Very nice trail with shade most of the time.

Love the hike. Fantastic view and kid friendly.

This is PERFECT for a quick hike or a run. The loop is about 2 miles, steeper to go up on the left side, and then coming back down the other side has nice smooth switch backs. I ran the loop twice and it’s nearly entirely in the shade. Not too trafficked either -It was actually very quiet and peaceful. There is a $3 fee for Millcreek canyon, but it’s worth it.

Great trail. Everything you can ask for.

This was our 3rd hike since moving to Salt Lake City. I would highly recommend this trail if you are a moderate hiker. The topography was my favorite so far. The tall trees cover most of the hike and you constantly have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. It isn’t too intense for anyone and the view of the city is amazing once your up there.
#topofthemountain

This was pretty good. Well maintained trail with only a few rocky sections. The view at the top was great, but difficult to enjoy due to bugs and lack of sitting places.

The actual mileage is 5.2, but its super relaxing; gets a little crowded so I would make sure to start by 0700. The scenic overlook is good, but not as good as Living Room (though the hike is better).

A lot of doggos. So many good boys.

This is a beautiful trail. I suggest going counter clockwise because the second half is steeper so it’s easier to go down.

Fantastic view of a Canyon
Same view than Antelope and nobody on the pictures !

Amazing quick hike with a terrific view. Would like to explore this area more.

Love this hike a lot. Just be careful because toward the end there are steep hills with loose gravel. ALSO it’s easy to get on the wrong path with the trails that meet with it so I would have this handy dandy map out.

Great out and back with fantastic views of SLC. Really green, even in late summer. If you’re a birder, great high elevation coniferous forest is likely great in the morning. With only ~1000ft elevation gain, going up isn’t difficult and switchbacks aren’t bad. About 65% of the trail is shaded which is great. We hiked this mid-day in August, sunny spots were hot, but plenty of shade. Every group we ran into that afternoon was all women, get it ladies!! Not in any rush, this took us about 2.5hrs. Do be aware that there is a $3/car area use fee on the way out

It is a great trail

I live in the last house before the trail and let me tell you, we love that hikers use it! Some neighbors down the street are real strict about parking and we have been fighting to prevent a gate at the bottom of the street. there are lots of wasps on the trail (especially by the 2 water spots near the beginning of the hike) and occasionally a snake in the bushes. i take my small dog up there nearly every day and would say the bees are the only pests. It has some steep parts near the top with loose rock so be careful and go straight then right to see the waterfall when you reach the rock slide. Please pick up after your dogs and throw it in the bucket at the bottom of the trail and don't be shy, say hi if we're outside!

pretty easy, quick hike. Really beautiful views of the city. There is a lot of loose gravel is some of the "peaks". The rest is pretty much dirt. Would definitely do it again.

Went on a Sunday morning around 9:30 and there were a handful of groups so I felt like I had the place largely to myself. Several stretches suitable for running back. Right now it was pretty smoky :(

This hike has beautiful lakes to hike past as you hike to Lofty Lake. At the summit you can see several Mountian ranges as well as other lakes around.

We did this route counter clockwise. This route starts out all uphill for the first 1.5 miles. The trail is well defined in most places and there are a few cairns laid where the trail may get confusing. After reaching the ridge summit you come to Lofty Lake. Great place to take a rest and grab some water and snack. Most of the trail from here is downhill. We saw a few people camping here. Next you come to Cutthroat lake although the trail doesn’t take you down to it. There is a spur trail that can take you down. Our final lake was Kamas Lake. This is the largest of the lakes on this loop. The water was cold but not enough to keep us from taking a quick dip. Once you leave Kamas lake you scramble down some rocky trail and then wander through meadows until you reach the parking lot where you began. For us the weather was just right and we had a breeze to keep the bugs off us. We didn’t even use bug spray. Great quick loop. Would be challenging for kids but not impossible. We saw plenty of families with small children. I would rate this trail as moderate.

!!GETTING TO THE TRAILHEAD!!
you'll have to park on the east side of Wasatch Blvd. Then walk up canyon cove road, take your first left, then your first right up wind canyon rd, I believe. THEN you get to the teailhead. enjoy!

Great burner trail run when you’re short on time. Be on the lookout for rattlesnakes tho, one at the top today right before the waterfall.

easy hike. the directions took us to a culdesac tho? the hike actually starts at the park next door to the lds church. we did the loop where the waterfall was supposed to be as well and i never saw anything? lol maybe i was too busy talking or theres not much left this time of year?

Plenty of shade, good views, it doesn’t cross any rivers or streams and that’s a good thing sometimes. I’ll be back to enjoy this short hike again sometime.

Absolutely amazing. Bring tons of water, and if you’re not used to the altitude, you’re gonna be working a lot harder than normal.

Great trail. Went up to Thayne peak. Pretty steep the last 300m. But what a view. Worth the extra effort.

Beautiful & remote trail with lots of different scenery along the way to a serene lake. Great trail for adventurous tourists!

Busy trail, very shaded. I wouldn’t recommend it for young children. Awesome view at the top.

7/22 - Pretty busy (but went on Founders Day). Hot but was about 50% shaded. A decent view for the effort exerted.

One of my favorites. But it’s further than 4.5 miles. The views are amazing ! It’s mountain heaven !!

Pretty steep on the way up! Luckily didn’t see any rattle snakes. Loose rocks at the top so be careful where you step. I almost slipped and fell pretty far. But the views were well worth it! Got done in about and hour and fifteen
