Went yesterday, easy to drive to and a great challenging hike in the snow. We didn't need snow shoes (we did see other snow shoe prints) but we're so glad we had microspikes with us. A little slippery going down, watch for frosted or ice covered rocks. Poles would've been a nice extra.

My roommate, cousin and I did this trail October 4 through October 7 this year and it was incredible. There had been a little bit of fresh snow on the ground and it got into the teens at night, but was totally manageable. The first day we hiked from trail head all the way to the berg lake campground . It was tough but extremely beautiful. We had great sunny weather and a slight breeze. Day two we hikes a large portion of Snowbird pass which goes around the back of Rearguard and Mt Robson to the Mount Robson glacier and that was another incredible hike. We also did Mumm Basin, which has a great view of berg lake. Day three we hiked down to Kinney Lake campground and stayed here and the Day four we hiked out to the trail head. I’d like to go back someday, because it really was that amazing.

Hiked to the lake today (mid-November) and lucked out with blue skies and milder temps just below zero. The snow starts lower down in patches with some accumulation after the half way mark. Micro spikes and poles very useful this time of year and bring layers for any weather.

Hiked Nov 4. Snow from about halfway. snowshoes not required yet, but spikes a bonus over the boulder fields. Beautiful once the clouds cleared.

Love this hike! We started the trail around 10:30 pm, so can't comment much on the views up. The trail is very easy to follow even by headlamp. It took 3 hours up with overnight packs. Mostly incline the entire way, but only the last km before the lake is technical, and a couple of rock fields. Look for marmots and pikas in the rocks! The lake and glacier is a gorgeous destination, but there are a few additional scrambles that are well worth the time if you like a challenge. Took 2.5 hours down and the heavy packs made going down more of a challenge than up. It's quite a popular trail, understandably so!

This has been one of my favorite trails for years. A beautiful ridge walk, a few easy scrambles and great peek through the eye of the needle just before the summit.

Beautiful hike, fairly easy with a gentle incline. We hiked it Oct 19, 2018 and wished we had brought our spikes, but managed without too much problem to the lakes. We decided not to tackle the summit due to the snow but will definitely return for an overnight this summer. Gorgeous views throughout and very easy to follow trail. The road getting there is pretty rough, especially the last 5k or so. I have a Mitsubishi Outlander 4x4 and it was fine, but I wish I had brought my husband's Tacoma. I'm surprised this hike is rated difficult as we found it pretty moderate. This is a great hike to take more novice beginner types as it's fairly short, 4k to the lakes, not overly difficult, and has stunning scenery and views. The lake was frozen over so we didn't get the lovely Instagram blue water pics, but still a great day out in the Backcountry!! We were also surprised to see two other groups up there with it being so late in the season, but it was a gorgeous sunny day. I can only imagine how busy it must be in the summer!

Hiked in via Kinney Lake Trail and came back on Berg Lake Trail. Went as far as Whitehorn Campground (at 11km) and back in 4:45:00 including several stops (watch said 4 hours if nonstop but I walk fast). Trail is easy to Kinney Lake Campground (at 6.5km) but becomes moderate as you move up the mountain at 9km. There are outhouses at both campgrounds. Even on a cloudy day, the scenary is incredible. Easy to see why it's rated so highly.

Loved it. Challenging if you fear heights but fantastic views.

Fabulous hike. The lake is amazingly beaut and rugged. Be sure to take the path to the glacier just past the end of the lake.

Beautiful and challenging. We went to berg lake in one day and stayed two nights. The scenery is spectacular on a clear day.

We went. To white horn very beautiful. Next. We are going to try. Out luck at berg lake

Amazing hike! Did it mid September, we didn’t have backcountry gear with us so we did the full hike out and back in a day, about 45km. Beautiful all the way! Took about 10 hours with plenty of breaks for our group of 4. The stretch of switchbacks by Emperor Falls is a couple of km’s of some steep hiking but otherwise the 12km before it and the last few km to the lake is pretty easy. Hope to go again and camp next time!
Well marked trail, bathrooms along the way, multiple waterfalls along the way, beautiful views, Kinney Lake is beautiful along the way!

