HikingGreat!

Fantastic hike!! Took us about 3 hours with a few stops to enjoy the views and beach. Definitely would recommend to start with the ridge and end on the beach side. I’m keeping this one in the books as a great Big Sur hike - much less crowded than Pfeiffer and the volunteer rangers were incredibly helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to come back when the trail camp opens back up mid-summer!

Hiking

Beautiful trail. It starts with out and back trail that ends being a loop. It has some inclination but majority is flat. We did it while visiting Big Sur and felt it can be easily done with back and forth driving from north of Bay.

Very beautiful at the top, great view of the ocean! VERY steep. I’d say a little longer than 2.6 miles, closer to 4. Definitely recommend, but be prepared for the incline.

HikingGreat!Rocky

Beautiful views, lots of uphill and rocky paths, but well worth the effort. Felt more difficult than the standard less than 3 mile hike but definitely still recommend it.

Beautiful foliage, including extensive poison oat. Moderate incline, temperate weather. Tank top only.

HikingGreat!No shade

Really lovely trail. We went up the ridge trail and back down Panorama. The Ridge trail is short and sweet. Has some steep points to get the heart rate up. Some really pretty views but the really amazing ones were on the way back on panorama trail. Those were some classic Big Sur views. Watch out for snakes, I saw two in the middle of the trail but they were easy to spot. Not a difficult hike but very windy! Also to note, if you don’t want to pay for parking there was plenty of parking on the side of the highway on a Sunday afternoon.

Start with the ridge first, nice hike. Pretty tough so be prepared. Bring a towel to cross the creek

Hiking

An excellent example of California's beautiful coast. I went on a Friday and there was plenty of parking, but I imagine it gets busier on the weekends. Parking was $10, but there's a nice bathroom for that price. There's a creek you have to cross just outside the parking lot. It only came mid way up my calves, so just take your shoes off and bring a towel. I highly recommend going clockwise and doing the bluffs first. The bluffs have a nice wide dirt trail and the climb going up isn't that bad. Going down to the beach has amazing views, but it's a narrow, rocky trail that was much easier going down than I imagine it would be going up. Trail was decently busy, I probably spent more time with my mask on than off. I took a timelapse of my hike: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5ylHJmgzD0

WalkingGreat!Over grown

So considering parking the hike is actually about 9 miles. When you start, you have to pass through a small river so bring a towel. I would highly recommend doing the ridge trail first to have a smoother time coming down and better views towards the end of the hike. The beach is absolutely incredible but very very windy. Also, keep an eye out for snakes. I saw three during the durations of the hike. Overall, there wasn't much traffic and it was an incredibly romantic and rewarding hike!

HikingGreat!

Bring Sandals , a towel and extra socks since you will be crossing a small river to get to the trail. It was pretty difficult but very do able since most of the trail is uphill. Bring plenty of water and the earlier you go the better since it does get crowded. 5/5 really recommend it!

Nice walk along the beach coast. There is no signal in the area so I recommend downloading GPS map for the trip back.

WalkingGreat!

Went on a Thursday afternoon. Beach is gorgeous. Not too big or too small. The rock formations are gorgeous and so is the purple sand. Even the drive to the beach was its own experience seeing all the trees and ferns.

Loved this trail! Bring a pair of sandals and a towel for the short little bit of water in the beginning. Make sure to wear sunscreen, and lots of water! Great trail overall 10 dollars cash for parking if you want to park close

Sustained climbing on good switch backs. Lots of flowers in late March. Moderate is accurate.

Hiking

Glad I read other reviews before coming because you will want to bring a towel for crossing the River! It was super refreshing to walk through on the way back. Really great hike with lots of diverse scenery and challenging altitude gains. It was completely exposed for 80% of the hike, which got pretty hot during mid day even with some ocean breezes. Wish I would have known that before starting.

This isn’t really a hike, but it is a gorgeous beach walk. You can’t go the whole way at high tide. I got there around 8 on a Sunday and had the beach to myself. By 9 it was very crowded.

Ok view at the top, partial shade on the way up. Go left at the loop sign, it’s a less steep grade that direction.

Incredible views of the ocean and coast line! It was quite windy and there is a fair amount of poison oak on the trail so keep an eye out.
