Awesone view :)

I Hiked 11-7 it was raining in the early am. Then it turned beautiful. It was Diwali and my wife put Tilak on my far head to help guide my way. I went the easy way and followed the Burrows Trail. A little challenging at the very top. But this is very doable. Fantastic view. Saw like further then I could believe. ONE MAN GATHERS WHAT ANOTHER MAN SPILLS.

I went Monday 11-5 Lots of ice. Then when I got to the white rock trail it was a ton of snow Many of the markings are on the rocks So I could not see them but it seemed pretty obvious as to where you need to go. Very windy at the top but a fantastic view. ONE MAN GATHERS WHAT ANOTHER MAN SPILLS.

Great hike with an amazing view. Very popular so the top may be hard to find privacy.

October 25 18 - some snow on the trail which made it a little slippery but doable. Our first time on the trail and it was very well marked with blue paint. Highly recommend driving past the "Trout club private property" signs until the end of the road. There is a public parking lot for the hiking trail.

Well marked, great views, peaceful and little traveled. A little scrambly at the end but otherwise good footing. Definitely uphill, but nothing too steep. We made the same mistake many others did and thought we were at the top,but were just at a false summit. Trailhead is just a short way down an unmarked road just across from the Boy Scout camp at the end of lake eden

Really this would probably be 3 1/2 stars for me. This hike was pretty without much elevation but like another reviewer noted it is rocky! Once you cross over the creek that whole section of the trail is super rocky. I couldn't really enjoy my surroundings, because if you looked up while walking you'd twist an ankle. Our golden retriever had a rougher time then usual too with paw placement. A 2 mile hike to the pond should have taken our family of 4 around 40 minutes or less - we hike a lot. It took us over an hour to get to pond since it was slow going with the rocky path.

Please note... For parking if you see the "Private Property" sign, keep going. The Trout Club has signs up everywhere, but you can bypass the sign to park. We did not, parked in the lower lot and walked 1 mile to the trail head.
The hike was pretty easy for the first mile or so and it became a steady increase in incline. Lots of beautiful sights. Plenty of brooks for my dog to drink from. There is a nice waterfall before you get to the lodge. The view is not awesome at the lodge, but do they fret -- walk out and up a tiny bit for a beautiful sight! There's a map at the lodge. The trail marked with no milage, follow it!
Our friends 10 year old daughter came and had no issues!

Lots of rocks but beautiful trail overlooking the water the whole time! Perfect for a daily dose of nature.

So peaceful with great views of the pond. Walking over roots and rocks adds to the intensity, but overall an easy trail with lots of places to rest.

Great trail for a good work out. I would assume that is a great view of Burlington but the clouds were low when I went. Highly recommend.

Fun hike. Pretty steep in some spots. Great views on top. I continued East on the trail towards Middlesex and circled around to White Rock. This adds a couple miles on to the hike and you basically go down the East side and then back up. Well worth it in my opinion. Views to the East were spectacular. The climb back up to White Rock was challenging and fun. After reaching the top of White Rock you back track a bit and then take the trail heading back North to the Mount Hunger trail. Be prepared for water and mud. Have fun

Misty, foggy day, but beautiful stream-side hike. Foliage was great.

Sweet trail, easy start, a section of steeper trail, but not bad. Some nice waterfalls along the way. There was a pretty heavy fog up top today, it made for a beautiful hike with the mix of fog and fall foliage. Taylor Lodge was the perfect place to stop and have a snack before heading back down!

Very rewarding hike! Challenging going up but not too bad going down. The view at the top is worth it (even with the fog!) Took us 3 hours 45 minutes total. The waterfall is about 1/4 of the way into the hike. The top of the mountain is very spacious- tons of room to spread out and eat/rest.

This trail is now well marked . It states in the GMC guide to Vermont that : “although the elevation is not one of the highest it is among the most challenging in VT.”
I agree . I loved the view (but I also love that whole Eden area.)
The other reason I gave it a 5 is the variety of terrain and this trail is not well traveled by people so if you want to escape people this is the trail . Saw two partridge , at the summit many signs of moose . There is a false summit that gives a great view too. I took my time, with pictures , breaks etc . For me It was 4 hours round trip , or 14.300 steps on my fit bit . Poles very helpful on this trail , hairpin turns and rocky the last 1/2 mile .

Slow ascent to begin, then gets very steep! Very rocky at the top, including some light “rock climbing”. We took our 3 dogs up to the summit; however, it may be somewhat difficult for some dogs. There is a beautiful waterfall about halfway up that the pups can swim in and you have to cross to get to the other side. The view at the top was incredible! Very fun hike!

great hike!
I would say moderate and not hard.
Took us 5 hours in total from the parking lot and back include stops...
Amazing view, wet and a bit slippery forest and impressive pass from the forest to the Rocky summit.
could be better marked tho

9/23/18 Today was just a nice partly cloudy day for us too hike. It was in the 60's. We began the hike at 10:50am.Started on the monroe trail which is slightly steep. Then took Deans trail which was very nice and tranquil, was able to keep a steady pace. Make sure when you see an big open field on the right too go over and look and see the camel's hump from a distance. Spectacular view, an artist and photographers dream!! Then on to long trail where it gradually increases in altitude and also more obstacles to face with roots, rocks, boulders to scale with bare hands and on knees. Some spots slippery and wet on rocks and gravel. Then at the summit was unbelievably great feeling off happiness of this sight. We saw lake Champlain and 3 other mt peaks. The summit had a very neat alpine tundra biome as well.
An excellent hiking experience. Total hours for us was 5hrs 44 min. with 31,608 steps on pedometer. This was our first hike at 4,083ft. Be sure to bring warm clothing or extra shoes just in case. The summit can be windy and cold if it's not in summer season.

The hike was long but well worth it....

Well kept with all the traffic back and forth. Great scenery from the Green Mountain.

Enjoyed this hike. View are great at the top. Not much of a trail run due to boulders but a great workout. Took me 68 minutes both ways.

This is a challenging but rewarding hike. We took the Monroe Trail up and back. There are some rocky and slick spots, particularly after you’re about two miles in. The last .3 miles is very rocky and steep, but doable. It took us about 5 hours total. You cannot beat the 360 views at the top!

Not to steep, perfect for us! Best hike I have been on in my life!

Easy breezy

Great trail- only my second hike and it wasn’t too bad difficulty-wise. Definitely more scrambly near the summit but well worth it and quite fun! Was a bit wet but not too buggy. Unfortunately fog blocked our views but I’ll definitely be back for more!

Great views and amazing trails!

Awesome trail with amazing views at the top. Steep trail but well worth it. We were the only hikers at the summit

Fun and challenging trail. Great views to reward some scrambling. Good distance, won’t take you all day!

Wow, this trail is absolutely stunning. Yes there's a pond and a few nice views of the pond and surrounding views along this slippery loop trail, however the trail alone is worth visiting for this hike. Its kind of like- whatever you envisioned as woods in fairy tales when you were a child.
