Beautiful trail! Not too hard getting up as it only takes an hour to get to the ridge views. Made it up in hiking shoes only although it was snowy throughout and a bit icy. The views are worth every minute! Definitely doing this one again soon.

Amazing hike! As others have said, snow on the trail very early on and got to knee deep at the top of the pass. We went on a clear sunny day and lucked out with gorgeous views.

I wouldn’t go too much later in the season as I suspect the trail with be harder to follow with the snow cover-come prepared.

Also a word of warning, the snow was falling off the trees in the undergrowth-so much so that we had our rain gear on for the first hour. So just be wary and bring rain gear.

More of a moderate trail- not very well maintained near the end. Still beautiful.

Rained off and on with snow on trail about 4,000 ft. About 8" or so deep the last hour of hiking. Wished I'd had my boots and not trail runners. Beautiful hike! Rain cleared out and the clouds moving in and out made more some dramatic scenery.

Late entry from Fall last year. It was amazing views of Baker, and Mount Shuksan. It was clear day that day. Amazing views at the summit. It was worth it every sweats and to be rewarded with such of beauty..
The signs were pretty visible from the main highway. 12 miles of dirt road to the trailhead. Very narrow dirt roads and uphills. Compact car is doable. 4000 ft to the trailhead. And it’s about 6000 ft or more to hike to the summit.

Drove up in a SUV, drove slower to avoid the potholes. Saw some cars in the parking lot, so doable. In a previous comment, someone mentioned it is more like a walk. It is not. Right off the bat, you start with a 2 mile climb to the first ridge., approximately 1 hour up. Definitely not a beginner’s hike. The views from the ridge are spectacular. You can continue for another 2.5 miles, climbing on and off to the top ridge ( another hour or less).
We had sunny skies, clouds coming in as we left. Would highly recommend this hike!

Superb hike with great view of Mt Baker.

Beautiful day this past Sunday. We took advantage of the little times we had so we drove here to Artist Point. Parked car down in lower parking and hiked to the top and explored little bit of the amazing area. The views of Mount Sukshan and Mount Baker are amazing!! What a glorious day.

Worth the pain of that last incline coming home just to see these beautiful mountaintops up close and personal.

Amazing views, but would be even better if the cars weren't allowed to park right where the best view is!

Beautiful trail. A nice gradual incline for about an hour and then you have the most spectacular views the rest of the way. We drove up in a small car (successfully, despite the potholes). The hike wasn’t that difficult, we saw a lot of families with small children hiking.

Great experience today! Fantastic glacier view.

Amazing!!!! Spectacular views of the huge craggy mountain peaks, glaciers and Hidden Lake. Meadow has really pretty fall foliage coloring right now. We hiked yesterday, Oct 18th, and temps were perfect. Barely any snow - did not need crampons. Trail started getting muddy in the afternoon. Hiked at a moderate pace and took us 5.5 hrs (with 1.25 hrs spent sitting at the summit overlooking the lake).

Drive to/from trailhead off of Cascade River Rd is as bad as the other reviews say. Guessing it took us 45 min to get up & 30 min on way down. Gets dark early these days! Bring a headlamp if you're starting late!

Beautiful mountain views the entire hike! Lots of steep switchbacks and definitely longer than 2.5 miles r/t. Our app showed approx 1,300' elevation gain. We also ended at the little maroon colored square at the end of the dotted line, not where All Trails has the trail ending at Sauk Mountain peak. Looked on our descent and did not see a trail going to the right. View from the trailhead is really pretty for those who don't choose to hike it.

Took us a half hour to get up the road in our 2WD van, but we made it to the trailhead just fine.

I wasn't sure how I felt about this hike spot when my friend & I first got to it. There is about a 45 minute drive up to the trailhead littered with potholes, so be careful. When we got to the trailhead & began our ascent we didn't think we would make it. (We are kind of fresh in the hiking game.) Fortunately, we trekked through and pushed our way to the top & I am not exaggerating when I say it was one of the most beautiful views I'd ever seen in my 23 years of life. Worth every bit of effort we gave to make it to the top. I am definitely doing it again.

