Hiked the loop with my 5 and 3 year old. Great views!

cost $11 per adult and no running
not a place for trail running.

My favorite trail at the Monument. Been hiking it for over 50 years. Their has been a lot of changes during that time. In my youth we ran/jogged up and back. Now I choose to walk one way or the other but not both ways the same day.

Great little trail on top of Scottsbluff National Monument. Great views of surrounding bluffs and the surrounding area. Great flowers and plants depending on time of year. I try to make it there whenever we visit family in the area.

Very nice and well kept up. We’ll come back again.

Great trail with some awesome views of the river. It can get difficult at times with inclines and declines. C route is the longest but probably has the best views of the river. Highly recommend this trail if your in Yankton looking for a moderately challenging trail with sights.

We did the whole loop and found it challenging. We are both in good physical shape. Work out regularly with interval training and strength training. There were several long, steep climbs and descents. If we had had any rain, it would have been very slick with mud. Horses use the trail too and there were sections that were very churned up. That said, we did enjoy the views. I would also warn folks that the trail signs are confusing. I’m used to following blazes on the AT which I find much easier than the system the park uses. We will go back but be better prepared next time.

If you are in the area Smith Falls is an absolute must see. On a road trip through the area? Stretch your legs and spend some time here. In recent years this area has become a destination for those who like lazy river activities and beautiful lush green camping. And for good reason. This is a gem of a find in a very unexpected location. That being said, the waterfall by itself is not something to drive across Nebraska for.

Unusual rock formations. Be sure to grab the numbered pamphlet with the explanations and descriptions.

Easy, accessible, and the tallest waterfall in Nebraska! Good job Game and Parks!

love this unrated place.

This trail is pretty in every season! The lake views are great year round, but especially at sunset time! There are various kinds of trees along the trail, and it keeps it cooler (in many areas) even on hot days. The skies are big and easy to see, which makes it great for around sunset time and for star gazing. My husband and I like that the trail is wide enough for us to walk side by side and still pass other people coming in the opposite direction.

I think it's fun to walk on the lake or go ice skating, when it freezes over in the Winter! It's also lovely for kayaking or canoeing during the other 3 seasons. There are benches along the trail to rest, and bridges to cross with lovely views. There is a giant mount/levee for part of the trail and it provides wonderful sunset views, as well as sledding off of it in the Winter, and kite flying on windy days. There are lots of ducks and birds, and occasionally (but rarely), other animals to see as well. The trail is comfortable for walking for all ages too! I highly recommend it!

Amazing... like you're on another planet when you're there! Bring some shoes that you don't mind getting dirty and that have good traction so you can climb all the cool hills and rocks!

BRING BUG SPRAY! We used 40% Deet and did pretty well against the mosquitos. Anything less that that you might as well just run back to the car!

Beautiful scenery and just a really nicely maintained trail that almost anyone could walk.

Once we got to the top, the views of the surrounding valleys were amazing!

Boring and short. Views of the city.

Poorly marked, lots of overgrown parts of the trail. Nice views of the Platte. I picked up a grocery bag full of litter. This trail could definitely use some attention. If it rained heavily it would be too muddy to navigate certain parts. Enjoyable enough if you’re there. Wouldn’t drive out of my way to hike this trail.

Pretty trail with great views, lots of elevation changes, wildflowers.

Nice paved trail, very accessible, easy. The visitor center is also very nice.

I absolutely loved Fontenelle Forest! The trails are clearly labeled, and you can find a map online or get one at the visitor center. The forest is beautiful, and there’s also a prairie area with a lake if you’re willing to hike pretty far! As someone who typically hikes 5+ miles, I appreciated that there was 10 miles of trails available. The biggest drawback is the $9.50 admission price :( Overall, a great hike. There is a lot of up and down—I would call it moderate. Highly recommend!

Busy, nice, in town walk around a small lake. Takes about 45 min. To walk. Sunsets are always nice.

I run this every once in a while, beautiful for being in the middle of town and easy- good for the whole family. Paved road around a lake, moderate traffic

Our family enjoyed this trail. Paved, with some seating areas along the way that provide some shade. That was nice considering there are no trees on this portion of the plains and the day we did this hike it was 105 degrees. The fossil hill is very interesting to see. Never crowded, and the views of the rolling plains are beautiful. Away from the trail, make sure you go into the visitors center to view the Vault of Native American artifacts that were handed down to people who settled the land. It's an incredible collection

About 15 miles off the main highway in this area. 10-15 miles on a gravel road to get to it but well marked so you won't get lost. No visitors center, just a trail head and great rock formations. Sod house near the trail head to see. I think the fee was $3 and it's just a drop box with a sort form. Trail is very well marked and kept. Black posts to guide you along the way. Our five year old was with us and he absolutely loved this trail. We were in the area so it made sense for us to stop. We don't mind gravel roads in western Nebraska to find a good trail. About 20 miles from Fort Robinson, this would be your nearest area of convenience. If you are in the area it's worth the stop.

Will definitely do it again

Great well maintained trail paved the whole way. Go early, say 6:30 in morning when cool. Take a light jacket

picked a cold day to ride and somehow missed the south end of the trail. not well marked at south end or I was just too tired to see it! beautiful trail. didn't see a human for over 2 hours
