I love this trail system! So many options, and it’s so close to town. The wildflowers are starting to bloom and were more prevalent around Lake Marie. I agree with other reviewers that some parts of this trail got pretty technical, with one stretch being completely stone and rocks. Lots of variety between Napa Valley views and wooded forest, and not crowded at midday on a Thursday when I went. It is more trafficked on the weekends for sure.

Only my second hike but really nice trail especially once you make it to the end and get that view of the coastline.

Pretty trail! Here’s what I would do if I came back: 1) do it in the summer to sit in the various watering holes :) 2) not on a weekend as it was very crowded 3) start at the bottom at the lake and go upward first, then circle back down. Not a huge fan of out and backs, but it was a nice trail with lots of doggos and pretty falls!

Honestly easier than expected! Definitely go earlier during the day, we go there at 8am and it was perfect not a lot of people. On our way back there was a lot of people arriving and parking was full. Overall hike and views were worth it Hike was completed Feb21

Mountain biking

I mountain biked up the mount saint helena trail starting from the base of the fire road (a little farther down the hill from where these directions start at GPS 38°39'19.2"N 122°35'50.1"W). This trail is a fire road of moderate grade in pretty good condition with the exception of the last ~10 minutes which gets a little rocky on the road. The upper half of the trail is exposed to the elements, so plan accordingly on sunny or windy days. I passed a few groups hiking but no one else biking. The parking area had plenty of space on a Tuesday at noon. I'm pretty new to mountain biking, and my total time was about 3 hours.

Absolutely breathtaking views. Everything is so green and lush making the air cool and crisp. Waterfalls along the whole trail. The absolute best hike I’ve ever done so far.

The first 3/4 of the trail was pretty mild/moderate, although there are a lot of tree roots to be mindful of. The last quarter gets to moderately difficult, with stairs, stones, and a lot of elevation change. Glad I was there on a weekday, and a not too muddy day. Early March on a Tuesday, for reference, so nice temperate weather, some water in the falls, and less crowded.

Eldridge is nice ascent but a fire road. Some nice views nr the top. Great view of Lagunitas and non Tempe from Pinot Knob. Loved Tucker on descent. Shaded single trail brings you out back at Phoenix lake

Gorgeous trail and a good variety of views with plenty of insta-worthy view points ;). Ocean vistas, forests, waterfalls... this trail has it all. Moderate difficulty on the way up (gradual incline), easy to moderate on the way down.

Lovely walk. Trails in places are in significant disrepair. My wife while avoiding dilapidated stairs slipped on loose gravel took at server fall. After getting through the final 1/2 mile of treacherous and limitedly maintained terrain we made it to the parking lot. Urgent care diagnosis her with a broke fibula. Be careful out there!
