This was marked by someone who has never hiked. I don’t have any other explanation. The first time I went around I got off trail about 4 times I had to backtrack and by the end lost the trail completely, ended up on someone’s driveway and took that out. I thought I could go the opposite way to see where I went wrong and instead ended up taking a big circle back to the parking lot.
I have been hiking for over 30 years and never had a more frustrating experience than this loop. The blue seems what you follow when you start and then the yellow comes out of nowhere. There are probably 50-100 trails that branch off for access from peoples homes.
I wanted to love this because it’s so close to home but it’s awful and I’ll only ever go back for kayaking.

This trail by far is the best hiking trail in the Quabbin. The best part of the trail is the observation tower on Quabbin Hill. I like to bring food to picnic on that hill and to rest and really soak in the experience from there. It's a great way to spend a day in the Quabbin.

Awesome

Now that the park is open I noticed they want $6 or $8 at the gate, a day-use fee. Nobody was manning the station so I just parked (there is a self-service pay station but I was only planning on being there an hour or so). Maybe next time I'll just pay it, they keep the place in pretty good shape. I did a little bushwack on this trek and also noticed they mended the fence so it's more difficult to get into the quarry area. That is private property so suppose I should stay out. A nice loop for sure and the Doggy Memorial, absolutely precious.

I agree with previous comments, not difficult at all. Summit view was beautiful.

This trail definitely earned the hard rating, but if you’re up to the challenge it’s a lot of fun! The views from the observation tower are fantastic!

Beautiful views, and great hike..

The trail is scenic and its around 8 miles. Follow the yellow markings on trees as the trails are not marked well. Shoutout to the app the map and gps tracking helped us. There are too many mosquitoes, carry insect repellant and hiking gear.

4.25/5 is my review and we only saw a fraction of the park. The staff at the gates were very helpful and the park itself is pristine with clear water and and easy terrain. Living minutes away, this place is a gem.

Me and my bestfriend did this hike today!!! Loved every second of it. Peaceful, and relaxing! A lot of activities too. People bring their dogs, they jog, there’s people swimming! Very clean, very nice! Would definitely recommend to everyone who you like to walk peacefully.

Enjoyable and pretty easy hike. There were quite a lot of bugs in some areas (this is end of May 2018). But I will definitely be back here again.

Approximately 4 Miles.
Was initially difficult to figure out the yellow trail but eventually was nicely labeled. There was a VERY short spot where you have to walk on the street bridge.
Love the waterfall area.

Great hiking trail but is definitely NOT 6.6 miles! It's 8 miles give or take and 3 hours around. The view of the lake is beautiful! Wear hiking boots because you go thru muddy wet terrain.

Tons of dogs not on leashes as required. Lots of dog poop and trash. Would recommend you bring a trash bag and try to clean up.

Nice trek around the reservoir. Made my way over to the quarry which was fun to see. Next time I might try and run around it. It is full of water and looks pretty deep. Went thru the Girl Scout Camp on my way back, no campers yet. A nice property!

I really enjoyed this hike. I agree with the others, it is closer to an 8 mile walk, not 6. It was over 3.5hours to walk it. A few tricky spots over muddy creeks but probably due to recent rain.

Steep on the telephone trail

I hiked this one a couple weeks ago. I would rate its difficulty as moderate.Nice forest setting but no peaks or outcrops to view the landscape. The caves were pretty cool but a little treacherous to climb down to. I was disappointed not to see the Indians in the cave.We must of arrived while they were out hunting game

Great hiking here! Gives you a great work out and our dog loves it too!

Beautiful trail with diverse scenery!

I am a veterinary student in Grafon, MA and love bringing my dog here for study break walks/hikes. Mammoth Trail and Whistling Rock Caves are our favorites when we are feeling a bit adventurous. Taking a walk down to the pond is also an easy relaxing trip.

Very pleasant hike, will definitely be back! According to my tracker, the trail was 7.6 miles.

Amazing trail been using it my whole life there is a beaver damn on one side by the boat ramp side

Really nice trail, bit of elevation gain/loss but not too bad. Lots of geocaches along the way. Not a ton of views.

Not too hard.

nice walk around the lake. very good marked with yellow signs

Gorgeous water views all the way around. Plan on 3+ hours, it is definitely longer than 6 miles. You are almost always with in sight of a house or road, you are not out alone in nature. We saw one park ranger and one other group of hikers the whole way around. Despite all the houses it was very peaceful (in February).

Very nice winter hike. I altered the route and was glad I did. Instead of coming back on Park Loop Road, I took the Whistling Cave Trail. Besides being able to see the Whistling Cave, this trail was much less traveled and has a more rustic vibe. There are a few small brooks you have to cross when the water is higher . There are some beautiful rock formations there too! PS wear some micro spiked if going in the winter. There are some icy areas.

beautiful Trails, very dog friendly off leash, great clean water.

A really nice loop. There is a beaver in there somewhere but couldn't find his home.
