Nice trail; would be even better in the summer.

Trail was very snowy and due to the past few days of wind the snow wasn't very packed. Super beautiful and amazing hike and there were plenty of people on the trail, but I would not recommend it without snow shoes

Hiked 3/13 with boots plus 30 lbs of camera gear, 20oz of water, a camera monopod/tripod/walking stick, and a MacBook Pro 15 (Which I regret carrying). Trail is mostly snow and very little ice unless you include the frozen lake. Great for first timers during all seasons. Definitely quite the winter wonderland and there's a fair amount of friendly people throughout the trail.

Hiked 3/14. Great hike for people who are familiar with the outdoors. We hiked with just hiking boots but microspikes would have definitely been handy as the snow was a bit slick/slippery. Beautiful weather made it an incredibly beautiful hike. When we arrived at Emerald Lake it was extremely windy but we were able to sit and take in the majesty of the lake for a few minutes before we headed back.

Great trail for beginners like myself! Can’t wait to go in the summer

Super dog friendly and beautiful trail. Incline is steady in parts and more severe in others but overall it’s not that difficult. Rewards are the view at brothers lookout.

Started to the left, with an immediate uphill and amazing ocean views almost right away. Would definitely consider this a moderate hike, not easy.

Amazing hike!

Great hiking. No ice. Not overly crowded early.

Did the hike on Sunday, 3/4, and the snow was packed down enough to hike in my hiking boots. I had Yaktrax on, which helped a lot after the sun got warmer and slushed up the snow on some of the steeper parts. The trail does take on a few different paths at points, but they all converge together eventually. Get there early, too! I got there at about 9:30, and the giant lot was already half full, and by the time I got down around 11:30, it was completely full.

Snow is packed enough to do in boots!

Didn’t actually make it up! The east access road is currently closed off to traffic. Didn’t know how to update that without a review! I’m sure it’s a splendid running trail though!

Beautiful start to finish

Beautiful hike and great length. Only thing that was tough is it was very snowy and we forgot to bring spikes/ snow shoes.

Nice and easy trail. The overlook was pretty too. Dog friendly. A bit icy and snowy at parts, but micro spikes aren't necessary.

Snowshoed this trail last night at full moon light. Nice short trail and spectacular views. The peaks were lit up with the reflection off the snow. Can't wait to get back here and see it in the daylight!

Scoped this trail out to potentially take family here this weekend, and will definitely be returning. The weather was perfect and the trails were clear for the most part, with little ice and manageable snow.

Great hike! No dogs allowed :(

Nice short hike and the view was great! Was able to hike with just boots but trail was packed from snow shoers.

Scenery is worth every step you take in the area

Spikes were enough for this hike.

Beautiful hike. Start extra early to avoid the crowds!

Hiked it today with 2 colleagues who were visiting from out of town. We parked in the lot for $10 and while we passed a few people, it wasn’t crowded. We started up to the left, which was somewhat steep, but loved the views on the way up and took a couple breaks to enjoy. Watching the sunset from the top was amazing and it was a quick, easy hike back down as we completed the loop.

This hike shouldn’t be labeled easy. It’s a great workout but not for beginners.

High winds- lots of fresh snow!!

Great hike, but for a scandinavian this was not a category easy :))) wauw it goes up up up.

Excellent hike! Good length (took about 2 hours to complete) and moderate intensity. Go up the left side of the loop first if you want a steeper incline. The views along the way and at the top are amazing. This would be a great hike to take active out-of-town visitors. You get a great view of the ocean, Santa Monica, and the mountains. $10 to park in the park, or you can try to find street parking.

Great winter lake. Stay left at the “dream lake” sign. Emerald lake is about 3/4 mile from dream lake. We wore snowshoes but spikes would’ve sufficed. Enjoy!

I just did this trail today (1/31/18). The trail was clearly marked and packed down. Micro spikes are a must, and snow shoes optional once you get closer to Dream Lake and Emerald Lake (I didn't use them). I heard they're supposed to get some snow this next week so I'm not sure how it will impact the paths. Follow the packed snow and openings in the trees and you'll be fine!

Perfect winter hike. Stunning views! Did not have snow shoes or spikes and was able to complete without much difficulty.
