Easy parking on Easter Sunday. The trail was pretty short and flat, ending in a sandy part of the lagoon that led right to the ocean. I don’t really like walking on sand so that part was less fun for me. But we were there for my husband to capture birds with the fancy lens he rented for his birthday. And the trail delivered—all kinds of birds and he was thrilled. So, if you’re a bird watcher, it’s terrific. If you’re an average hiker sort, it’s a little less exciting but lovely.
Family friendly
Beautiful drive here. I was intending on walking Tomales Point Trailhead but ended up down the road to a trail that went to McClures Beach. It was a bit windy on the trail but not so much at the beach. Once on the sand I walked left, past the big rocks to another cove. There were colorful sea anemone and star fish on the rocks. So cool to see. I wonder if that part is accessible when the tide is high? On the way back I walked the entire beach, which isn’t long and ate my lunch at the very end. There weren’t many people there when I went later in the afternoon. It’s a relatively quiet place to spend a weekend day. Will be back to explore Tomales Point Trail.
Easy hike, lots of shade
This was fun and beautiful and a bit muddy in spots. Great for kids! Ours (11 and 5) really enjoyed it.
Pretty loop to Coast Camp! Trail is relatively flat and has some nice views. Extended the trip down to Limantour Beach as well for more excellent views. Relatively few people, even on a weekend. Great hike!
Beautiful trail! We arrived around 7:45, easily self-registered at the ranger station, and parked in the designated day-use parking (Azalea picnic area). The trail was beautiful and green! Lots of trees, mushrooms, ferns, and moss to see! We ended up connecting multiple trails to accumulate 8 miles, but this was by far the best part of the hike! We barely saw any people early in the morning, and by the time we got back to our car around noon the parking area was still less than 25% full. I would highly recommend this trail for anyone looking for an easy, peaceful hike!
Windy and very sandy for the eyes of a small dog. Avoid the sandy trail carry your small dog because some old grass can stick into the foot. Keep driving until the end of the road later, because uphill you will see an amazing view of the beach and surrounding areas...
Was a very enjoyable hike -- not a cakewalk, but not too hard either. Took plenty of time going off trail and on some junctions to take in some scenic views
Great, but know that bicycles are not allowed on Laguna Trail
beautiful!!
Fantastic
Stinson Dog Beach portion. Great for off leash adventures. Socialized dogs only off leash please!
Enchanting spot where the ocean meets the lagoon
Easy and quick trail with many spots to see. Super beautiful!
Nice walk to and along the beach—really nice that it’s one of the few trails in Point Reyes that allows dogs! It wasn’t very crowded and we (and our dog) really enjoyed ourselves.
Easy stroll with great views. Someone built a log fort on the beach. Pretty neat
Nice. Birthday hike. Otters were playful:- )
Well maintained trail with picturesque views, sea otters, some elk, wild flowers, dunes and a great beach
A good trail for families
