New path to the tower; nice views and family friendly

Good work out in every season

Went in October, super colorful in the fall. Was hard to find parking for trail. You have to park at the Holy Hill Church. Most of the trail has trail markers, not all parts of the trail though.

Very nice undulating elevation consistently throughout 5 mile loop.

Beautiful dirt trail. Cool part passes through a corn field.

Nice well marked trails through varied terrain of mature hardwood and fields. Natural kettle morain topography of hills and ridges finishing at Pike Lake.

Excellent hike. Went with my chesapeake bay retrieve. beautiful day for a hike.

beautiful observation tower. nice wooded trails that lead to pike lake.

One of our favorite ice age trail segments. Bugs are no problem now, Sept. 18, and not much rain recently.

Great view, nice trail with some degree of difficulty off and on.

Parked on Hwy 167 and took the yellow trail on the south side of the road. This is an easy trail. There is a steep climb to an optional lookout. We couldn't see anything due the tree coverage. It may be much more scenic when the leaves drop in the fall. The trail was narrow and heavily wooded and there were numerous other hikers on the trails. You could hear cars throughout a good portion of the trail and at 12:00 pm, the Basilica rang bells, which was neat. It wasn't my favorite trail of the summer but if you are looking for a nice easy walk, this is a great place for that.

Nice hike, but super buggy.

Overall awesome hiking. Saw about a dozen people while actually on the trails. Only thing for improvement is that the trails aren't marked as well as they could be and the map is horrible. Dog did well and was grateful that other hikers that had dogs were all on leashes!!!!

Nice trail which crosses a river. The trail was very buggy. Even with lots of bug spray, it was miserable. Will go back in the fall and try to walk further without bugs. There were no others on the trail and it was peaceful.

Hiked in fall & was way less buggy! Only made it 20 minutes this time without being attacked by every bug imaginable ): Saw baby frogs so that was the highlight.

Nice wooded trail with a great view from the observation deck. I did this hike with my 11 year old son and we both really enjoyed it. A bonus is pike lake. Nice beach if you want to end with a swim.

Great for hiking with dog! Taken it several times. Well marked and we have seen Turkey, Deer, and many other types of wildlife. Would suggest for any nature lover.

Nice trail. Can see Holy Hill from the tower. Restrooms are available by the lake. Not paved so could be muddy if it's been raining.

The trail was well marked with yellow blazes on the trees even though a bunch of small side trails weave through. I'd definitely suggest bug spray, but it's doable without. The section through town was a little odd, but descent views along the rest of the hike. In true Wisconsin fashion the trail put us right next to a Culver's, so there's that.

parking area is a tad hard to find, but well marked!

We a great time hiking between the kames with our dogs. The song birds and frogs singing made it very peaceful.

We've hiked PL many times in all seasons and we always enjoy it. Hilly with nice, wide trails. Great for the dog too. And you're treated to great views at the top of the tower.

Wide trails. Lots of people trail running. Pike Lake is a really popular spot so there were tons of people everywhere in the summer. The heavily forested parts of the trail are nice and so is the tower. It's an ok spot to spend some time in the woods, but if you are looking for quiet, maybe get further north into the Kettle Moraine where there are fewer people. During the winter time there are naturally a lot less people so if you are looking for a nice little winter hike this could be a good option.

Nice wide trails for a group to hike together on. There are a variety of difficulty levels to choose from. Right now the trails are pretty icy but you can hike on the ridge.

I hiked the southern most section of this trail (out and back between Hwy 167 and Donegal Rd) the third week of October. The fall colors were great, and I loved the trail. There were a lot of ups and down, and twists and turns in the trail which made it interesting. I also did each of the 3 spurs to the tops of kames. I included some walking on the grounds of the basilica and a climb to the top of the church spire which offered a wonderful view of the surrounding country side. The Ice Age Trail was well marked and there were at least a couple of benches and some nice scenic views, especially at the tops of the kames. I hiked on a weekday and only saw one trail runner and one other couple the entire hike (though Holy Hill itself was very crowded.) I would highly recommend the southern section. I can't comment on the section north of Hwy 167 since I haven't hiked it yet.

beautiful and peaceful trail

Most people come to this site to visit the Basilica and shrine. The hiking trail is adequate but does not have any observation or rest points along the route. Signage is sufficient for a point-to-point hiking trail. The path is a natural trail which means that leaves, tree roots, and stumps scatter the pathway. Hills are small and easy. Today's fall foliage was fantastic and worth the trip in and if itself.
