I did this trail last year. It was cool and the rangers definitely push people towards this trail. The one across the street is far cooler. Both are closed, apparently, due to recent volcano activity.

Hike was not difficult. Parking was easy on both side of road. Signs marked the beginning of the trail and stone piles marked the trail until the wooden board walk to view the petroglyphs. We brought water. It was sunny and a light breeze sometimes. There was a warning sign about fumes but we didn’t experience any problems.

This is an excellent trail marked by cairns across a.hundreds-year old lava bed, which ends at a boardwalk around thousands of Petroglyphs. Well worth the stop, and bring water.

The Trees and tropical vegatation is unbelivably HUGE. It is amazing and very different. Trail is easily marked with beautiful waterfalls.

The trail is closed

Beautiful trail.

This was fantastic for a shorter trail. The super dense woods were beautiful and peaceful.
There are fire rings at the camp sites for anyone who dares to backpack in firewood.
There's a group of five sites near each other in one of the camping areas, but only a couple have good access to the lake for water.
The one site that is by itself (3/4 mile from the others) has access to water and it's own biffy (there's one for the five sites to share).
Piknic tables at every site as well.
Went on a Thursday night and didn't run into anyone backpacking or camping.
Bugs minded their own business.
The bull frogs were VERY loud at night which made for a difficult night of sleep.
I would definitely hike this trail again with ear plugs for sleeping.

Enjoyable trail to visit and easily accessible -

Cool if you've never seen a lava tube before.

Still closed from hurricane Maria but the rainforest is gorgeous and still worth the visit. They do allow you far enough up (driving) to see Coca Falls and to the first viewing tower. There isn't a lot of parking but stay patient and you will get a spot. There is a 30 minute time limit on parking. Only trail we found that was open was Angelito. Short but it leads you to a nice stream.

Great path, easy to navigate. The campsites by the lake are pretty, we just stopped for lunch. The trail felt safe, we saw a few other hikers with their dogs but it’s not crowded. I have a big dog and he did fine, it’s nice and cool in the woods and he dipped his paws in the lake when we got down there. You do have to pay $5 at the self serve station across the street from the trailhead.

Really Beautiful Hike. Wasn't too hard at all!

Great trail clearly marked. So peaceful

This trail is inaccessible as of today 6/24/2018 due to road construction.

My favorite hike in el Yunque forest. Have done it so many times that lost count. It is beautiful hike and the views on the Rock (to the right couple of minutes prior reaching the top) are amazing. Then can go down the road to reach Mt Britton and continue that trial which connects to Yunque trail or continue the road until another trial to have different view and then just take the road back to the parking lot. Not sure if it has open after the hurricane so check before going.

Awesome petroglyphs. Worth doing

Enjoyable trail for biking. We needed to get out of beach wind and this was the ticket. My wife navigated just fine and she's slightly better than a beginner. Unfortunately, our ride ended in disappointing fashion as our car had been broken into while we were on the trail. Hard lesson to jog the brain - don't have anything of value in your vehicle.

Beautiful and interesting, description is spot on. Fun

Nice deep woods trail.

Very pretty, looks like a scene from Tolkien’s Middle Earth.

Not to be missed on a trip to the park. A major stop for the tour busses so if you can go earlier. It isn’t lit before 10 am so bring a light, even the light on your phone will work. Follow the tube through to the other side and the trail will loop back.

Really beautiful scenery on what I would consider brand new earth land (I. The grand scheme of things)

Really nice walk to fascinating ancient drawings in lava.

Nice walk- short but cool if you’ve never been to a lava tube before. Great with kids!

Tack a visit through the lava tube onto the Kilauea Iki hike. If you have never seen a lava tube before, it is worth seeing it to get a glimpse of the sheer size and magnitude of what goes on underground in a volcano.

A short and well maintained trail, cool to see the lava tube. But there were so many tour buses pulling up every moment that there was basically a line to get through and everyone was moving very slowly and taking up the whole path with their selfie sticks.

Short, easy, crowded. But pretty cool looking and especially interesting geologically

Beautiful trail! Highly recommend!
