A easy hike in the white sands. Very beautiful. Remember to take a sunglass as the white sands reflect the sunlight strongly.

Tough challenge on my MTB....but good fun

Really pleasant hike. Very educational. Super easy. Took tons of photos. Went with my husband, MIL, 2 teen sons, and our dog.

Nice hike, but not the best of the park

not a bike trail :) good views awsome history

Great place to take your dog and let them run around. Also beautiful sunsets and you can ride sleds

The trail is beautiful, and the ruins are fascinating! My wife, my boys, and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring them and learning about the people that built them.

Nice little trail. Beautiful ruins. Easy for little ones and those that don't hike much.

Beautiful place that takes you back in history

Trailhead was difficult to find (I am not sure we actually ever found it) but we made our way back to intercept the trail.

Most of this hike was on actual trail - no roads except though campgrounds. Equal amounts of forest cover and exposure.

We cut off the northern section to shorten our route a little. Part of this trail shares sections of the Osha Trail and the Pines Trail (a forest road).

Not exactly "hiking" but this monument is a beautiful pit stop on the way to las cruces. Also, the lady working in the gift shop is awesome and gave us restaurant suggestions around the area.

very easy and beautifully unique. this trail hits some sweet spots where you are on top of the dunes with a 360 view of white sands. winter time is very cold. saw kids sledding like it was snow!

Amazing place!...loved it!

This is a wonderful walk around some beautiful ruins. It's one of my favorite in New Mexico. Lovely in the fall.

Can't say I was specifically on this trail, once you get off the road, sand dunes are a free for all which direction you head, I will say though for sand dunes, these are the easiest dunes you will ever hike on, it's like a constant state of dampness, you don't sink as much as the average dune, the white is very unique as well, high recommend (even if you have done your fair share of dunes!

This was a good trail even if we took our bikes the wrong way by accident. it's well known and a lot of people. so for those first timer you won't get lost.

Unplanned detour on my trip and the best decision I've made. Truly breathtaking. Highly recommend, uploaded pictures are such bad resolution compared to the real thing.

Camping in White Sands backcountry is a very unique experience and well worth doing at least once. The hike is easy and you will enjoy camping under the stars and awaken to the surreal landscape. Nothing beats the sunrise in the sandy dunes.

Absolutely beautiful!

This has to be one of the most beautiful short hikes I have ever done. The views are fantastic, and it really gives you the feeling that you are living in the 1500's and experienceing the life as a Twia indian. You must hike the short loop that goes up the hillside to the South of the ruins, it's only a mile or so. There are tables for a nice picnic near some giant cottonwood trees

Gorgeous scenery! Wish I could've stayed to see the sunset. Will definitely have to come back!

This was a good stop for us and very glad we did. Check it out!

This place is beautiful. It's as if you're in another world. The sand feels great between your toes and the backcountry is nothing but white sand dunes and mountains in the backdrop. Awesome place!

LOVED this hike! Saw deer, chipmunks, turkeys, hummingbirds, rabbits, and elk. Tip: don't actually go INTO the first meadow like the directions state. We did and wound up about 2 miles off the the real trail. When you can see the meadow, and you're at the treeline look for a very sharp left turn (you form a V). The rest of the directions follow to a tee once you get on that trail.

So pretty! You feel like you are on another planet! Just amazing! Go early when hardly any one else is there.

Just went here a couple weeks ago. The ruins are gorgeous and the trail is very easy. Unfortunately the Spanish Corral trail was closed while I was there. I posted some of my favorite photos from the day at www.banishingboredom.blogspot.com.

The Salinas Pueblo Missions is made up of 3 parts. 1. Quarai, 2. Gran Quivira, 3. Abo -- A great free family trip that can be done in one long day or broken up. Each place has a path that goes around and sometimes through the ruins and that in itself can add up to a nice walk. Quarai alone has a separate trail that is a mile loop known as the Spanish Corral Loop. Nice easy Hike.
