Sweet little trail, when I arrived the top parking lot was completely full so I needed to park in the overflow and walk the mile back in to the trailhead. The rangers were very present and warning about the high bear activity and providing safety tips. While on the trail a ranger came by and warned me to be on alert as there was currently a bear on the trail just ahead of me, because they are not super aggressive bears and it was daylight, I was not really worried, I just made the determination to not break out my lunch, so the bear would not be tempted. One thing I noticed was that others were not as conscious about their eating habits-there were apple cores and banana peels all along the trail, which of course was drawing in the bears.

Tougher than I was expecting as it is a steady incline nearly the entire way. The view is absolutely worth the climb and the fire tower is incredible from the top. 2hrs roundtrip.

My wife and I took our dog and our boys hiking there yesterday. Crossing the creek was a bit challenging at the North end of the trail and it was a bit muddy, but overall it was a nice hike and the trail was well marked. They need to fix some of the steps though, the wood or rock has slid and it leaves an exposed rebar rod sticking out of the ground.

Gret amaxing wonderful trail. its a loop one. not hard. Great to families with kids and pats. nice atmosphere of the wild forest. Very very recommended. Its rated as Moderate, however its very EASY. we enjoyed very much (family with 12, 15 years kids)

This was an incredible hike! Great workout and spectacular views. At a brisk pace and with about 2 mi of trail running on the way back, it took us around 3 hours to get to the top of Peaked Mountain and back to the parking lot. Closer to 8 miles, not 6.2. If you’re planning to climb to the top and not turn around at the pond, know that the last section should be rated difficult and the hike overall is moderate not easy in my opinion.

Not a fan. Most of this is trail is on pavement around a lake that has algae warnings. Mosquitos were terrible even with deet.

If you heading to see shelving rock falls, be sure to do this quick hike to catch some summit views of lake George too. Very easy hike for any age or active level.

This is the perfect walk with amazing views of Lake Champlain. It’s also a great bike ride, including a paid ferry trip to Chicago next to the Lake Champlain Islands.

As a lot of other reviews state, the trails could be marked a bit better. They’re a little muddy after all the rain we have had, which is to be expected. If you’re looking for the waterfalls, you need to take the red trail across the road from the parking lot. Then the easiest way I found is to keep taking any trail going to the right to stay along the creek.

Nice trail with a variety of scenery and picturesque waterfalls. The trail was very faint in places the first couple miles, but the blue markers helped. Some good views in spots at the summit, but it would be so much better if the fire tower were accessible. A gradual accent with no really steep sections. I really liked this hike to get away from the crowds.

This was a difficult hike mostly up steep terrain. Coming down is slippery -bring walking sticks. I would call this more than moderate difficulty.

Clearly marked trail off the Warren County Bikeway approx. 1/2 mile north of Rte. 149. The start is very steep and rocky, it had rained the night before so it was also slippery. Took an hour and 15 min up and 45 min back. Overall a nice moderate hike.

This is a must do, whether you’re a local or just visiting. It’s easy, it’s scenic and it’s a fabulous way to see the lake.

A wonderful hike though it was a little dicey in parts. Winter appears to have brought some changes to the landscape.

A word of warning. This is a beautiful walk along Peaked Mt. Brook to the Pond. The Easy rating is appropriate here. But the trail up from the pond has steep rocky sections. It is enjoyable and the views make it worth the effort but it does require effort.

Very nice easy hike to the water. I loved the falls and nice sandy beach. Bring a camera and a picnic basket and enjoy the day!

For sure one of the more difficult hikes we have been on. It was a challenging hike but very rewarding and beautiful at the summit. Prepare to get your heart rate up. Great for older kids...not for younger ones....and our King Charles loved the hike....recommend for all but bear in mind...this is no cake walk!

We went at the end of July. It was a nice day - not too hot and had rained recently. Trail is nice and well maintained, but we only made it half way to the lake before we turned around. the bugs were absolutely RELENTLESS! Some day I hope to revisit when there's less chance of bugs.

Nice easy walk through the woods. We did an out and back total of 4.5 mi from the Mt. Morris Dam & Recreation area. All “scenic” views were within the first half mile or so. Bring big spray if you’re going further than that as the mosquitoes got pretty bad. Tip: you’ll save the $10 entrance fee if you don’t enter through the Park Rd. side of the park first, stay on this (the south side) of the park and you’ll be good.

Hadley was a lot steeper than I was led to believe. The view at the top was worth it though! My Fitbit tracked it to be more than 4 miles, not the 3.4 listed above.

Awesome hike, Decent incline- Worth the views. check out the back side once at top, awesome views!

Great little pit stop to break up a drive. Short loop hike right off rte#9 with a small rest area and parking lot

We really enjoyed this hike. It reminds us of The Pinnacle in comparison. Once you reach the top you’ll see the lake but the views are restricted. Definitely follow the small paths down...it will lead you to an open area with views. The views are amazing!!

Steady incline for most of the hike with several areas being solid rock with no ground covering (which we referred to as sidewalk). Great views but quite busy!

on Merck Forest Trail

Loved this. Network of trails criss-crossing above a well- maintained farm and berry patches. Yes it’s perfect for families with little kids and olds, but grown solo and couple hikers will absolutely love this too. Hat aloft to the keepers of the Merck forest and farm, beautiful job.

I hiked this trail last weekend as the first stop (chosen at random) for the Firetower Challenge. Fairly straight forward, it was steeper than I expected at some points but I’m also pretty out of shape. Views were amazing up at the fire tower and the steward was friendly and helpful in answering everyone’s questions. Lots of dogs and kids on the trail that day, which was nice to see. I would definitely hike it again.

Great trail. Started at Mt. Morris. Hiked 6 miles south and then back to dam. Very well marked with great views. All forest and overlooks.

Beautiful!!

The bike ferry that connects to the Champlain Islands is operational and run by Local Motion in Burlington. This really adds to this already great walk or ride.
