Great workout! The first quarter is the hardest to me.

Done this twice now while visiting Vancouver, love it!!! Second time, half way up I was wondering why I was doing it again, but worth it once you get to the top.

Very nice view from the top, but it took me twice as long as this distance usually would because the ground was so slippery with dried leaves and the inclines were very steep. I overheard other hikers mentioning that they had fallen. Some parts are muddy, so be prepared. I took the white trail up and the blue down, and it was not marked well enough, I thought.

Enjoyed this trail yesterday, 11/11/18. Completed lower to upper falls. Easy hike. Weather was chilly but no freezes or snow yet. Falls were still abundant.

The trail itself is awesome, especially the first 1.5 miles. But the crowds are out of control.

Pretty hard and totally uphill all the way. The views up are beautiful, worth your efforts. Took us 75 mins. Gondola was closed for seasonal maintenance so had to go down by the BCMC trail which was very tiring and painful as the trail was torn up due to heavy rain.

Great hike with great views! Highly recommend it but be prepared for steep rocky portions. I’d say moderate is correct but would not recommend for beginners or people who do not regularly do hikes/hill runs. Took us almost 5 hours at a comfortable pace without breaks and we accidentally kept going after the end of the trail.

Awesome hike. Great way to push yourself and have an amazing end result to a spectacular view

Most difficult part of the trail is staying on trail due to very poor signage and/or markings. The trail has one lackluster lake and dumps you out near some ski runs. Good if you’re in the area and have half a day to kill, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for this one.

If you’re heavy or out of shape this will be a difficult hike for you. The first 1.25 mile is a 75 degree rock scramble where you are literally on your fours the entire time. It’s exhilarating if you’re a regular hiker. I hiked all the way up to the fire tower on the white trail & it is totally worth it.

Do not come back on the yellow trail - that adds another 6 mile to your hike most of it downhill.

trail running

Took me 3 hours 48 min. I ran ~4 miles and hiked the rest. Good views at beginning and end. Middle chunk gets a little bland.

Great workout. Did the trail to the tower and back on the yellow trail. 10 miles, but so worth it. Was a gorgeous day. From the top of breakneck to the fire tower I did not come across any other people, but I did start at 7:40. The yellow trail coming back was quite wet from all the rain we had, but very pretty with the fall colors and the running streams. This was my first time doing the yellow trail on this side of the mountain and I had to back track a few times to find the yellow markers and use my GPS. So if this is your first time, be on the lookout for yellow markers. Well worth it, but it's quite a workout.

Just did this hike. It was awesome definitely the right amount of challenge with great views along the way. The way up is the perfect amount of incline, but is a little congested with people going to see the fire tower and come back down. Once you go into yellow/white/blue territory you barely see other hikers.
In doing that loop we got lost a few times (we are seasoned hikers). As mentioned in other comments, where the blue and the yellow meet it is very confusing and if you follow the blue you will be taking yourself off of the trail entirely. You need to follow the stream down on unmarked trail until you intersect with white (at a very obviously paved intersection) which will then take you to yellow again to get down.

Over rated in my opinion. It's a good hike, but it's very busy most of the time and I hike for quiet, lot to be in rush hour. 50% people who are trying to beat their times are more than happy to give those slower a little nudge to get you out of their way.

Worth doing again and again and again.

This hike is well worth steep terrain. It was cold and rainy and it was still beautiful hiking next to the cascades and falls the entire way up.

Breathtaking hike. Except that it’s no joke. It’s as hard as it gets with great rewarding views! You might think you are done but it is a long stretch of rock scrambling. I did the white trail and then red trail which then led to a waterfall immediately after which there was the yellow trail.

The road to the trailhead at DL Bliss is closed for the winter but you can park and walk a mile down the road to the Rubicon trailhead. I hiked from DL Bliss past Vikingsholm almost to Eagle Point Campground and back. It was a long hike but not difficult. The views are out of this world! So beautiful, it's hard to describe. Fall leaf colors are bright yellow, and the lake in the morning has a surreal green/blue tinge. Don't miss this one during your next visit to Tahoe!

Awesome views of waterfalls!

Quick Trail, I always go up to see the view and back down. There are other trails within that I ended up roaming around in with my brother and we ended up on the road

Love LOVE this trail. Such a great workout. Can be very difficult if your are not used to resistance or using your knees, pulling yourself up. The views up here are breath taking. I enjoy it mostly in the fall. The best part is visiting silver spoon for an amazing meal in cold springs

Had an awesome time. The white trail is a rock climbing at first, very challenging but for me it felt easy and fun. My first hike and out of shape but enjoyed it and I lead the way al the time :), it can be done!! Trail is well marked and easy to follow, even after a rainy day the hike was great and fun!! Views were breathtaking and will do it again and again! Fall views are amazing!!! Loved it!!

A solid hour of stair climbing and a breathtaking view at the top! Another reason I want to move to Vancouver so this can be a part of my daily morning routine.

This trail freakin rocks! Awesome open areas and great trails! Highly recommend this trail!

easy, accessible, rewarding hike around emerald bay; not terribly crowded on a fall weekday with nice fall foliage around the bay
parking/trailhead: dl bliss entrance closed at entrance, could park and walk down to trail but we parked at the other end of emerald bay on the road and didn't pay; $10 at vikingsholm
trail: wilderness highway, well maintained, mostly packed dirt
scenery: beautiful views of the bay and surrounding area, fall colors

Breakneck more than deserves its positive reputation. The trail is extremely well marked and its accessibility via public transportation is amazing. It can be more or less challenging depending on the routes you pick, and while some hiking experience would be helpful, I think most moderately fit people could do it with ease. Definitely wear shoes with a good tread too, especially if you go in the fall when the leaves are down. Overall an awesome hike!

Still one of my favorite day hikes in the area.

Great hike! Very wet and slippery though. The view at the top is fantastic. Be sure to bring your wind jacket, it’s very windy and cold up there.

Some really great views! Hell of a climb up and down though. I've done it twice so far. 100% wanna go again.
