First hike I’ve done by myself. The view was amazing! Coming back up the mountain made me realize I may need to exercise more. HAHA. I went off the trail a few times because I couldn’t find the blue markers but I eventually found them. Had fun and seen a beautiful view!

Great hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway with amazing views.

very well maintained trail with decent views for not being in the mountains. only complaint was the trail was pretty crowded. overall would do this trail again.

I have wanted to hike this trail for over a year and finally got to tackle it today. It's rocky and muddy but manageable. The views of the mountains and the Linn Cove Viaduct are amazing! Well worth the trip.

I hiked with my dog the mountain trail to Grindstone to ledge ridge, then to the summit. The total mileage was a little over 10 miles. I agree with other reviewers, the trail rating is hard is because of the total mileage. I had a great hike during the week, encountering very few hikers. I’ll be back.

Very fun trail with amazing views! In my groups opinion it wasn’t very hard like the reviewers say (and we aren’t in very well shape like most). Would recommend this trail to anyone.

We hopped onto this trail where it intersects the Sugarloaf trail, which cut down on the more or less level part of the trail. There were a TON of people...but that's probably also because there was some sort of festival going on as well. Seriously great views, though.

Moderate climb, muddy with some slick rocks and roots and lots of traffic but 100% worth the amazing 360 degree views of the mountains. Parking was tight, dogs were friendly and people were courteous on the trail when it got a little narrow or tricky. One of the best trails on the parkway!

Started just after eight on Sunday morning, so parking lot was nearly empty. There's traffic sound on the south side of the the Occoneechee Mountain trail due to proximity to I-85, but that diminishes further along the trail. Highlight of the trail is the stretch along the Eno river. There's a moderate climb after the river to get the blood pumping. Parking lot was quite full at 10:30 am, so getting started early was a plus.

Great Hike but very short and easy. Make sure to take a left over the bridge and not a right to get to the top.

A nice local trail with a variety of terrain and pleasant views of one of the lakes on the Greensboro watershed.

pretty nice if they can keep it open but most of the time it's closed for one reason or another they also use gravel that is not horse friendly at all

A fair amount of climbing for a short trail but the trail condition is excellent and that makes the climb a breeze. The overviews are quite pretty and there's an excellent view of the Linn Viaduct. Not much parking so it's best to visit on weekdays.

Worderful hike with a short drive from home. Hiked the longer outer loop but snuck over to the look out. Very pretty with a steepled church peeking out of the fall colors.

Great trail. One of the best in the area. Short, but nice.

An excellent quick hike on the blue ridge parkway. Beautiful views.

Not too difficult. A lot of overlooks on the way up. Nice views of Grandfather Mtn and the Parkway going around it. Some cool rock formations throughout the hike. 2 mile round trip from the parking area.

Beautiful views, but rather crowded on a Friday morning. Finished in just over an hour with multiple stops for pictures.

Definitely a workout. I found it pretty hard on the knees, optimal for biking I'm sure. Lots of wildlife. Quite the beautiful hike with many different types of terrain. Whoever has been responsible for clearing the Tropical Storm Michael damage from the trail, my hat goes off to you. There were so many trees down, but I never had to cross an obstacle on the trail. Job well done!! Looking forward to my next visit!

All the other reviews will tell you about the great views and they are all correct the views are wonderful. Here’s what I think might be helpful, this trail can be hiked by young and old. I saw one lady carrying an infant papoose style and I saw some people so old that I expected to see the Grim Reaper right behind them. You don’t need any special equipment or gear. It’s about 45 minutes to the peak, but it’s a steady uphill climb. taking some water would be smart but I saw lots of people without anything at all. It’s a heavily hiked trail and you'll pass people every few minutes. it’s listed on AllTrails as moderate but that is primarily because of the steady incline and the rough terrain, there are some real ankle twisters if you don’t watch where you step.

Great little circuit. The views are surprisingly good for The triangle area.

We drove 2:30 hrs just to hike here! And we had a great time. Our Lab had so much fun with the water and the hike:) a little damage from Hurricane but we can’t complain about it, we were just grateful the trails are still available.

A great moderate trail. Ups and downs make the trail better but then just an easy walk. A nice overlook helps the ambiance. Take the dog and take kids over 8.

Because this hike is very popular, suggesting to hike weekdays. The views are super amazing on a clear day, but so if not clear. It is upward so just go slow and stop often if you need to. There are wooden steps and rails in some places, others are rock steps. Go completely to the top to get the best from this hike because about 3 locations you think you are to the top but you are not. My #1 favorite BRP hike.
