Beautiful. Free. Accessible year round so different flora during different seasons.

Parking can be tricky but I’ve never had to turn back because there was no space. The trail is a good workout with a couple of good hills. Mostly quiet and plenty of room so you don’t feel crowded by others.

short hike with a moderate elevation. the view from the top is nice.

nice short hike but very crowded. you have to deal with people with no manners on trail.

I walked the Red Route and enjoyed it. Lots if up and downs giving you a better workout the flat trails. I used walking poles and recommend using them

A beautiful hike with numerous changes of scenery. A great way to start a fall day.

this was a great all day hike with family!

nice hike except the part I couldn't take due to it being closed.

Completed the entire 22 miles. I enjoyed the Chatham County side better than the Durham side just because I like the country view much better. It was fun to see the changes in the scenery throughout the trail. I went in December and didn't have a problem on the trail. I did run across a guy smoking while sitting in the middle of the trail and I walked around him. Saw 3 men smoking weed standing just off the trail in the woods in Durham. I kept walking and made it to the finish line! (I started at the New Hill trailhead and walked to downtown Durham. I was VERY upset that alltrails didn't work on my cell phone for the last 10 miles of my hike and I couldn't record it.

It's just the end of fall, and this 5 mile hike was beautiful. Trails were a bit muddy due to recent rain. My dog had a blast, and the river was perfect. Not too crowded and everyone who was there was very respectful.

Pretty fun and easier trail considering the views at the top. Like many others have said 3/4 of the trail is pretty light, the last 1/4 being the most work. Got up in about 45 min-1 hour just in time to catch sunset then about 30 down. Glad we decided to swing by while on our way to Charlotte.

this is a fun trail with some good uphill. there are always a lot of people as it is close to Winston Salem.

Great hike, easy trail, beautiful view, but crowded at the top. :)

Great views of the pinnacle and rock structure... and cool icicles on the north side.

First hike I’ve done by myself. The view was amazing! Coming back up the mountain made me realize I may need to exercise more. HAHA. I went off the trail a few times because I couldn’t find the blue markers but I eventually found them. Had fun and seen a beautiful view!

Beautiful hike over Thanksgiving. Think we combined the red and blue trails. Some hills. Good views of the lake.

Came out to take a few pics of the last of Fall.

Great double loop trail near RTP, NC. Plenty of lake views. Beautiful trail. Do the blue loop for a quick hike or do the entire figure 8 if you want a real workout. Highly recommended.

Easy trail, good for beginners but very crowded.

Do this along with Sycamore Trail - big figure 8.

Rated four stars for the views, it’s nice to walk along the river for so long. But it’s a very easy trail, definitely not moderate. Only a few climbs, everything else is flat, wide trails. I think I’ll do a little trail running next time.

What a fun and somewhat challenging hike! We took the longer route (to the left to start out) and it was a nice and steady incline until we got to the rocks then it really got interesting! I had my 8 and 10 year old with me and we all managed just fine. The top is totally worth the climb. You have a 360 degree view! The stairs on the way back down (going the opposite way), were covered in leaves but not slippery. It will be fun to do the hike in the reverse order next time. Well marked and maintained. (Red and white circles). Highly recommend!

I hiked with my dog the mountain trail to Grindstone to ledge ridge, then to the summit. The total mileage was a little over 10 miles. I agree with other reviewers, the trail rating is hard is because of the total mileage. I had a great hike during the week, encountering very few hikers. I’ll be back.

We have been hiking this trail in November for several years now. it always serves up lovely late fall beauty. Also the Uwharrie mountains are visible this time of year.

Part of the trail is still closed from storm damage but the overlook is still open and offers a scenic view of the river.

although parts of the trail were completely flooded, my wife and I had a wonderful hike with our dog yesterday. Appreciate the silence

The view at the top is truly worth all of those stairs.

I was honestly surprised at the level of difficulty of this hike when you get right to the top. That last hundred feet or so is quite something! But what a payoff...the view from the top is simply spectacular. How great that there is this kind of elevation just a short drive from downtown Charlotte! Highly recommend.

Beautiful and so quiet. Went to see fall leaves and it was just so peaceful. Love the way the trails meander and intertwine, and I found several great spots to just sit and relax.

The trail is a nice, light exercise with some great views of the Eno. If you live nearby it's certainly worth an outing!
