Fantastic Easy Beautiful
Great and pretty snowshoeing trail for beginners.
The snow is very compacted, so snowshoes are not really needed, but make it more fun! Lots of cars even on a weekday. Remember to get your sno-park permit.
it was beautiful and well maintained but there should be limited pets there, beautiful snow was covered with yellow pee and dog poo. Disappointed to see such a beautiful place but people were ruining it taking their pets and nkt taking care of hygiene. I saw kids were eating the same snow. I think to maintain tne beauty of this trail, there should be pet policy. Another issue was parking, people were crowded and no parking at all.
get there early or go late in the afternoon. no real need for snowshoes the trail is compacted did it just in my hiking boots. the hike is ok. if coming from a distance i would add more things to do in the area. we did it as a side trip after hiking kendall peak lakes trail. would be prettier after a fresh dusting of snow when the trees are covered in snow. lots of family and sledders. the
First time snowshoeing. We didn’t really need them, but we paid to rent them so def wanted to get our moneys worth! About half the people had them, half didn’t. We went Sunday of MLK weekend and it was PACKED! A lot of kids sledding. Once we got out towards the pond area, it was much quieter. Likely won’t do this again, but if we did we’d come on a week day and bring our dogs. Also, we didn’t get a car pass ahead of time. (I think a snopark pass is needed). As we were leaving the parking lot, cops were ticketing cars.
Get there early. Parking on the road is as expected (stated in other reviews). We didn’t need snowshoes and it seemed most folks were carrying them instead of wearing them. Great hike with kids. Beautiful views.
Great little snow park. Easy loop, things to explore! Must park on main road. Was packed!
Get there by 8 am at the latest on the weekends.
A bit crowded but still manageable to social distance. And relatively flat and easy for with a baby in a pack. Nonestly, the snowshoes aren't really needed as it's well packed the whole way as as there's not fresh snow.
the trail was really nice, i went on a Thursday and there were a decent amount of people there but enough space where we didn't have to be so close. my dog loved the snow! when going up the closed road, take the left in the fork about .5 miles in to get to the pond. the right takes you up gold creek pond trail
A wonderful winter walk with beautiful scenery, fresh air, and about 4 feet of snow. You don’t even need snow shoes because the snow on the trail is well packed, though many people wear them. The road to the beginning of the trailhead is inaccessible due to the amount of snow, but you can park on the side of the road about a mile’s walk away.
Nice and easy.. We parked right by the exit so we wouldn't have to fight the one lane road when we were ready to leave, but that added another mile or so to our hike. Snow was nice and slightly packed. Didn't have snowshoes or microspikes but it ended up being fine without them. We stopped to grab lunch next to the pond and there were maybe 4 other groups. overall not to crowded when we started. More folks showed up as we were heading out. There was a heavy fog so the view wasn't as spectacular as we were hoping for or heard about. This is off of exit 52, so keep an eye out on the weather and for snow/ice on the roads. Will come back as there are options to do different, more difficult trails.
Great trial better to go early it was super busy
Went out the twice Dec 2020. Loved it. Just wore snow boots and made it around with no issues. Dog loved it.
Such a good hike! Relatively easy drive with clear roads and lots of snow around the trail. The trail itself is pretty well packed down so my friend an I went in just rain boots and snow clothes and we were totally fine. Went on a Tuesday around noon and there was plenty of parking. Would definitely recommend! The views are wonderful. Also make sure to buy a parking pass! https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/mbs/passes-permits/recreation/?cid=fsbdev7_001662
