I prefer blue up and yellow down. It takes about an hour to go up and an hour down, if you don't take many breaks. Blue is steep but it's nice to get up there quickly. and this is a perfect mountain for sunrise hikes because it's not a long hike up

my family and I did this hike today we have a 9 yo and a 5 yo they had no problem. Beautiful views!

Hiked it again today. Went up Blue and down Orange. Steep going up but definitely glad it was shorter than yellow with the steepness. Orange was challenging going down but not as bad as going down Blue.

It was amazing when you get to the top.

Hiked this down from Lonesome Lake Hut as we had parked at the Basin. I really enjoyed the technical rocky course. Do keep a look out for signage as it passed over water a few times. Great views of waterfalls and wildlife.

great hike!
though lots of tripping hazards (rocks and many tree roots)
After .8 miles of the hike the trail splits into 2 sections
On the left is a harder .3 mile path that involves a more steep incline with some rock scrambling
On the right is the easier .5 mile path that stays consistent with the path type of the trail. some rocks and roots in the path but easier to hike up.
Both routes are worth taking to see the beautiful view at the top!

Very beautiful hike. It was my wife's first hike, it was equally strenuous and pleasant. I would recommend if you are looking for a moderate challenge!

easy hike with beautiful views!

Nice view from the top, cool rocks on the ledge. I would rate this moderate, there were some steep parts up and down, about 2 hours up, 1 hour down.

That was a great little family hike. Lots of cold water pools to lay around in and 4 leaves up or so there was a hole that was about 2 ½ feet wide by 3 ½ feet long and about 10 feet deep. Jumped in with my arms by my side. What a rush. The hike is easy. Parking was a problem so get there early.

Moderately busy at height of the season but worth the short climb for the view.

Not easy! Definitely moderate, some pretty steep climbing. It was beautiful but tough for a family

A great hike, but should definitely be rated as a moderate level. The rock scramble at the top was definitely not for first timers within an experienced guide with them. This was My birthday hike with my 26 year old son! It rained and was overcast, but it was an awesome trail, hike and day! Would definitely do it again!

Hiked orange trail up with three kids(13,11&10 yrs). This was their first real hike. it was steep enough to get a little winded and make your legs shakey but completely doable It took us a good 1hour 30 minutes to summit. Beautiful views of the lake. On the way down we took yellow trail. great hike

Great family hike with our teens. Trail loaded with various mushrooms and beautiful pond view at top.

Liked this very much. Good for the dogs and enjoyable for everyone else

Well marked paths. Rocky moderate incline, that our dog could walk. Beautiful streams and views up the hike.

Great trail. Well maintained. Hike is good for kids and dogs (there were many dogs the day we went).
View is great at the top.
Parking was tricky we had to park on the road (be sure not to be over the white line if you’re on the road because we saw people getting ticketed).

Great trail for beginners. We are experienced hikers but were taking friends for their first hike. This trail has beautiful views of waterfalls for the entire trip up. We ended up doing a loop rather than the up and back. It was a bit muddy and the cascade bridge has washed out but you can still cross with minimal problem. We also had a small dog and he had fun. The early parts of the trail especially the swimming and wading areas of the lower falls were extremely crowded but about a mile into the trail there were very few. This would be a good beginner trail for people who want to start running trails or training with heavy packs too. Definitely recommend for newbies.

Perfect hike for families with younger children. One of the highest visual-payoff-to-effort ratios you can find.

Amazing trail for family of 6. This was our first time in the White Mountains and a perfect hike for beginners. The trail is well marked with a beautiful forest canopy to start followed by a rocky ascent deserving of some fancy foot work. The kids couldn’t wait to get to the top. What a view! Well worth it. Spent 30 minutes snacking and taking in the amazing vistas. Coming down saw many hikers going up. We lucked out not having hikers on top. Will definitely visit next time.

This trail is great if you want to get in to the Whites but not be above the tree line. It stays low with very little elevation gain. We went after a storm had rolled through the day before and some parts of the trail resembled a creek more than a path, but it wasn't impassable and the mud never became deep.
The only real caution I have is that the bridge is washed out. It's easy to cross because the water isn't fast, but you do have to take off your shoes to get through it.

A nice hike with some very scenic views at the top, but it is not ‘easy’ (at least not for a 65+ year-old who is reasonably fit). Elevation increases the entire way; lots of roots and small rocks to watch out for; and large rocks to climb on the last 1/4 mile. For me it was a medium-level hike (especially since it was hot and humid today), and a very enjoyable one.

So romantic to do with your boo ;)

Super fun little hike. I’ve done it a few times and each time and it seems to be more fun than I remember. Just this past weekend I hiked it after a heavy rain. The run-off only added to the enjoyment. (The lack of people due to the rain certainly didn’t hurt either.) Take the dog on this one. They’ll love you for it. One very active, high strung puppy slept all the way home.

we went up through Brook trail(yellow) and came down on boulder loop(orange). Our way up was moderate, there were lot of water streams and small falls that actually made climb tricky as the trail got slippery at some points.

Boulder loop was one of toughest descents we have ever been to. Lots of rocks and steep climbs. I suggest carrying an extra pack of socks just in case your socks get drenched in water!

Amazing view awarded after a relatively easy hiking under 40 minutes. Perfect for young kids and dogs. The view at the top is unobstructed and there is plenty room to roam around and take a rest. The trail can get muddy at places (we went after a few days on rain) but it doesn't get slippery. Highly recommended.

Beautiful and easy loop. I was happily surprised with the trail and what if offered to see. There were a lot of mushrooms that I’ve never seen in my life. Also cool to find blueberries, chipmunks in the wild, and a bunch of unique trees and plants. Highly recommended!
