Awesome day hiking Rainbow Falls and Turtle Back today. Very cold temp dropping down to below 20 degrees; however, we managed to get some good shot(s) of the falls as well as the rainbow! Good times.

Great easy Trail right off the road. Great for kids and dogs.

Beautiful trail. Many streams and small waterfalls along with the large waterfall at the end. It is a hard ascent but it isn't technical- all trails have stairs or bridges when needed. Get there early for parking. Lots of people and dogs were out enjoying the day even on a cold winter day.

The trail is relatively short and not too challenging, and has a lot of great views of the waterfall, which was much bigger in person than I expected. Be sure to keep an eye out for trail offshoots that lead closer to the falls for even better views (we found one that put us literally right next to it).

This is one of the best trails. The elevation change is nice. Moderate is accurate even with snow and ice on the trails. Hiking poles were helpful. The trail is very well marked. The views are spectacular regardless of weather. The fog rolling in & out gave a wonderful changing view.

It’s a hard hike but it’s so beautiful! Just show how early cause there is normally a hour wait time just to get into the park.

Lots of switchbacks but still pretty steep. Fairly difficult but the view is worth it.

Closed due to government shutdown...

Beautiful hike. The views at the pasture are amazing and well worth it. Definitely a work out but between all the different elements of beautiful rock with algae formations, creeks/ fairy oasis waterfalls, and the abundance of trees makes you want to keep on going until you get to the top

Climbed Table Rock on 1/9/19 with future son in law Jim. Try to climb early January each year to get the year off right. Cold but sunny day. Temp in mid 40s.
Love the climb. Strenuous is correct Well worth the view.

I did this trail in December and mostly had it to myself on a rare sunny day in the middle of the week. The falls are huge and breathtaking. The trail is well maintained with some small inclines. There was a little ice on the inclines when I went which made it a little slippery in spots but not bad. The stairs down to the falls are worth the effort. A good short little hike and workout.

I did this little trail in December before the snowstorm forced its closure. It’s a nice, easy trail and great place to enjoy the fresh air and just get outside. The boardwalks would make a great scene for a photo shoot in the fall. There were remnants of fall color when I went and I bet it’s stunning in the peak of fall. The falls are small and several people have attempted to climb them and fallen off and died...

Beautiful falls but very crowded at times. It’s right off the road and you can pull over and see the falls without even walking down. I’ve been once and had no one around. I got lucky I guess! Beautiful places are popular for a reason though.

Beautiful hike, even with sleet. 4.9 miles on the loop.

Great hike. You will cross streams to wear waterproof shoes

Not strenuous at all, but a nice wide, relatively flat walk along the riverside with smaller falls appearing first and then a beautiful high set of falls at the end of mile. Take your mom.

The ranger was not exaggerating the amount of steps and elevation gain that are involved in this hike but as promised it has some great views. If you have knee hip or ankle issues be prepared for lots of uneven steps maybe consider using poles. We hiked this after a lot of rain so the trail was fairly muddy. No shortage of waterfalls to see on the way up. Lots of large boulders to stop and take a break. For SC this is a great option if you are looking for a challenge. Overall great hike.

Great trail with kids or dogs!!

It was a bit rainy when we went but that just made the waterfall look even more spectacular. Great view of Rainbow Falls, didn't go all the way to Turtleback because we had the dogs with us and they weren't really behaving well that day but would love to go back!

Great trail with a beautiful waterfall at the end.

A fun hike. A bit muddy but we enjoyed it. Kids did better than myself who slipped a few times. There's a small river to go through...seemed a lot didn't realize this. Wear proper hiking shoes or an extra set.

Waterfall was really nice and tucked away. A bit crowded for a few moments. Overall a cool hike.

Worth the visit. Very well kept and friendly folks around. Waterfalls are amazing. Would definitely come back for another run.

Great for the whole family! A hidden gem.

Excellent day on the blue ridge

Spectacular views with just enough challenging sections! Great for either a day hike or an overnighter.

Very convenient view of the waterfall. The trail has some interesting things to see and has numerous placards telling history of the site.

Great trails, very crowded on a weekend when the weather is nice. Hiked the High Falls Loop today starting at the main parking lot going to High Falls then Triple Falls & back on the High Falls Loop to the parking lot.

Nice waterfall hike with good views. Very well maintained trail inside Jones Gap State Park. Just over 5 miles from the parking lot, round trip. I'm a frequent hiker, but had a 9 and 7 year old with me. Took 2.5 hours. The Falls are beautiful. Highly recommend. If you go do it early. there is limited parking and when there's no room, you'll be waiting outside the park until someone leaves. the rangers control the flow of traffic

View at the top is worth it! Very muddy right now, and our watches showed 3 miles each way