AMAZING!!!!!! One of the best hikes in Canada I’ve done!! We camped overnight on September long weekend and the weather was moody but so beautiful! We could hear the glacier calving off into the water at night which was pretty incredible

An absolute must on the hiker's to do list. Highly recommend to spend extra nights at Berg lake campsite to explore extension hikes, especially the stunning snowbird pass trail alongside the Robson glacier and Alpine Meadows.

A great hike! Definitely not an easy hike. Did with a friend as an overnight camp, so had our packs which added a little difficulty. Took us 3.25hrs up and 2.75hrs down. Was the 2nd week of September and the lake was clouded in and it snowed, temp was hovering around 0 degrees so layers were helpful s when you stopped it got cold quick.

Hike itself is a near constant uphill at most points and a steady pace ensures no burn out (i.e. don't rush it at the easy points as the steeper points will take more out of you.) Take your time on the last 500m or so as it is an open, steep climb along large rocks and slippery gravel.

Too foggy to see anything, can't wait to try again

Straight up and straight down. Heart pumping on the way up. Quadriceps screaming on great down. The last bit of ascent can wig you out if you think too hard. Just stay focused and keep going... it’s so worth it. Breathtaking beauty abounds.

Had a great hike up to the second lake.
She's a steep knee grinder both ways so beware.
I brought my dog and we got through it in 6.5 hours with a bit of a lunch hangout at the wrecked platform.
Met two nice guys searching for old mine shafts and found an old Spear head while hiking this trail.
Totally recommend!

I love steep hikes, and this one definitely satisfied. As a day hike, this took my sister and I 6 hours total (3 hours up, 2 down, and 1 to enjoy the stupendous views at the top).

Even though I did this hike in regular running shoes, I would recommend using proper hiking shoes/boots because of how steep it is. Also, be sure to bring extra layers because it was quite cold at the top.

I noticed lots of people commenting about bugs so we made sure to use bug spray and we encountered hardly any. Not sure if this was because the bug spray worked or because of the cooler weather.

Beautiful, weather can (and did) change quickly though

Most beautiful hike we’ve done. Robson Helimagic dropped us off at Berg Lake cause I wanted to hike with my pup (no dogs allowed over night and didn’t want to squeeze the hike into one day). Gorgeous, varying views all along, just absolutely spectacular. A must do.

The scramble was too much for me and my friend, it seemed more like rock climbing at points. We followed the footsteps at the beginning of the hike (there was some snow and was our first time) which led us way off trail. Ended up taking 2hrs45mins to get past the needle peak/flatiron lake junction. 1hr10mins down. Very easy to find your direction, highway was nearly dead North and could see it from most viewpoints. 10/10 will hike again later this year!

Awesome hike. Took us 2.5 hrs to top of peak. Recommend bringing a wind breaker and gloves for the scramble at the end! Amazing views. Great hike for whole family, less adventerous people can split off and go to the lake!

Hiked up to the ridge on Saturday but got rained out. Came back on Monday and got to the peak. Weather was awesome with no trace of smoke in the sky after the rain on the weekend. Loved the scramble sections, wish they were longer! This trail should be rated as hard because of the scrambles and steep first section. If the Flatiron trail is rated hard in AllTrails, this one is definitely hard. (I backpacked Flatiron last year). Would go do it again! (I don't like that the AllTrails map shows a circular route, thats now how most people hike it and the east ridge looks very challenging.)

This the must do trail! Its absolutely amazing. This is was my second time. I always go straight to berg lake campground. It can be difficult and demanding. as of 2018 Aug 24-26, I do not recommend to go because of the smoke from wildfires covered everything.
