everyone. I did this one without my 1.5 year old and I would recommend leaving the babies at home. Dogs had a blast but you’ll want to bring enough water for them too.
