Wonderful hike! The views from the peak are nice and you get a 360 view of the surrounding area. The way down does have a lot of loose rocks but as long as you are careful you will be okay! The parking lot is small so If you see cars in the overflow on the right just park there and it's a short walk to the trailhead.

Great views Saw 4 deer. Bobcat. And some rabbits 2:30 to do the loop. Highly recommend

very nice hike, the hike keeps on giving with the bamboo forest and waterfall at the end

Steep but short scree trail to a wonderful view. With the blowhole on your left, look right for the Maui Heart.

Enjoyable hike. Quiet, moderate to easy hike. The views throughout are wonderful.

I enjoyed this with my 6 year old. Sun was pretty brutal mid day, for being December, and very little shade. Not too busy and beautiful views from the top. Moderate is a good rating for this trail.

Great little trail and not very crowded. Pretty views at the top. Trail is a little rocky and narrow on the ascent to the peak, but nothing overly daunting.

This is a nice little hidden spot within the monotony of desert terrain at South Mountain. The little tunnel is cool and there are a few petroglyphs as you get close. I usually take the Pima Canyon trailhead and pick up the National trail at the bench a few hundred feet from the water tank.

Nice trail but a bit rocky. Had to take it slow on the way down. Today was kind of hazy, so the views weren't as great as I had hoped. My app said it was over 5 miles.

A stunning hike. Parking is $25 (credit card only) but that buys you a three day pass to Haleakalā National Park, including the summit. If you have a National park pass or military ID, bring it for free admission. We arrived by around 12:00 and seemed to have beaten the crowd. The lot was packed by the time we were heading out, and the trail seemed to be getting pretty congested on the way down. After passing one dry waterfall half way in, we were worried that the higher falls would be dry also. They were not. Keep going — it’s worth it.

My 9 year old son really enjoyed sliding down the rocks around Fat Man’s Pass and squeezing through the tiny spaces. He called it, “Nature’s Playground”. Definitely a hike we would do again!

Nice quick jaunt up and back. Trail maps provided at the trailhead, but trail was easy enough to follow.

Really beautiful trail not too hard but a good work out.

Awesome hike. The first mile is semi-steep and rocky. You’ve gotta do the loop to the tunnel and Fat Man’s Pass!

If you like rock formations, this is the trail for you...TREMENDOUS views, nice synergy between going up/down/level. This trail is definitely going on my call back list.

Fantastic hike! The top of the peak offers a 360 degree view of the valley and it’s stunning.

Beautiful and well worth the time.

Great scenery- nice workout going up Mormon Trail

A great hike for the family visiting from Chicago.

We really enjoyed this hike. It can be challenging in some areas but overall not too bad. The way down is a little slick so wear shoes with a grip. It’s a busy trail. Took us 1.5 hrs up and back and we took our time. I did notice lots of bags of dog poop just left on the trail. If you bring your dog please pack out their waste.

One of the best hikes in Maui! Go past the sign and go all the way to the fall! Completely worth it!

We went this trail when it was raining a lot but it was still very beautiful trail! There are few waterfalls along the way, you go through bamboo forest and there is so big and beuatiful tree on the way! The waterfall in the end is huge and amazing. Definitely worth it!

Beautiful views, not too challenging at all

easy hike, only thing to rate it as moderately is its length.

Thank you to many who posted about this hike. I had picked a different hike, woke at 2:00 am. Read your reviews. We woke in the morning and I told my wife ,”Change of plans!! This was by far the best hike we have done ... the bamboo, ponds waterfalls EVERYTHING!! ALL TRAILS best app I have. We live in Vancouver BC use it there all the time. Been to Australia, used it there. Been to Indonesia, Bali and yup!! Used it there In New Zealand, used it to hike Rangitoto Island. We took trails no one else knew about (on that day)
Thank you all keep posting. People read and make decision based on your feed back !!!

great unique lava water ledge hike to an amazing blowhole and cool heart shaped lookthrough

I think it’s a very nice and short one. Easy to take good pictures. No need to bring water or snacks just your phone is required. I even saw people wearing sandals on the trail. Just come and spend 1 hour and it’s worth it!

Busier than expected. Parking was a little tough, too. Only made it halfway--taking to many notes for a geology assignment.
