Beautiful hike, not easy but worth the effort. Adding Emerald lake to this hike is recommended, only 1.6 miles extra. Only very crowded at the end at the climb on the falls.

We have done this hike a couple is times and love it! (most recently 7/24, arriving at 7:50am) It is definitely popular, so get there either very early or later in the afternoon. When we arrived, the main parking lot was full and we parked a little way off from the trail head... and that was before 8am on a Tuesday. The hike is on the easier side of moderate with quite a bit of gentle grade, some steps, lots of level places, and some steeper incline towards the end. Definitely take the side path to Copeland Falls and climb around to get close to Ouzel falls (If you get to the bridge at Ouzel falls you have missed the turn off point to get close). Most of the hike is along water and shady. If you are a serious hiker, you will consider this pretty easy; if you are not a Colorado native (still getting used to the elevation) or don't do a lot of hiking, this will be a good hike with a little challenge. The are several falls along the way and the path is dynamic, crossing streams, some views, some wildflowers. Every step of the way is really quite beautiful.

Perfect weather for this hike!! I enjoyed so much by the creek, it is always nice to get a nice breeze by the water. This ended up 8.4 mile hike, enjoyed it so much! 80% is shade, so great for hot summer hike as well. Totally different scenery from hikes around Baseline. Recommended! However this is not "Hard". Should be listed as "Moderate".

Great and challenging hike. Good elevation gain. Was able to do in about 3 hours. Quite a few trail runners, decent amount of wildlife too. Awesome views! You do have to pay for parking on the weekends, fyi.

Some hard steps in the beginning then trail. Bikers are hard core as they pass!

busy trail, get there early or you have to walk to the trailhead. well maintained, easy hike to Copeland falls, then a little harder to the next falls.

Great trail!

Did this trail in June. Waterfalls weren’t super impressive. We took a few wrong turns d/t lack of signage but ended up on a higher trail with beautiful mountain views. Couldn’t tell you how to get back there but THAT hike would be worth it to do again.

really nice hike with lots of water falls.

Amazing experience. Got there around 7:45 and got the last parking space. Nevertheless, never felt crowded. Such a nice trail. Water along the way. Gentle slope. When we got to the falls, agree with other reviews you need to go up the left side. We tried to go further after lunch, but it was too much for my 11 and 13 yo.

Hiked this today with my 7yo (experienced hiker) and had no problem at all. Beautiful views of Copeland at the bottom and there’s a few nice spots to take a break at the falls. Keep left there, as everyone says, have fun be safe!

As others have mentioned it is about 8-9 mile loop, great scenery, going counter clockwise would of been easier, didn't know my clockwise to counter and went the hard way, the wildlife is great saw many deers, snake, chipmunk, and rabbits. Fun but challenging hike, especially the last mile, which felt like 3. :)

The hike is okay. The 'castle' ruins are really neat!

Great hike. A little crowded on weekends but worth it.

This hike offered a quick escape from Denver heat today, but not much escape from crowds. We enjoyed the trail, but it was very crowded and of course, there was a lot of dog poop along the trail and two dogs off leash, despite someone asking the owner to leash them. I think this hike would be much better during the week; it was just too busy on a weekend.

I made it halfway up Timberline Falls, but after seeing 2 gals above me slip and get hurt climbing the wet boulders I decided to stop and enjoy hiking another day. Kudos to those brave climbers. Still a great challenging hike with amazing views! I will enjoy the photos of those that made it to Sky Pond

Family of 4 with an 11 and 13 year old. One of the best hikes we have ever done. Got there around 8 and got the last marking spot; so arrive early. Gorgeous trail with a gentle grade. Agree with others who recommend going up the left side of the falls. We tried to extend to Ouzel Lake, but the trail was hot and steep. Just too much.

Great scenic trail. Seems crowded on weekends.

Nice trail. Took me about three hours. Great views all the way throughout.

The hike was really nice. The waterfall was okay though.

Great hike! Beautiful view at the top.

This trail gets a bad wrap here! it was actually beautiful and the signage was just fine. I counted no fewer than 5 signs directing me along the trail. and the map IS accurate. just follow it while you are walking (pull out your phone when you get to a fork in the path) and if you take a wrong turn you can easily see it on the map on AllTrails.

Great trail if you love water! The stream and various falls are all along the trail up to Ouzel Falls. At Ouzel, venture to the left to get up close to the falls ... find a good rock and enjoy the beauty. Instead of doing this as an out and back, we continued on past the falls, picked up the Wild Basin Trail and then at the Thunder Lake Trail junction turned right. This will take you past several campsites and connect back into the main trail. We really enjoyed this added section. (made the total distance a little over 6 miles) We arrived at 7:45 am and there were still 10+ parking spots left. Recommend getting there early to get ahead of the crowds.

3.8 miles 1950 ft elevation. Awesome hike for how short it is and close to Denver, we did it in the evening for sunset and there was a show going on at Red Rocks below. Some sections are pretty steep and sandy, trekking poles recommended, definitely wear decent shoes. Final scramble to the top is lots of fun.

nice 2 hour hike, trails are not marked very well in certain areas.
