A great 1 or 2 day backpacking adventure! My wife and I did a 2 day trip 20 years ago and I just took 2 of my kids (wife was nice enough to stay back with the younger kids). Great wildflowers and not too difficult with a pack. Don't count on fish for dinner as they seem to be picky. This area seems surprisingly popular for fishing 4 miles in.

One of my favorites.

First part of trail .5 miles is all sun and you feel like your in the desert. Then it turns along the river and all shade. Nice to follow river up to waterfalls. Waterfall is nice and you can splash around before heading down.

Muy bueno para empezar senderismo

I did this hike yesterday around 1030am. The waterfall was pretty but I probably won’t do the hike again. For about 2/3 of the hike it’s pretty steep. There also aren’t many views or pretty things to look at along the way. Plus the creek along the trail had an unpleasant smell.

Oldie but goodie. Not too difficult for the most part. The last half mile or so may be a little challenging for kids.

Waterfall more of a trickle late summer. Great for a morning trail run.

This is my son's favorite trail. We have to do it every year. I have to admit with the heat I was not looking forward to it. Leaving later in the day was really pretty nice. The creek kept the heat down and the traffic was not too bad. Watched a great sunset on the way down.

Nice hike, very rocky with few flat spots. Waterfall barely a trickle in mid-August. Still nice views of the town.

This a beautiful hike but I am 60 and in pretty good condition and I would call this hike hard. There were lots of young people but not a lot of older adults (senior). As you get to the top you are climbing through the rocks at a fairly steep incline. That being said the payoff at the end, the falls, are amazing. It was worth the climb definitely.

Beautiful

Great hike, shady most of the way. Really fun waterfall at the end that makes it all worth it!

Made a trip up here before the snow really starts to fly. This is a great hike and the cabin is in good shape.

I've been hiking this trail for years and i love it.

My favorite so far! Very nice!

Backpacked this trail with a group of 12, ranging in age from 11 yrs old to 50, and was a nice variety of difficulty for all. Enjoyed the campground and cooler/cleaner air. Plenty of trees for setting up hammocks as half the group opted to do that. Plan on 2 hrs each way. Many wild flowers, but a couple weeks sooner would've been better. Overall, great hike.

I absolutely love this trail! It is a beautiful scenic hike with some challenging parts. The switchbacks are rough in the beginning since it is a steep incline. After that, make sure to go right when the trail splits, and then stick left close to the mountain all the way up to the waterfalls. There is a small waterfall before the large one. It is only about an extra ten minutes to the large waterfall once you hit the small waterfall. There are steep parts on the trail and toward the waterfall, I was almost rock climbing. The hike was challenging but very fun! There is always a place to stop and rest, too. I love hiking up along the side of the stream. Getting to the final waterfall was definitely worth it!

You go straight up, the entire time, you have been warned. Beautiful and well worth the hike! The cabin is awesome and would be fun to use one day. You do need to be in good shape to do this hike. I say that because the last part of the trail is dangerous to traverse especially if you are low on energy! We used all 4 liters of water and would take a bit more the next time we go. My Wife killed it on this trail, but it was still difficult. This hike will make you feel good.

Gets easier every time. Takes 25-35 minutes to get up. Wear decent shoes. Waterfall is more of a trickle currently. Sunsets are nice with the smoke in the air.

Did a herb walk at peak flower season.
Most excellent.

love this trail. tried it as a beginner and made it to the top. now I come a few times a year. my kids love splashing in the water up at the waterfall

so great for family day, beautifully floral time.
dogs love it...kids love it.

Our family has completed this hike three times now, most recently was September 2017. Our 9, 8 and 6 year-olds did well. Our 4-year-old had to be carried quite a bit. We took our time to enjoy the views etc. This hike is best enjoyed in fall, imho. The top does make me a little nervous with the children.

What a fantastic backpacking trail to take four young teenaged grandkids. We had a wonderful two days and a great hike. The weather is fantastic in July, I was even too warm for sleeping!

This trail is rated moderate but there are parts that are hard! The switchbacks at the beginning of the trail are tough because it is a steady incline and sandy. Once you get closer to the waterfall, there are some very steep parts that are borderline rock climbing/bouldering. With that being said, it was a fun and challenging trail.

Hiked this trail again on Wednesday for probably my 25th time. I’ve lost count. Had a great time. It’s dry, bit we saw a few people we knew also out enjoying this trail. Great for kids 10 and older because the caves at the end have drop offs that little ones might be a little scared of.

You get a great view of the China Wall portion of the Crimson Trail on the other side of Logan Canyon.

Worth it every time and would definitely recommend this trail if you are in the area and want a good hike that will take about 4 total hours from downtown to the top and back to downtown.

As others have mentioned, the trail is overgrown, especially near the top. Coming down, the steep incline and loose trail conditions make it hard to find stable footing.

Worth it to make it to the top! I’m an “older” hiker so I had to rest quite a bit but there was always a beautiful spot to sit.
