There is a lot of trash all along the trail and dumped in the woody areas. Even someone from the parks department dumped a bunch of seedlings in their plastic planters instead of actually planting them. It was terrible.

The boardwalk is new after hurricane sandy wiped it out. Just be careful if it it wet or snow it can be very slippery in spots. It is well lit at night but bring a flash light just in case

Great way to see the skyline of NYC and others walking the city’s most famous bridge! Worth the time and excitement.

NYC’s best trail system imo. The orange, blue and yellow blazes will get ya about 6 miles combined and another 2 miles on the Bridle Path. All marked trails are loops so impossible to get lost. Close to trains, buses and ample street parking. Rarely crowded and Ive never encountered any n’er-do-wells. This is Queens after all and not the AT but some decent hills if you’re into that kind of thing. Bonus points for a fenced-in dog run at each end.

alright not for mtb.

Free admission on Wednesdays. Nice fall colors in some areas. Went into one of the buildings with some sort of chrysanthemum bonsai things. Pretty interesting. Lots of walking to do here

Explore the Thain Family Forest with this rail to trail adventure which is perfect for kids. If you enter the Spicebush Trail near the Rock Garden you can do a great loop and bring a stroller. There are steps but this way you can carry the stoller down not up them. Go on a Wednesday - free grounds access for all. Lovely Fall adventure.

Was surprised to see how close to nature one can be right here in the Bronx. Luckily in my trails I saw a few people and even though it felt quite for most of the trail, I had the fortune of seeing a family of deers! It was such a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing trails I’ve done. Truly recommend it. There were some parts that was a bit scary, like walking under two tunnels to get to the other side, but other than that, it was a great nature experience.

nice leisurely walk, surrounded by nature and birds

Between the zoo and gardens an enjoyable day.

We walked the red trail with our class. The overlook was very nice. Very easy hike for beginners. Took about an hour. Trail markers, so our kids could practice. Next time we will do the blue trail.

The route outlined here is kind of a weird route, having you walk on the side of the road for a spell, on the beach, on the bike path, and on the dune hiking trail. Bike path, dune, and beach are good.

not really a trail but for NYC again not a bad trail

Great views all around but extremely crowded and way too many rude cyclists. Very touristy but definitely something you should do once.
