The fire tower is a great reward at the end of the trail, but at some places there are slippery and/or loose rocks that make the way back down challenging. No plateaus or view points anywhere except at the top. Only a few very steep moments. With many water breaks and a 15 minute rest at the fire tower we clocked in at around 5 hours out and back. Best part was that it is mostly shaded the whole time which made the length bearable. Watch your footing as we did see a baby copperhead on the trail (surely mom was close by).

Nice trail, (p)lush with life. A good workout for trail running. This is my first ever comment and I’ve been using this ap for years, but I wanted to concur the other reviews that the biting flies will chase you right out. Be warned!

It was a challenge and there was a lot of lovely fauna to see including a fresh water spring. Nice views at the top and when you’re done you’ll feel like you had a good day in nature and have gotten some great exercise too.

Nice trail, completely in shade with lovely green cover and little brooks crisscrossing every now and then like naughty kids. Not very steep as few reviews suggested. The white markers take you right to the top and extend onto the AT. Do not miss the big pile of rocks once you feel like you reached the top. The view to the vista is left from the pile and can be easily missed. Technically the trail ends at the vista unless you are a through AT hiker. Nice to meet the through AT hikers and have a chat with them learning their experiences.

We took 3 kids, ages 11, 7 and 4 on the yellow trail to the lake and then back up. About 5 miles round trip.
We were looking for a fun, not to strenuous stream hike that we could do with the kids and that would involve getting wet on a hot day. This was perfect.
The kids loved hiking through the streams and climbing up some of the waterfalls along the way. We saw lots of frogs, a lizard and a snake. At the lake, we turned left and found a nice cleared area to sit, eat lunch and look at the fish up close. The hike back was more uphill but even our 4 year old persevered and made it. Be prepared for lots of mud along with the fun.

Very wet trail and top of fire tower is locked

Hi all, I was wondering if there’s someone who want to join this trail during this week! Let me know. INSTAGRAM: @Sarisdu or sarisdu@hotmail.com.

Views are beautiful for what is a short moderate hike but unfortunatley this is an extremely popular hike that gets overcrowded on the weekends. Its become such a problem that the town has come out creating and enforcing new parking laws so be carful in that aspect.

tougher then we thought. rain made the hike more technical. very nice view from the fire tower.

Gorgeous moderate hike. If you are looking for views this is a great pick. The trail is moderate and offers nice portions that are great for trail running. There are also many nice little overlooks so you can find your own spot to relax and take in the views.

Awesome Hike !!! This was my first hike. Great hike for beginners. Short hike with Great View!

Such a great hike on such a beautiful day!

This trail was great and had breathtaking views! It took us about 3 hours total. An hour hiking up. An hour at the top having lunch. An hour hiking back down. It is VERY steep coming up and down, we needed a 5 minute break going up. Also very rocky the entire hike. Make sure you have the proper shoes! When you reach a giant rock pile with the wooden sign that says “View” make a left by the blue dot trail and follow that up to see the view!

Fire tower was cool when I went to the top and the tv thing was awesome I loved it

Beautiful views from fire tower and small pocket view at the top of Graham mountain which is private property you have to call be for you go. Overall left turn is very steep but worth it

I started off at route 515 in Jersey. there begining is flat and easy on a boardwalk most of the way. when you cross route 94 you approach stairway to heaven. it's a steep climb mostly rocks zig zag top the top. beautiful views when you get there

Excellent hike! Very strenuous and at the 3/4 mark I questioned why I was still doing it hahaha, but totally worth it! The view was great and we met a lot of great people, religious hikers and through hikers. There’s a farm across the street, a small farmers market with a bathroom. Good for quick stop.

Very comfortable and short hike. Definitely recommend for beginners.

Maudslay State Park is a beautiful place to wander. There are an abundance of trails, many of which loop around the park.

Beautiful view from the ledge panther mountain has one good view. Hiked through to fox hollow steep and long 10.5 miles.

Nice hike even though trail gets crowded. Don't go when it's hot!

I Loved this Hike, I took four kids and we did both Giant ledge and Panther Mt, we went early in the morning so that it would not be as crowded, and the later in the day it got the more people we saw. veiws were Spectacular, I am recommending this hike to everyone I know, absolutely breathtaking!!!!

Beautiful views went from Giant ledge to fox hollow very difficult decline out 10.5 miles

Decent hike, and although the view was beautiful, it wasn’t breathtaking. No waterfall, more like a cute stream. Also, the lookout isn’t super marked. We continued past the lookout and realized we had overshot. Others had also done the same and thankfully we finally figured it out...after an extra mile +.

Cleanest hike with amazing view at top

Hiked 2 days ago. Trail is a well worn old jeep road so not exactly a nice trail, but good footing. Grade is mild to moderate the entire way. You can make better time than “book time “ due to trail conditions. Decent views from fire tower stairs (cabin closed)

Only went to giant ledge but didn’t realize it was a bunch of ledges. Amazing views and relatively easy hike to ledges. Would definitely recommend to all my friends.

Just hit the Ledge, not Panther. Pretty steep hike but some very nice views (at least 2 major ledges to peer off) for a relative short amount of work. Camping at the top. The descent is loads of fun, running and jumping down on all the rocks--be careful though.

We hiked the 6 mile route to the fire tower and back. Would suggest taking the second path up to the fire tower (parked at the Dry Brook parking area) as that was a little steeper than the first path to the fire tower and the first path would be easier to come down on. Amazing views and the fresh pine/fir smell wish I could bottle it!

I thru hiked this area and the out looks are soul touching ..for a day trip for someone ,I'd say it's a must ..happy trails
