it's not a loop as shown...it is about 3plus miles out to End of trail sign and 3 plus back. nice trail, small inclines, runs all along the lake. beautiful tree cover.

Ran it Thursday, but Friday they taped it off closed for cleanup finally from TS Michael. I ran it anyway because I prefer to be challenged. Great scenic out and back

love it so much. peaceful easy beautiful and shaded for hot weather days

awesome
lake walk in the woods shaded easy peaceful love it. safe. great trail for family outing.

Park is currently closed and the trail is not accessible!

I have enjoyed these hiking trails a lot so far. I think the map is off as regards the number of trails and the full distance of you connected, and walked through several of the trails. lately the has been excess debre, but nothing terrible. only issue with the app is would like the map more up to date. as the are other trails available, not just the high road and primaries.

Eh I’m new to Charlotte but this trail is tough on a hardtail. It is probably a much better ride on fs also is quite overgrown in some sections.

I love this trail. It's great for hiking with kids and dogs and a great running trail.

This was a pleasant surprise.
I was apprehensive about the trail upon first pullling into a NEIGHBORHOOD! I stuck through it, parked in a community parking lot by the pool, and headed on my way.
I am so glad that I didn't listen to my inner voice to turn away. This was a great physical hike as well as scenic.
You start with a back and forth around a ravine as the elevation steeply rises.
You quicky find yourself at a suspension bridge to cross. It apparently crosses the NC / SC line as indicated by the signs on the bridge.
You weave back and forth along the creek using a pretty small trail. I normally like a narrow trail but had to keep giving the right of way to bikers. That would be my only complaint.
All in all though a hidden gem in Waxhaw tucked inside a neighborhood.

I did not see any pavement

May be great for runners and walkers, but pavement is not great for hiking. Nice wooded area. Will do again when looking for something close to home.

love this trail. beautiful and secluded. have returned several times.

This logged 5.42 for us on Map My Run, and once you get to the pavement take a left then right and walk thru the parking lot to get to Persimmon trail, we didn’t find it that clear once we left the woods.
We hiked on a Saturday mid afternoon and maybe passed 4 people and 1 bike, very nice trail wide enough for most of it to go side by side, love that you can see the water, a few spots to get to the water.
Will go again.

Great for an easy hike! Such a close and beautiful location to get a couple miles in on well maintained trailers. Not a lot of elevation change but you can go a good distance at a quick pace.

It was awesome

If you’re looking for solace this is not the trail for you. There is a lot of noise from nearby roads, boats on the lake, and LOTS of airplanes. The flight patterns go directly over a large portion of this trail. It is muddy as other reviewers have mentioned. Very tropical feeling. The plus side to this trail is the length. If you’re looking for a long walk that isn’t paved then it’s great for that. I would not consider this a scenic trail.

Short trail but nice get away right outside of Charlotte. Southern American Revolutionary War history. Beautiful forest with a Southern feel. Two nice picnic areas. No overlook view, mostly forest.

Great endurance trail for running in the shade on a scorching hot day. Also a tremendous leg workout with all of the drop offs downhill when your legs are fatigued.

Decent enough; though signage could be a little better. I entrusted my 14 year old to navigate and we got a little lost.

If you just want an easy hike this trail is for you ( and mountain biking). the first half of the trail does get pretty muddy after a heavy rain.

Moderate foot traffic during the week, not sure how it is on the weekend yet.

Easy hike for a picnic or just a stroll and the trails are kept up nicely. Can be a bit rooty at times but otherwise is hazard free.

Not the greatest/most scenic trail in the area but never that busy and always plenty of parking. A lot of room to run and great when you don’t want to have to drive far or battle Uptown traffic.

Nice physical trail

Pretty low key, however it was a nice getaway with the dogs. one was a puppy, went out to get him use to walking on a leash. we enjoyed the easy hike.

Nice trails. Mid week few people on trails. Was very relaxing and will definitely stop by again

Easy. 6 mile round trip. Wooded walk along Lake Wylie. Muddy in some spots. Combine this trail with the trails at Daniel Stowe Botanical to get the most mileage. Maybe, I'll do it again in the Fall. 2 stars.

Dusted off the old Giant and took her for a spin. First time in a looong time mountain biking for me and thought there was plenty of good trail for all skill levels. Will probably go back again soon

Moderate hike with views of Lake Wylie

Very nicely kept trail with good views and a good 5 mile relatively flat hike.

Always pretty. Good if you're not feeling up to a strenuous hike.
