Perfect Conditions, great winter mountain. Unfortunately lost my sunglasses.
great trail with kids. lots of stairs and 2 cute little bridges.
Perfect condition
Great trail for a winter snowshoe outing. Lots of switch backs to the ridge.
Surprisingly clear until you reach the ropes. An icy patch of snow halfway up the ropes section, but if you scramble past, it’s clear all the way to the summit. Such a beautiful morning for a hike!
Absolutely amazing great views
2/27 - Arrived at park gate around 8AM. Beautiful sunny morning, mid 20s. Snow wasn't compact enough for just spikes, but we made the mistake of not packing snow shoes and had to power through (it's possible, but definitely not recommended). Moderately crowded on the trail.
Easy trail, with slight elevation at the end.
wow storm king is a beast of a hike. couldn't quite finish it either cause my vertigo. but beautiful and worth it.
no trail markings at all, glad someone was before us. small, dangerous landslide area about 1 mile in. could not find rampart trail so doubled back.
Great Snowshoeing Day hike! Started to warm up in the afternoon so we had to dodge falling snow.
Absolutely beautiful!! Fantastic way to see Olympic natl park in the winter. Trails were a bit slushy from the snow but overall amazing
A bit muddy, slushy, and crowded!! But definitely worth it!!
25-30 min trail and it was really pretty. half the people don't wear masks tho so be careful
Hiked 20 Feb. Carried crampons but didn't need them or snowshoes. As others have stated, go clockwise to avoid the steep descent.
We started at the Hurricane Ridge Visitor's Center and hiked about 7.3 miles round trip to Hurricane Hill and back. It took us about 4.5 hours, including innumerable photo stops and our sandwich break at the summit. I only measured 1,500 feet gain but my legs definitely felt it.
no view today. started snowing about half way up. still fun but definitely bring some spikes for the upper half.
The good thing is it’s all slush...the bad thing is it’s all slush! Ha! With that being said it was a great hike in the conditions I knew I would encounter. Though stopped at top where I felt accomplished, the slush with micros and poles just felt unpredictable when your close to the edge on both sides. This was passed the “trail not maintained sign”. Great day with some narley views! Will be back again! Very quite on the trail today, most definitely recommend a weekday if you can snag a hike then!
awesome hike. in the middle of a snowstorm so that made it tricky. didn't quite make the peak as couldn't find the trail in the snow because we were the only tracks up there when we went. snow got pretty deep up top. made it up the first rope then started sliding down the hill as I went off trail cause I couldn't find it. saved by the spikes. got very close to peak but turned around. the trees and snow coming down made it feel like a fairytale. also went to the waterfall which was wicked cool
Snowy and slick at the top. Suggest bringing crampons but the views make up for it.
