Beautiful hike. Surprised this isn’t more popular, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. The trail was incredibly crafted by the WDNR Trail Crew. Major props and thanks to them. Trail is in pretty good condition. Slightly muddy early on and only 2 blowdowns. If you’re going to add the trek to Thompson Lake, you definitely need spikes.

I would consider this on the more difficult side of moderate only because of the incline. The views from the top make all the effort getting there worth it.
There were tree trunks and quite a few rocks on the trail but other than that doable. I saw many dogs and young kids so anyone can do this hike.

Love this trail. Takes us an hour 45 to go up and down, we run most of the way down. There are logs down over the trail currently just FYI!

Lots of downed trees but very hikeable and busy Sunday morning. Clouds in the valley looked great!

Went around 1030am on a Friday and there wasn’t much of a crowd. The trail is well maintained and you can feel the slight incline going up but it’s not overly challenging. Beautiful views at the top and a good spot to take a break with a snack before heading down. Took a little under two and half hours in total.

One of my all time favorite trails. The view is beautiful and I went on a clear day so you could see for miles and miles. We brought lunch to eat once we got up to the top as well.

Loved this hike, would suggest to start really early to avoid the crowds on your way up.

Clear weather, Only saw 2 groups on the trail. Most if the elevation gain is in the first 2 ish miles. Snow / ice showed up half of a mile from the fork. The trek down to the lake had a good amount of snow/ice. I recorded 5 mi to the top.

This was my 2nd time coming here. I love it. I hated outmaneuver underneath the fallen logs from the storm not to long ago. If you have bad knees yes this will be awkwardly painful. Other than that at the ledge it was super windy and cold. Took my group of ladies about 3 hours to finish. The sunset was pretty <3

Went at 1:15pm. Very crowded in parts of the trail but was able to run some on the way up and down. Beautiful views! Worth every bit of traffic!

Not too strenuous and no views going up. Views at the three ledges aren’t as good as surrounding national parks.

Such a beautiful hike! The parking lot was full but there was plenty of parking on the side of the road. Lots of mud so I would definitely bring good hiking boots and you will be fine!

No snow or ice on the path at all. It was a little crowded even though we went up around 9am but the view up there was amazing. When we went down around 1pm the parking lot was packed so I would recommend to go there early.

Climbed this one in the winter. Definitely need a 4x4 and snow chains to make it to the TH. Recommended to have knowledge of avalanche safety for the winter route, as there are 3-4 hazardous areas of crossing. Overall, a fair bank for your buck.

This is my 2nd hike to Rattlesnake Ledge. Beautiful well maintained trail, no ice or sleet. Fairly easy hike to the top for moderate to experienced hikers. I went at 8:30, wasn’t as crowded. The view was amazing! Very windy at the top, but I took a break to eat and the scenery was just wow! Additionally, bathrooms are well maintained and stocked. Unlike many other places that I have hiked to. I will definitely go back again.

Great rewards for such a short hike! Only 2 miles to the top, but still a workout. No snow or ice. Trail is in good shape and bathrooms at the trailhead we're clean and stocked! (Always a plus)

Went on 12/3 at 0730. It was a rainy, windy day. There wasn't much to see from the top, but there was only one other person on the trail! The trail is very well maintained, and I could see myself coming back here to relax by the lake in the summer. Just don't follow the Google maps directions and use the AllTrails map to get to the location. All in all, it was a nice, little workout!

Cold but not too packed!

Park in the Camp Sheppard Trailhead parking lot. Easy and gentle incline all the way to the falls. We went counter-clockwise and found the incline wasn't as steep as the descent. There was a somewhat trecherous crossing once we got up to the falls that required microspikes and many deep breaths. We encountered a few groups that turned around once reaching the snow crossing, but we had the right gear where it wasn't a problem.

Ameizing view!

Started around 8am with a group of hikers. We summited after about 2 hours and 40 minutes. We were back to trailhead at exactly 1pm (5 hours total time including the stop at the summit). Trail condition is good. Only needed microspikes and poles (some among us did not even use microspikes at all). No need for snowshoes. Make sure to check the signs to the correct trail as there are few “social trails” that can divert you from the actual trial. Views are amazing at summit.

Hiked with a group on 1/1/19. Microspikes needed after about 1 mile. We were fine without snowshoes.

It was a great hike to start the New Year. I started hiking around 6:50 AM and enjoyed the trail to myself all the way to the waterfall. I also enjoyed around 40 minutes of solitude at the waterfall before heading back down. I did find a stick on the side of the trail for assistance in the rocky areas. Next time I’ll bring poles. I didn’t run into any snow. A little muddy in spots but totally manageable.

I went at 630 am this morning and the hike up wasn’t highly trafficked but the way down was really busy around 830am. The view was amazing though, especially at sunrise and I would highly recommend. I would give this more of a moderate rating rather than easy. It’s relatively steep on the way up.

A perfect day to start off the New Year 2019, gorgeous views, perfect day to hike...conditions were awesome.

Hiked this back in November. It is very crowded past 0900, so make sure to get there early. Also, there is a much smaller ledge about 10 minutes farther up the trail that allows for a little more seclusion from the crowds.

We started at around 10am and it wasn’t too busy. There were a lot of people coming up on the way down though. Go early if you want to avoid the crowds. There was a little snow at the first ledge.

I completed this hike on late September and it was fairly moderate. Most beginners could reach the ledge without too much duress. The trail was fairly crowded but wasn't unbearable. This is a solid hike and is suitable for most!
