Very nice, easy trail. we would probably go on bikes next time. Had the dogs there and they loved it

Nice hike but may be challenging for younger children because of length and some steep terrain. Beautiful scenery and a well marked trail. I would like to hike this again in the spring when wildflowers are in bloom.

Beautiful hike with great views of the lake. Mild changes in elevation. Starting on the more northern route, the trail is much more shaded, and as the trail turns south it opens up with beautiful views. The trail follows the road back up to the parking area marked on the map. Great afternoon hike.

Very scenic, easy short trail, nice view of Lassen. We arrived at Manzanita campground around 3 and did not have much time to go far so we decided to stroll around the lake. I am glad we did. The lake was very beautiful. I could take some nice photos of Lassen front the lake.

Burney Falls is amazing, the trails around it decent. There is a parking lot on Lake Road which is a five minute walk up a paved slope, so the falls are easily accessible, though there are a few stairs. We parked at the parking lot off of Clark Creek Road which gave us a ten minute hike through some of the surrounding forest before reaching the lake road parking lot and down to the base of the falls. The hiking around the surrounding area is decent- but you’re really here for the falls. Since it is on the more accessible end of Oregon waterfalls, expect to see a lot of people.

Great hike! Like every trail in LVNP this one was beautiful. Easy hike around the lake. The trail is easy to follow and lots of places to sit and have a snack while enjoying the views! One part does get close to the road coming into the park but don’t let that stop you.
Hiked Thursday 9/6/18

Must see trail for NorCal.

Took my two 7 year olds around the lake while my wife and other kids hung out at the picnic area. Lots of shade, an easy walk for the boys. Ducks, geese, deer, squirrels, as well as many other birds along the way. Great for a leisurely stroll! We went July 2018.

This is a enjoyable walk around the lake. Lots of shade and the kids can toss stones in the lake and enjoy the birds and ground squirrels. Even more fun is to bring a small floaty and laze around on the lake. They rent them there too. Gets cold after October.

Loved this hike. Very flat and great views of this pristine lake

Along for the ride this easy ride was an enjoyable one to the look out tower where The ranger was very welcoming and informative. If you want a nice ride this is one to do with family.

Great hike. There are some hills so would not recommend for true beginner, but relatively easy overall and the scenery is continuously breathtaking. Cool breezes are a plus, too.

This is an easy trail and one I enjoy. Especially when starting from the hilltop trailhead. It adds incline.

coming from Ohio, it was a game changer

My wife and I hiked up trail #1 and then #8 and #9. Overall we hiked about 6.5 miles. Very beautiful and relaxing hike, some of the trail was what I would consider a moderate slope, but nothing too hard. I pushed our 2 year old daughter in a jogging stroller the entire time and there was some uphill portions that were a little strenuous but overall great hike. Saw a lot of joggers, bikers, and hikers. Worth the trip to Arcata to hike!

This was a nice easy hike, although we did encounter some mosquitoes in the beginning, so be sure to have some repellent as they seem to be friendly creatures! Some nice views of the lake, and you could see the smoke in the air from the Carr Fire.

I enjoyed the hike this trail provided. Being close to the lake make sure you spray yourself with insect repellent

Enjoyed the trail would recommend it to other off road enthusiasts.

My wife and I enjoyed this trail. The trail was being renovated about 3 miles in so our hike turned into a 6.5 mile hike. I love walking among the California Redwoods. I reserve the 5 star rating for something that blows me away but I highly recommend this trail to anyone in the area of Arcadia California.

We started our off roading adventures with this trail. At the beginning we found it quite exciting and adventurous, slow going for our first adventure. The trail calmed down but still had some challenges the further we went. At about the 17 mile mark we were stopped by a gate and had to take the McCandless Gulch Road back to Hwy 299. We really had a blast as now we have added off road driving to our biking and hiking.

Beautiful trail you wouldn’t know was there unless you were searching out a place for a peaceful hike.

Great trail!

Such and amazing view and close to my campground. The reflection off the lake of lassen peak was so beautiful! Manzanita campground was crowded but also has some awesome amenities and located in such a great spot! I loved this little loop you don’t even have to do the whole thing you could just walk around find the perfect view and chill! Also stayed around end of July 2017

Enjoyed the trail it is always calming to be around the waters edge.

Peaceful walk even if there was smoke in the air from a fire on the backside of Lassen. Maybe next time we might try kayaking.

Excellent hike easy some of the path is paved. The park was beyond very busy and they had a line of cars out on 89 just to get in. We took Clark Creek road from 89 and found a dirt parking lot that was less than full and provided easy access to the trail. You can walk in about 1000 feet and the trail splits go either direction to access the park.
