Great trail with great views! Have to watch for the markings to get to the second waterfall, but overall an easy trail!

Went their dec 5 was a good hammock day to be in the trees with a beautiful view.

The attached map does not show you the bushwacking route to get to the different waterfalls. The waterfalls are nice. im sure there is any easier way to get to all the landmark sites. I would allow yourself plenty of time to find your way to all the waterfalls and to finish the loop. It's a rugged good time if you dont know your way around.

Hiked this trail yesterday. Goal was to hike to HIH, but we ended up hiking to the river instead. Missed the last “To Falls” sign on a tree (which is probably about 0.5 miles away from HIH) and instead saw the “To River” sign. So I’ll say keep your eyes open for the “To Falls” sign on a tree to your left once you pass the “0.7 miles to falls” post. We saw the sign on our way back up but wanted to get back as we had another trail to hike before dark. We were the only ones on the trail the entire time we were there. It was nice, quiet and peaceful. The hike back up gives your thighs a good burn (also didn’t help that I had leg day the day before). In total it took us about 3 hours RT. We stopped to take pictures a few times and also spent about 10 minutes at the river.

had a freaking big cat try to eat me!!
I've hiked this and floated to here many times. but I've never hiked at night intell my last hike.
be careful out there!!!

The West summit isn't as hard as the East Summit, but it is still just as much fun.

Go as early as you can! The falls are so peaceful alone and the sunlight at around 10:30a was beautiful on the waterfall. We saw several groups backpacking in on our way back up but had the falls to ourselves and had lunch in the fall basin. The trail is absolutely difficult but totally worth it. The fall/winter is probably the time to go if you want a drier hike. Overall very positive experience. But the hike up kicked our butts! We’ll probably try again in the spring to experience the green and water crossing.

Short hike to a beautiful overlook!

Been here several times. Love it every time

this trail name is actually Beacham trail. if you decide to walk it backwards like we decided to, you'll need to know that. We went the Leatherwood route and it took us way far away from where we wanted to be. Many trails in that area, and I think we walked them all! Beautiful day for it thankfully!

This one is tough. Be prepared to walk (or climb) lots of boulders. The view at the top is beautiful!

Richland Creek is our fave!

Nice easy trail. Road up to the trail turns to gravel. Coming from Mulberry the gravel road was shorter and you could take any vehicle up it. Coming from Mountainburg the gravel road is significantly longer and a little less even but I had no issues with my Edge AWD. If you are afraid of heights this trail might not be for you as you walk along the edge with some significant drops. Great views! This will be on my list to do next fall when the colors pop.

We enjoyed the hike and scenery.

Beautiful day for a hike. This is a strenuous hike if you are not in good condition. You begin the hike by descending down to the falls/river. But that means the trek back is uphill. The trail was pretty empty. We saw one guy on the way down and did pass a group coming down as we went up. The waterfall was a trickle but still worth the effort to hike it. Will be back in the spring when things green up and hopefully catch the waterfall flowing more.

Great weather for a hike! We missed most of the fall color, but was still very lovely. The damn bridge is beautiful.

I’ve been around a lot of the Buffalo area and this has got to be one of my favorite hikes. Not only is the waterfall spectacular but the hike is excellent and the whole area looks like a place fairies might dwell. If the camp area across from the trail is full there is a turn out off the highway to the West that’ll require a ten minute walk to the trailhead. A lot of elevation gain to the bluffs, go left to the falls. Though the hike to the right is beautiful too if you have time. Loved climbing around on the boulders. If you have a hiking partner give them some space, slips and slides will happen even in the best hiking boots and trail runners. Came in the autumn and the green valley along the creek with the autumn colors surrounding it was just spectacular. Get ready to use your hands to climb out from the grotto.

Find the trail at the back of the grounds, it’s easy to get to the lower falls. If you’re up to it, there are many other falls upstream that will require some sure footing and boulder hopping. Be careful crossing on fallen trees as they are often waterlogged and rotting. Really fun area to explore. Haw Creek is an excellent camping area (fee for camping goes up to 10$ spring 2019) and does require a water crossing in your vehicle. Don’t let it scare you, I crossed in my Toyota Yaris when the water was touching the bottom of the poles on either side of the road meant to measure flooding. Probably wouldn’t have tried it if it were much more than that, could definitely feel the car struggling against the current on the far side. Be mindful and keep an eye on the weather.

Easy hike even if very poorly marked (marking the trail would at least give novice hikers an opportunity to learn). Lots of good fall foliage and trickles of water over the bluffs. A few small trails beginning at the very back of the campground road; those were better time investment (I’m fickle; I like the payoff). Day was cool and damp with thick fog impeding any view. But felt amazing at the top!

This hike was a beast for me! Partially due to the fact that my brother lied and said it was rated moderate to get me to join in, lol. It’s a workout both ways but the hollow is breathtaking. When we went the waterfall was pretty light but still beautiful. This was my entryway to the world of hiking and I will always remember it fondly ❤️

Beautiful and hard...and worth it, for sure!!! Wear solid shoes, have your first-aid kit, and enjoy the views. Breathtaking!

Beautiful spot.
It is a bit tricky to find. But someone has spray painted a mark on the road and hung a ribbon in the tree where the trail starts. There are several trace trails in the area. My advice is this: go uphill until you get to the bluffs then turn left and keep going. Stay up fairly high near the bluff line. Take your time. The rocks are super slick. Eventually the creek and bluff will meet and there’s your waterfall.

Beautiful trail for fall colors!

Love this Trail. Fall foliage was great.

Beautiful easy 2 mile loop. Views were stunning this fall!

One my favorite trails to do in the fall.

Very nice trail. Easy to access and a nice short challenging hike.

This is an amazing trail. Rated as moderate but the last 1.5 miles from Sandstone Castle where we made camp in the caves, to the falls I would rate as hard. The ascent to the falls is steep and very rocky so watch your footing and be prepared to climb back out. Great trail though and we had no issues staying on it.

Very pretty easy fall hike. Varied views.
