Too hard and far to drive to there.

We did this hike on Mothers Day. We took the old trail up & new trail down..wear proper shoes for the down hill. Amazing accomplishment....hardest
one for me so far

We didn’t have ideal weather which impacts my rating a bit. Extremely foggy and misted a bit but it was still a great, challenging hike. Saw several groups of mountain goats along the way up to and at the peak. The fog did manage to part for about 10 minutes while we were at the top so we could see some of the nearby peaks and the lake below. Down seemed to take a lot longer than up, but that was probably mental because of the weather.

Super short and easy, but very pretty waterfall with a little area to relax and enjoy the view after we did some more strenuous hikes in the morning.

Relatively flat, wide gravel trail. Nice waterfall area at the end. Mostly smaller growth trees in the beginning.

Convenient to Duvall.

We did the hike from the lower trailhead. We lucked out with the weather - November 12th and sunny, temps in the mid 40s, but this hike is such a workout that we shed our coats pretty quickly. No snow anywhere on the trail, a few parts were slightly muddy. The first part through the forest is very pleasant, but fairly steep already. After the merge with the upper trail, it becomes very steep, and very rocky. Our lab is pretty fit and used to hiking, but she was not happy crossing one section which is all big rocks (an old rock slide?). Other than that, the trail is wonderfully maintained - fresh log railings and LOTS of rock steps. Beware, what was supposed to be a 5.3 mile hike was really more like 8.9 miles according to our smart watches - and sure felt like it, too! The views from the top are amazing and get progressively better the higher you go, so it's definitely worth it, but next time we may consider leaving the doggo behind.

Stunning hike! Highly recommend. The drive up is pretty rough but it’s worth it.

beautiful hike! Gotta love up hill!

Definitely a workout! Did this hike on Monday (11/13) and it was relatively busy at the top from it being a holiday. My phone recorded round trip about 12 miles, but I’m not sure how accurate this is. The last 0.5 miles are a grind but the view from the top is worth it. Watch for ice patches, poles are a good idea. When we hiked a group of hockey players were taking up a fire hydrant, look for it at the top!!

Pretty stout little hike. Made it up about 3.5 miles then we turned back due to snow and ice. We had trek poles but you probably want to bring some ice gripper if you intend to summit. Couple spots where the trail was washed out up where it was snow covered, not to hard to cross just be careful. Lots of nice running creeks along the way, which I like cuz I will just bring a water bottle, water filtration/treatment device and collect water as needed throughout the day. Hate packing a days worth of water.

Started right at dawn, ran into lots of snow around mile 3.5 from the trailhead. Fairly quiet on the trail, saw only 10 people and 4 dogs all on my way down. Did the southern peak as well although no visible trail could be found.

A 360 view at the top! First hour is tiring then it actually gets more gradual as you get closer. Today, in November, it had snow about half way up or the last third. it's all packed down though. you don't need spikes but polls are helpful.

This was my second time hiking Mount Ellinor. It was a beautiful hike not as difficult as the last time I hiked it .We had a great day and beautiful views Definitely recommend this hike ..

My favorite hike of the year. Lots of snow the last third of the hike. Super sunny day. Stunning.

Worth the drive out for a relaxing beautiful run. You can run easily and enjoy the views or go all out. Recommended for a “recovery run”

very cool and well worth the hike. this was our first actual hike so it's hard to measure it against anything. pretty steep incline but we'll marked trails and plenty of stuff to see. people along the way were very friendly. had an unbelievable time.....yes well worth it. ad thank you to those of you who donate your time to keep those trails looking the way they do.

Great Hike.

The lower trail was really scenic with a nice forest view, I would only do this part once.

The upper trail was AMAZING and very tough during the last stretch of it.. It was pretty hard to find the trail due to the big rocks and the hard incline up. The whole trail had great lookouts. though. The top was really cold, but that was expected. We made the sunset in time.

Definitely one of my favorite hikes ever and I would do the upper trail over and over again

Went up today solo, got spooked for no reason and turned back until I met with another group and they were kind enough to let me join them. It was raining on and off and we ended up crossing through two waterfalls, be very careful with your footing or you may be swept away and unless you're super careful you will likely get wet regardless. I was able to do the whole trip without trekking poles or spikes though poles would have made at least one crossing easier. Today there was 1-2" of snow at the top and it did snow on us towards the top. Really a lovely hike and I look forward to going back in fair weather!

We forgot that daylights savings meant an hour less of sunlight, so we didn’t quite make it all the way to the top, will be doing again :)

A great day hike in the rain and snow.
There are two sections where the water is really flowing. The first one is quite deep, 90% of people turned back and didn't cross it that we saw.
The second one is easy, go up the hill 50 ft, it is only 2 foot wide, jump it.
Interesting easy hike. Can hear the I-90 freeway the whole hike, didn't like that.

I’ve done this hike 6 times now. It has to be done on a beautiful day. Mid-summer is perfect as long as it’s clear. Training is important if you aren’t an avid hiker. Starting out at a slower pace helps make the whole hike enjoyable. Bring a large garbage bag to slide down the many trails. You’re on snow for about half of it.

Good technical trail for running. A lot of gain on the way to the top. Will have to come back when its sunny and clear, nothing but most, rain and the occasional frozen rain waves. There are places snow is either on or next to the trail.

Good well kept trail, first 2/3 is easy, well maintained path. Last night is a bit tougher and can get quite sloppy with heavy rains. Keeping to the left Allows for extension along older Logging roads. The last turn to the cause it’s not super obvious. Fun day hike.

It's a continuous climb the whole way. Never too intense, though. And the views across the valley at the top are incredible. Late October it was cloudy, and a couple inches of snow at the top.

Great trail! Very rainy and foggy, but still amazing views and flora. It is longer than the beta shows. I got kind of confused between the water washes and the trail near the top and my phones GPS was not reading correctly.

10/28/18 Rainy day for a hike but great none the less! We took the new trail both ways. It was longer than the 8.4 mile loop from all trails. Our phone apps all said 13.1 miles, but who knows. It was steady uphill climb, but totally doable. We took breaks for water and snacks. When we got to the rock field toward the top the temperature dropped and the wind picked up. Right near the summit we had sideways rain/snow mix. It was a little scary at times since we were out in the open. While it was foggy and cloudy and rainy most of the rest of the time, it was a great hike! We are planning on going in the early summer again to see all the views.

Very windy at the top but well worth the hike to the top , wish it was much clearer. Started at 7 am and was done by 11 pm .

So amazing! Lake was clear and gorgeous! View of mountain was breathtaking! Already thinking about going again.

Very nice hike. 12 miles round trip from parking lot. It was a beautiful rain-free day in between two rainy weeks. 360 views up top the haystack, from mount Rainier to mount Baker and everything in between. Some minimal ice/frost near the top. Just the right number of people on this trail!
