Three stars because this trail is way too packed. You'll need to get to the trailhead between 6-8am although people tend to park on the side of the road. This is a moderate trail in the true sense. The beginning is mostly an incline and there are a series of ups and downs. You can wander a bit off the trail on certain parts for some amazing view points of the mountains. The flow and intensity of the fall will depend on the time of year you do it. Enjoy folks!

Great for tourists

I actually hiked this trail in the middle of winter and only saw 1 other hiker and her dog. It was quite peaceful and serene. The waterfall was frozen over and a perfect place to set up my hammock and have a snack. Not a hard hike even with some snow cover on the trail. A great winter acclimization hike for newbies.

That smell....is it always there? Anyway about the hike. It was nice but nothing special. The trees offer some shade.

Nice walk! Pretty easy but lovely and a nice morning walk that is not far from Denver! Hiked 8/16/18.

Nice little hike. Decent views from the ridge up above the falls. Popular trail, so it pays to get there on the earlier side. If you are going to bag your dog poop, please remember to actually pick up the bag; the trail is littered with good intentions. ; )

Great hike overall! Parking was easy. There are a few points when the trail was unclear, but we were back on the right trail pretty quickly. Took our dog and it was good for him too! Some pretty exposed parts where it got very warm, bring your sunscreen! Awesome views of the changing leaves!

Fun hike! We did a hard 8 miles in the sun and shade. Dogs loved the stream!

Amazing hike for such low elevation and so close to home. Went with buddy and three dogs. Enough vertical gain to get the heart rate up without being too strenuous. Beautiful views to the southwest toward Indian Peaks/Continental Divide. Hope to go back another time and add Walker Ranch. Be sure to bring $8 cash if you're going at a time when a ranger might not be there to swipe your credit card.

Great hike with some elevation gain, well-maintained trail - aside from the Maxwell Bluffs Trail side of the lower loop, which has many fallen trees and is generally rocky, like a washed out gravel road. The waterfall is relatively puny, think 1' x 1'. However, it is very nice to hike alongside the creek most of the way. The aspens were starting to turn when I hiked and there are a variety of landscapes along the way— pines, aspens, rocky hillsides, with a few ascents leading to modest vistas. I did not see many other people Sunday morning, however I got a very early start, hitting the trail at 8 am. It was busier when I was hiking out and I would assume it is more heavily trafficked midday and in the afternoon.

My first trail ever!!

easy, with some nice views

Lots of people & I would rate as easy

I was a good trail, but busy.

Great trail. Moderately traveled with lots of horseback riding. Absolutely beautiful views and landscapes.

Some nice views along the way but would be good to find a better turnaround point

Great hike! Pretty views of the mountains and of Denver while also having the sound of the river and being able to go down to the river at Walker Ranch Trail when you get to the end of the Canyon Trail. The River is just down a small hill so it's worth the extra steps. Today it was partly cloudy which was nice b/c it didn't get too hot on the trail. The parking and trail became more crowded around 11am so getting there early is beneficial.

Parking was free and easy to find since they have dirt lots. Easy hike in a beautifully shaded forest surrounding but very heavily trafficked. Sad to see a lot of poop bags on the trail. The fun part was climbing the rocks near the falls so bring your grippy shoes! Great to bring a picnic to as well.

Go either direction, you won’t get lost. Watch for horses and their droppings. It has many sandy areas, appropriate shoes are helpful

Beautiful area. We went this past April and it snowed about 2-3” while there which made for some awesome pictures! Really like Garden of the Gods. Very peaceful place.

If you haven't been here dont miss out. great hike!

Great hike! Parking can be a little spotty but it’s. A cute hike!

We enjoyed our hike of the outer trails. The trails are dirt any different elevations. Between the map we picked up at visitors Center and the signage never got lost. we ended with the main trail that is a cement path. You can go off onto other dirt paths and miss the crowds. It appears most people want to stay on the cement path and walk at their leisure.

This was a pretty and fun ride but it is definitely rated wrong. I got here thinking this would be a green level ride and the exact trail shown is mostly blue with some black, we walked our bikes for a good portion of the up hill and some of the down hill because it was way too steep! Overall a good ride but I wouldn’t bike it again.

Very good front range trail with plenty of beautiful views of the Divide and front range. I paired it with the walker ranch trail for a total of 11.24mi and completed in 5:18. The Canyon trail to the river has lots of changes in ascent/descent with nice views so definitely not a trail you get bored on. I prefer trails with a goal in mind so the river/canyon at the end is perfect and a great place for lunch. Trail was very well maintained and I didnt experience a lot of traffic during my hike.

wouldn’t drive more than an hour for this but it definitely worth a see. It’s beautiful. Come at sunset or sunrise. We got there for 6 but 7 was better. Perfect for kids of any age... keep them off the formations though it’s really fragile. It’s honestly a walk not a hike but I managed to pushed out 3 miles using the trail. Spent 2 hours in the park. There are 3 parking lots. Park in the 2nd one

Awesome trail! I would recommend doing this backwards from what is shown on here, as the “back half” is much more fun and up and down. The “front half” on this map is very much the same, sloping downhill the entire time. The lookout point is also great. Great trail for running, biking, the lot! Should be rated more difficult than it is - the evergreen mountain trail is shorter and follows nearly the same route but is shorter, and it is rated as “hard.” This, however, is longer and somehow rated “easy.”

One of my favorite places on my road trip to Colorado this year! So gorgeous and easy trails to relax but enjoy the outdoors. Warning it is very crowded!!! Fun places to boulder or even rock climb!

Did this trail in June. Waterfalls weren’t super impressive. We took a few wrong turns d/t lack of signage but ended up on a higher trail with beautiful mountain views. Couldn’t tell you how to get back there but THAT hike would be worth it to do again.
