Hidden gem in a humdrum city life.

Even if the trail is easy to moderate and not much of a challenge, you get to stop and enjoy many wonderful views throughout the trail.

One of my favorites, to date! My only advice is to be sure to get the permit pass! Without the access it gives you, the trail wouldn’t be all that.

Getting a gorge pass and climbing the rock wall is amazing. Get past the stairs and definitely get a pass, it’s well worth it

Great weekend of hiking and camping. The trail was hard the weekend I went because of all the rain and slippery rocks and mud.

Absolutely beautiful trail

Well maintained trail and highly trafficked. Would be nice for a trail run if not so crowded.

Not really a hiking trail, but it would be great for families with small children. There are a lot of stairs to go down to the suspension bridge. Very touristy. There are much better trails nearby like Panther Creek.

moderate trail, pretty cool view from the bridge

A must if you in the area. Multiple waterfalls and campsites along the route. Well maintained

Byron-Reece to Freeman and then up the backside of Blood Mountain via the AT is the easier direction of travel. As other reviewers say, this is a challenge and took a solid 5 hours with stops for pics and lunch, but it’s a great hike in the fall/winter. Trekking poles will make life easier. Be sure to head east on the AT for about 100 yards at the intersection of Byron-Reece and Freeman to see the balancing boulder.

This is our new favorite waterfall trail. Several beautiful falls before the big one. Can’t believe how this little creek makes such huge noisy falls. Trail is easy, did some rock hopping to get up to see the falls come through the cliff. Didn’t climb to the top, that looked very steep and treacherous. Started around 10, lots of parking spaces. Finished around 1. Parking was scarce.

We loved this trail, but found it to be poorly marked where you go up the hill. We weren’t sure exactly the right way to go and doubled back the way we came.

This is one of my N Ga favorites. Great views at the top, rugged trails, and always a few other happy hikers! All the trails are well marked and easy to follow, but it’s not just a nature walk so be prepared.

Had a great day. Beautiful scenery. Will do again in the near future.

Definitely worth the hike! The bamboo forest was the best reward at the end!

Hiked this past weekend, super crowded day on the AT. Lots of people at all the overlooks. Looped back on the Freeman Trail which was far less populated.

I will be going back on a day the gorge is completely open. I loved this trail it was sooo easy because it was mostly paved. There are parts the you need a permit that is more boulder climbing. The stairs were not bad and has many places to rest! Will be going back again !

I loved the views on this trail. It was a bit rooty but not bad. I am new to hiking and did the trail with ease. To get the cave with waterfall tho is a boulder climb which may be where you turn around! The bathrooms tho were horrid I held it the entire time because of how bad they were.

Super fun getaway from the city! We’re still searching for the bamboo forest.

Great woodland trail in the middle of suburbia. Recommend that you check out the trail map posted at the kiosk.

My family and I had a great time on this beautiful hike. We love hiking near water and this hike follows the creek more than 90% of the time. My daughters are 6 and 7 and pretty experienced hikers already. This was an easy hike for them and our 2 dog (Vizsla & Yorkie).

Fantastic trail with varying terrain and scenery. I love taking landscape photographs and my only “complaint” would be every expansive vantage point was inhibited by fauna (I wasn’t even going that wide at 24mm).

From our campsite in Vogel we tracked this as 8 miles. After the first mile it is all uphill to Blood Mountain. If you are used to hiking elevation it is not bad, if not it will be a challenge. The view at the top is beautiful. You hike a combination of the Bear Hare, Coosa, Duncan Ridge and AT trails. Favor left on the way up and right on the way down but it is marked well.

Beautiful hike! Did this with my sons last weekend. It was cloud and overcast, so we stayed cool. The falls are a great payoff. I don't recommend climbing to the top of the cliff, it has gotten very dangerous since my last visit a few years ago.

One of my favorite hikes now. The entire hike you’re hiking along a beautiful creek and the incline is easy/moderate until you get to the cliff-which is a very steep and slightly treacherous climb rather than hike but the views to see the waterfall and top of cliff are more than worth it

You’d never know you were still in Atlanta! It’s breathtakingly beautiful and strenuous! Can really take in the nature around you!

Great hike! This is one of those hikes where the journey is a enjoyable as the destination...pretty woods, creek crossings, we took our dogs and they loved it as well.

Great hike! I would rate most of the trail easy and very pet/kid friendly. Many photo opportunities of the beautiful waterfalls.
if you want to climb to the top of the falls it is very steep and I would rate it as strenuous.
