Nice hike and views but road noise from Hwy. 20 on much of the trail.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this trail. We are hiking beginners and there are definitely some steep parts but the views are 110% worth it!

Took my 7 year old twins to Anderson Lake Friday morning to Saturday. Great trail! Buggy but that’s to be expected. By the time we left Saturday around noon the parking lot was filled! Glad we went Friday. We had Anderson Lake to ourselves and Mt. Baker came out just in time for sunset. It did get frosty at night so still very cold up that high but once the sun touched our camp it was so delightful!

My 5 stars are for the trail and spectacular views, but I agree with a previous reviewer that this is not an easy trail for everyone. I am a very fit 70-year-old and found it quite a challenge. It took me 2 hours to reach the summit and 30 min to come down.

In fog all the way up today but I still rate this hike at a 5. Lots of elevation gain in a short distance but the switchbacks made it easier. So did the fog since it was a lot cooler. Still snow at the top and lots of wildflowers. Marmot, grouse and chipmunk. I'm going to come back on a clear day for the views this hike is known for!

Fabulous even with clouds!

Really great views for such a short and fairly easy trail.

A fun day hike for the family. Bring your bug repellent. The mosquitos are vicious. The views are well worth the minor inconvenience of insects.

Nice, simple and easy hike. Views of the lake are pretty but not as great as the lookout point just further down the highway. Trail head was tucked back in the campground so it gets a lot of traffic.

Fairly easy hike with beautiful views. Bummed we didn't see any mountain goats but saw some marmots! Definitely recommend.

Incredible hike! Steady switchbacks all the way up but nothing too tough. The views are absolutely stunning the whole way. A little snow towards the top but definitely passable and the 360 views at the top are breathtaking.. Road up to the trail head is long and rough, but worth it.

Hiked Sat. 7\14\18. Lot just about full at 8am (vault toilet at TH very clean & well maintained) yet all the way to the top we only saw 3 hikers who were on their way down, pretty amazing for a weekend. Beautiful hike, incredible views. Trail was in excellent condition hardly any snow. The creek crossing about 30/40 min. up is a little challenging, water running too fast to walk across even if you had sandals but the logs placed across the creek about 4ft above the water worked fine, just be careful, hiking polls not helpful here as you can't really place them. Definitely recommend this hike!

For as little effort this trail requires, the views are amazing!! There’s still a bit of snow at the top, but nothing terrible! It’s passable with boots and poles if needed! Also a lot of friendly marmots about at the top

Great little hike but lots of trees down blocking the path.

Great trail! Good views on a clear day throughout the hike and beautiful lake. Didn’t make it to Anderson, but camped at Watson for one night. Beautiful surroundings with many little waterfalls on the far side of the lake. Snow on parts of the trail as of 07/07/18, but still able to see the right way to go. Got down to probably 35 degrees in the night.

Hiked on 7/3/18. This hike is incredibly scenic surrounded by peaks. It has a beautiful meadow with amazing 360 views and lots of wild flowers. We were lucky enough to spot 8 mountain goats, 2 were babies, clamoring down the climbing trail towards us. We also saw a few marmot climbing about the rocks. The lake is beautiful. There were several others hiking this day and I see why it’s a popular trail. That is the only draw back.

Easy Day hike for smaller children. We took our four month old on the trail and it was just the right length, time and elevation gain.

JULY 3, 2018: I LOVED THIS HIKE! the views are incredible and there are so many different things to see on your way up. we started at around 5:30am and finished around 8:30. the trail was not too hard and was definitely worth it. would highly recommend!

Did this hike on July 3rd. It was a beautiful day in the NCNP, easy parking. We clocked 7.8 miles round trip and 1750 ft elev gain. The best way to do this hike is to look up the ferry schedule and hike in one way (wish we had known this ahead of time.) Cost is $10 cash per person. I even saw several people with dogs planning to take the ferry, but I don't know the rules.

"Easy' may be relative and needs to be qualified. For families with small kids and elders this trail may pose some challenge depending on their physical abilities. Relative to an urban park trail which most people would consider "easy", this trail is a climb and rocky/uneven all the way through. The view is worth while but the "kid friendly" tag probably best applies to elementary-school-age kids and up. May be do-able with younger kids not on a carrier, but YMMV.

Beautiful views and the lake is gorgeous. Hiked this yesterday 7/6 and the mosquitos were intense. Definitely come prepared for a lot of bugs.

As of 1.5 weeks ago the trail is still snowy for several miles & the lakes are frozen.

Easy hike with beautiful views at the top. Did see a large black bear on the way down close to the trailhead, ran off when it saw us.

I love this trail. It is a spectacular, invigorating hike. Went up today (7/4). Still a fair amount of snow up at the summit. We had a beautiful view of the North Cascades and Mt Rainier was looming like a spectral presence in the distance. Mt Baker was magnificent. Wildflowers were going crazy. Still a large piece of ice on Sauk Lake down below. If you haven’t been before know that the unpaved road up from Hwy 20 to the trailhead is rugged.

Started around 8:45 this morning. Took us about an hour and a half. Very cloudy/foggy. A little rain too. Only ones on trail and couldn’t see more than 30 yards in any direction. Couldn’t make it to the top due to the snow, but will definitely be back in the future! Great hike.

Great Hike! Pretty much clear of all snow. If you want some better views take the left trail when It splits 1.5 miles in and hike the "climbing" route that leads to the basin of the spires.

We hiked this in late June. There was snow on trail a few miles in, but it wasn't bad. There was one difficult and dangerous stream crossing due to high run-off volume in early season. The fast moving water through harsh rocks and makes for a potentially fatal fall. The most stable crossing in this area is balancing across a few decaying logs. Besides that, trail conditions were relatively shoddy. There were a few downed trees on trail and part of the trail was flooded. Overall, a pretty trail marred by years of neglect.