Amazing views. Went there on the perfect weekend. Snow had accumulated in the morning. Not much. We started the hike at 12.30pm. Snow had pretty much melted. Took us, amateurs, 3.5 hours to reach the lookout. Elevation was definitely felt. Beautiful fall red colors. Hike would definitely need more expertise when snow starts accumulating.

This was my favorite hike this year! It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday. We arrive at 7:45am and finished at 2:10 pm hiking 9.8 miles. Spectacular views!!! The hike is a little bit strenuous at times but it is more then worth it! I will definitely backpack this trail next year!

My husband, dog and I hiked this yesterday (10/14). The weather conditions were perfect at a cool 45°, not a cloud in the sky, and no wind; all of which I find pretty amazing for the middle of October in the Cascades.

We started at 12:05, reached the lookout at 3:00, started descending at 3:30, and reached the vehicle by 6:10.

I loved the different layers of this hike; dense forest, uncovered meadows blanketing the slopes, boulder fields dotting the top, and a challenging scramble to reach your destination.

There were a few pockets of snow and on our descent, the top half of the trail was a muddy mess, otherwise it was very manageable. The few morning hikers we met mentioned seeing a mama bear and her cub in the meadow above the trail but we didn't see them. Also for any fur parents, my 40 lbs. lab mix did not fair well with rock scrambling to the lookout and down.

All in all, I really enjoyed it. The worst part was the brutal 4 mile road to the trail head.

Go on sunny day. Beautiful Mountain View’s especially Mt Baker

BEAUTIFUL! This is a must do hike. Fairly gradual so take the whole family with you too! Love love loved it. We didn’t do the entire thing because it was crazy busy but we will be back!

What an amazing hike, one of my favorite’s so far in Washington! It’s a calf/quad/booty burner and there’s a considerable scramble to the lookout, but it’s so worth it. The views from the lookout are breathtaking! The only thing I’d say is that the road to the trailhead is rough, covered in potholes. Get there early as the parking lot is small and the road to the trailhead isn’t wide, so it’s tough to park on the road before the trail. A must-do hike!

Perfect day today for this gorgeous trail. A little harder than Joffre Lake trail.

The hike its self is just ok, but the glimpses of aqua water make it well worth it. There is a ferry at the end of the trail that will bring you back to the parking lot. I found it hard to get info on it. It departs from the end of the trail twice a day 8:00am and 3:00pm. It was $10 cash and allowed dogs, this was the highlight of the hike for me.

This is one of the hardest hikes I’ve been on but it was definitely a cool view. Just prepare yourself for constant uphill hiking.

Amazing trail! After the 10 mile drive up the mountain ( with a lot of potholes- but we got through those with our minivan) you arrive at the parking lot which is pretty full when you arrive late ( like us). The climb up is not bad and I think more or less anyone can do it. Once up on the ridge you will have the most spectacular views ever! Make sure you follow the trail and don’t stop at the ridge. It will take you to even more spectacular views! It was one of the best hikes we did so far!!!!!

Such a beautiful place, very worth the drive! The views are breathtaking, even with a two year old it was great!

Drove down from Vancouver BC today to do this one and Chain Lakes. I consider neither one hikes, more like pretty nature walks. I did love the views of Baker but was glad I did a second “hike” to extend my day. Not busy at all as we went on a Friday. Road up was totally fine with me Jeep but I saw cars go up too, just avoid the potholes

Awesome views! Had a great time in the lookout

Wow this is beautiful and very worth the trip in the fall with the leaves turning!!

We stopped at random and found this trail off the highway. We only hiked about 2 miles in and had to turn back due to time issues- but those 2 miles were filled with beautiful forest scenery.. something from a fairytale. Those 2 miles I would list as moderate hiking- note we didn’t hike the whole trail.
