NOCO WY Trails Map

The rapid elevation increase is immediately apparent. The change in trail, foliage and scenery was enjoyable. The last 10th of a mile will kick your butt, be prepared! The view of Horsetooth Reservoir and Fort Collins is breathtaking! I would not recommend this trail to those out of shape or new to hiking.

The entire elevation gain is the 3ish miles closest to the lake, where the incline hits you like a wall! We found ourselves scrambling quite a few times up and around rock walls. The lake is underwhelming, not sure if the final climb was really worth it. The weather was beautiful though, and friendly hikers and packers that we passed along the way.

absolutely beautiful and full of amazing scenery♡

Awesome hike

Pretty like hike up and old road off the main scenic drive. We stopped on our way to Walden. Saw a moose at the TH on the way back. Porta potty and plenty of parking

Great trail! Love the view!

Great drive with some awesome views. Would consider this an easy road for off-road driving. You do drive through private property to get to the trail so mind your speed, so not stop and be courteous if you encounter any land owners. All gates were open when I drove the entire length of the trail 08/04/18.

Nice walk with some great places off the track along the river to enjoy. Coming back the views across the mountain range are awesome. As you descend down to the car park

I took my dog on this hike and she loved it! Tons of little streams and different landscapes. The incline is a little difficult but if you take breaks along the way it is doable :)

Loved it! This trail is very lush and green! A nice change up from all the dry dusty trails in NoCo. I went all the way to the meadows just before the dirt road, a little over 10 miles all together. I would suggest wearing bug spray for ticks and mosquitos, I found ticks on me a couple of different times after walking through the more dense parts of the trail. Pants might be a a good idea on this hike. Also it was a great bonus that I was the only person on the entire trail! Definitely going to do it again in the fall, lot of aspens!

Challenging climb but well-constructed trail and excellent views from the summit!

The Dowdy Lake trail was a fun 2.5 mile walk/hike. The directions take you to a trail map, but you have to park (& pay the $6) in the day use area, which is near the entrance. We missed it, and had to backtrack, after asking the park rangers. Once we got parked/paid, the trail was right there!! Lots of amazing views, and boulders for climbing. A super fun trail!

Easy climb and beautiful views.

Went to the bridge and back because the town was working on the gate. Looking forward to running this trail.

Amazing trail that runs along the Poudre most of the way. Great views at higher elevations along the trail. Watch missing 411 documentary before or after your hike depending on how freaked out you wanna be.

We found this trail to be much easier than described in other reviews. I took my 7 and 9 year old boys and they had no problem getting to the top. Nice and cool still in July at 6 am. Windy at the top. We saw lots of deer. Amazing views at the top.

Amazing trail to take your dogs on and get started with hiking, very easy hike with a great view of Dowdy lake at the end!

Easy walk around a lake in a beautiful setting. Part of the loop can get hot, but other parts have lots of trees and provided welcomed shade!

Joe & ken are wrong & most like locals who just don’t want you up here... I ride it & drive my 4x4 van up here all the time. Campered with a buddy up here 2 weeks ago. It’s open & is a legal road/trail to be on..

Partially shaded nice trail. Not that hard. Scramble at the end is steep, but short with lots of sculpted steps & plenty of hand holds. Wild flowers are past their prime this time of year. Beautiful view is your payoff at the summit.

Absolutely gorgeous, went early and had the trail to ourselves. Wild flowers are in bloom and the waterfalls are flowing. Just amazing!

Did with all 7 kids ages 6-16. Was a challenge for a few of them, but not too bad!

Loved this hike! Just when you think you can't do anymore you start the boulder climbing and it opens up to an awesome view! Totally worth the climb. Did it with a 14, 10, and 5 year old.

Definitely medium difficulty due to slope and rocks. The distance is accurate, but assumes hiking the Summit Trail only. The Nature and Summit trails split about 500 feet above the parking lot.

Started out at 7:15 a.m. with only two other cars in the lot. Saw only a few people the entire time. Fairly nice semi-obstructed views eastward after about the first or second mile. The trail runs along a contour line for the first mile or so, with a steep downhill drop (not for the faint of heart). The summit is a little underwhelming, with limited views.

Lots of road noise for the first mile, and someone decided to put a materials yard/quarry just downhill from the first set of switchbacks, which makes a lot of noise for the first mile or two. There's a public park being built across Highway 34, so expect some potential construction delays getting to the trailhead.

Nice meandering trail through the forest

Beautiful and easy hike. There’s lots of trees so it was shaded. Kayaked the perimeter of the west lake. Lots of fish jumping but none were biting. One of my favorite places in Colorado.
