this is a fun trail with some good uphill. there are always a lot of people as it is close to Winston Salem.

The trail is decent. there are always many people on this trail as this is the most popular trail in this SP. the view from the top is nice.

this trail has everything to offer... hills, stairs, waterfalls, scenery. rates second to Yosemite only.

I came over from the Tanawha Trail and went right (easy part first). That side is easy but boring. The other side of the trail is gorgeous and definitely more challenging, but nothing the average person can’t accomplish. Be prepared to stray from the trail at creek crossings or to hop from rock to rock.

Well maintained trail that does not have too much elevation gain. On the hike up, you will be treated to a good view of Stone Mountain. Towards the end to Wolf Rock, the trail evens out. The views from Wolf Rock are great especially in Autumn. On the hike back down, venture on to Cedar Rock Trail for a great view of Stone Mountain from Cedar Rock and the Blue Ridge Mountains before you come to to the Hutchinson homestead at the base of Stone Mountain.

What a fun and somewhat challenging hike! We took the longer route (to the left to start out) and it was a nice and steady incline until we got to the rocks then it really got interesting! I had my 8 and 10 year old with me and we all managed just fine. The top is totally worth the climb. You have a 360 degree view! The stairs on the way back down (going the opposite way), were covered in leaves but not slippery. It will be fun to do the hike in the reverse order next time. Well marked and maintained. (Red and white circles). Highly recommend!

I hiked with my dog the mountain trail to Grindstone to ledge ridge, then to the summit. The total mileage was a little over 10 miles. I agree with other reviewers, the trail rating is hard is because of the total mileage. I had a great hike during the week, encountering very few hikers. I’ll be back.

Hiked this one after I completed the Stone Mtn Loop. Nice view of the Blue Ridge at the top...maybe the best view in the park.

Short hike to a cascade.

Easily, one of my favorite hikes. Started at the Lower Trailhead. A lot of steps and rock faces to hike up, a lot of overlooks, and a 200 foot waterfall. Covered about 9 miles. Total gem of a State Park.

This was my favorite hike I've ever done! Highly recommend. Definitely start with the summit.

My gps said I did 6.5 miles for this loop. It was strenuous. Uphill both ways. Lots of steps. Took me and my pup about 4 and a half hours. Stopped at top of rock for snack and rest. It was a really nice hike though.

Completed this trail along with the Black Jack Ridge, Cedar Rock, & Stone Mountain Loop trails to make an 8.6 mile loop. This trail is also one of the less traveled which is a nice break away from the people pollution that tend to frequent the Stone Mountain Loop Trail.

some amazing views. and one amazing waterfall. bucket list this one. you'll thank me

Just completed this section this week as my first foray onto the AT. Spectacular views from the balds. Last 6-7 miles to 19e were difficult and challenging. Spent night in Overmountain shelter. Great spot. Plenty of water available on the trail. I agree with other posters that the distance is more the 13.6 miles posted. Absolutely worthwhile trip

Beautiful hike. Took approximately 3-4 hours for novice hiker.

on Moores Knob Trail

Hanging Rock is not my favorite but it’s close to home. This trail has over 700 stone stairs that will tear your knees up! No matter what shape you’re in. Not a very good design for a trail. I start with the stairs if I’m going to do Moore’s at all

Beautiful views.

Moderate hike with phenomenal views! Took our time exploring and was done within 4 hours.

Excellent hike! Not many views on the way up. The view at the top is definitely awesome and made the hike worth doing!!

A bit crowded, but otherwise perfect. Challenging and beautiful.

Great hike- nice climb and scenic view at the top. I definitely recommend taking the left (clockwise) side of the loop on the way up. More scenic and variable terrain compared to taking the side that has stairs.

Wonderful hike w amazing scenery but was very wet and slick. You have to take very deliberate and cautious steps.

Very nice.

Great hike with a little bit of everything!!

Great view of the lake for almost the whole trail. Tends to be crowded though. Go early and/or during cooler months.

easy walk with large path for bikes too

Incredible trails, well marked, wide trails. There are steps on each end of the loop, so pick your poison. Saw wildlife ,views and the waterfall was spectacular.

Awesome trail! We started to the left, like other hikers mentioned and I’m glad we did. The trail was a bit steep toward the end, but we were commuted by then and the kids couldn’t poop out. Three young kids with us and they did great! Lots of beautiful waterfalls, lots of great climbing trees, one great scenic view, and breath-taking scenery everywhere! Definitely want to do this hike again!
