love this trail! one of my favorites. FYI Bridges are back!

Very nice flat trail out onto the upper table of the badlands and back. Tons of fun foliage and lots of tracks from sheep and other wildlife. We were there in early June so it was exceptionally sunny and hot. Definitely pack extra sunscreen and water for this trail during the warm part of the year.

It has been a while but I loved this ride. I do not think I could do this ride now as it was rugged with a lot of elevation change. It took me 5 days but a rider in great shape should do it in two.

This is a cool trail. Just FYI it's very easy to get turned around when you go underneath the tunnel, we didn't even pass the exit again on the way back, so thank goodness for gps! Also the 2 bridges are out on the trail, but if you are semi coordinated, you can get across on rocks and branches that have been thrown in the water, just barely getting your shoes wet.

Easy warm up hike. Some nice views at the end. Easy for kids. We didn't see many people using the whole trail. We had the back 3/4 almost to ourselves.

Solid 2 miles one way/4 round trip. We only did because we had two small kids who were nearing naptime. I would cut this walk in half by parking at the General Store and walking the 2 miles through the more wooded section.

beautiful, peaceful, wooded hike by lake. some hills. I'd say not quite easy.

Pretty trail, nice and level terrain. A bit muddy in places. 11 water crossings total one way. We started from the west end of the trail off Remington Camp Rd. Cool road with 10 more water crossings on little wooden bridges.

Great short trail for learning about the land and history. Well marked signs and accompanying literature are provided. Beautiful scene. Bring some water. Also stop at the nearby Hudson Meng ed ctr to see a bison bone bed!

Easy and peaceful. Pretty little streams and dam crossings throughout. It felt like the setting of a Disney movie. We accidentally startled a few white tail deer who were grazing in the middle of the trail. We hiked at dusk.

Beautiful trail! Very well kept and easy to ride in 3 to 4 days. I took 7 boy scouts (ages 11 to 16), all love biking. We started at the top and road down. The first two days they rode a little over 20 miles a day and on the last day they rode 60 miles to the end. The up hills provided enough of a challenge , but not enough to produce tears. They all supported each other and had a great time. We centered the group in Hill City, our day started around 8 am and we had enough time to put in a few miles in the morning and site see in the afternoon. After the last leg, we stopped by Crazy Horse (they rode by it that day) and was treated to the laser show. Everything went smoothly and we meet Dan an Jordan (trail riders that work for the trail). Both guys were extremely helpful and encouraged the boys to keep moving and enjoying the trail. The boys are already wanting to return to do it again.

Interesting, nice campground, restored sod cabin, nice rock formations.

Great hike through the prairie surrounded by the badlands. Easy to navigate.

After hiking Mt Rushmore and Devils Tower, both of which don't allow pets, this is a great hike for those with pets. My lab/shepherd mix enjoyed the exercise. Views are OK, you are in a forest, but there are enough breaks in the trees to see the valleys below. Did not run into anyone else on the trail which made it very peaceful.

Beautiful scenery! I didn't give it a five only because it's fairly high traffic and all the boats on the lake make it not very secluded.

Beautiful scenery and a relaxing walk/hike.

fun and easy if you just do the loop

One of my favorite trails within the badlands. We hiked in early morning, so it wasn't very hot. Great mix of prairie, rock formations, and perhaps some wildlife if your lucky. Really stunning views of the sky amidst the barrens of the rocks or lushness of the prairie.
the prairie is so peaceful and just so lovely

took saddle pass to get to medicine root and it was a spectacular hike.

Great trail, mostly shaded with scenic views every step of the way.

Very easy and quiet hike. We have never run into anyone while on this trail. Beautiful scenery!

This is a very nice hike running along a creek. Multiple creek crossings. Easy trek for beginners and this with young kids.

well marked traveled, heavily trafficked. do early morning when cool.

A solid but not spectacular trail, but the real fun lies in finding the "social trails" that branch off from this trail. One of the great features of badlands is the ability to hike anywhere, and the trails that come off this trail make badlands live up to its name. Of course, be wary of snakes and other wildlife, but definitely a great time.
