Trail entrance is in the middle of nowhere, no cell phone service. Both my friend and my car's were broken into, wallet stolen, Lovely trail however, definitely not worth leaving the car. No one is around, it's a trucker's highway.

This trail is a couple miles further than the Willow Spring Trail on the opposite side, if you are heading East. In a lot of ways, it has a lot of similarities, being that it is mostly grazing land and scrub oak. The mountains are a nice backdrop. The trail has decent elevation gain, and it is in good shape. No poison oak, a few ticks. It is no longer overgrown. There was no water, either in the Cuyama River below, or in Fish Creek, so it will be dry until we get more rain. There were various other trails that were not on my map, so I didn't know where they went, so I just stuck to the map. The end of the trail is pretty random, i.e. no real end, as the trail continues On IG as @picbynathan

Scenic trail. When you first drive up it will be gated so you’ll have to open it to drive in and close it back up. For the trail itself, it has different stages. First portion is pretty open and unshaded. Definitely have a good amount of water as it gets warm. Then it goes into the oak trees that provide some good shade. We went in August so there was no mud through this section. Last portion towards the end is somewhat steep but looks really cool with trees and vegetation all around.

We started early, definitely a must on this trail, otherwise you’re in the blazing sun the first mile. After that it gets patchy shade. The trail is well maintained as others have said, only came across a handful of other hikers headed up when we were headed down. Great views all the way up. At the top of the climb, where the trail forks, we went right and followed it down to the creek, which I’m assuming is Willows Springs, but not sure it wasn’t marked. Not worth going to.

I hiked the full trail this weekend 7/26/2020. The trail starts off moderate with lots of switchbacks but after about an hour in it does get progressively tougher. If you are not in good shape stick to an hour out and hour back. Past the hour the climb is pretty steep. Trail is in excellent condition and saw absolutely no one. Highly recommended if you do not want to run into people. If hiking in summer brings lots of water.

Quiet (saw one other group of 2). Well worn trail (you'll not get lost, poison oak has been trimmed back). I'd call it light to moderate hiking (lots of switch-backs to ease the climbs, no rocky trip hazard areas). Beautiful scenery (valley views, wild flowers, gnarly oaks). It would have been nice to see some wildlife. We only saw a few cows. Take water and a snack!

Nice trail with quite a bit of elevation. Shade is hard to come by so bring plenty of water. Lots of poison oak about two miles in.

Heart pounding climb for the last 1/2 mile. A bit muddy with our late spring rains. No magical view point at the top, but lots of beautiful trees and lookout spots along the trail. Only saw 10 people the whole hike!

This was a gentle uphill climb for the majority of the hike. There is one short portion just prior to arriving at the top that was steeper. Not a lot of loose gravel. You have to open a gate to drive inside and park. The hike starts in open rolling greens spotted with cows (and cow patties - watch out!). Just a lot of switchbacks with increasing numbers of trees until you get to the top. We also descended down the backside to find the spring. It is preceded by a lovely meadow sprinkled with pink wildflowers. I would definitely do this hike again - going down to the spring and back up made this about an 8 mile hike.

some shade near the creek. saw some nice wildflowers, like California fuschia. Nice chance in elevation. some parts were overgrown, still good for trail running too. would love to come back in the Spring. Bring sturdy boots for loose gravely descent and long pants for all the thorny seeds. The map doesn't indicate loop but trail could be done in a loop.

Very beautiful this time of year. Wildflowers abound. Saw several deer too. Gonna have to come back and mountain bike this one!

This is a nice little trail off the 166. there is a lot of oak trees and high grass until you get up higher. Near the top there is a grove of red shanks, which are pretty rare. Bring plenty of water as Willow Spring was a muddy mess and not easy to filter. At the top there is a nice grassy area to relax before heading farther into the los Padres if backpacking. the bottom half of the trail has quite a few cow patties. on IG as @picbynathan
