Very nice trail with a good mix of views. Will definitely come again.

This is a good trail when you just want to get some distance in. It’s not too challenging and has enough shade to make it doable on an 80 degree afternoon.
The down side is not much scenic variety - mostly laurel and eucalyptus forests.. I like something a little more dramatic or varied but still totally fine and nice to get a longer hike without a long drive..
I’m not the fastest hiker and this took me pretty much exactly 3 hours.

Firstly, you cannot bike around the lake as the trails away from the parking lot and swimming area are for hikers only. Secondly, there is no way this trail should be classified as easy with very steep grades as mentioned in the reviews and the 1000 foot plus elevation gain. The trail signage is less than adequate and often misleading or missing. Advanced bikers might find this trail more to their liking.

Did part of this trail for a morning walk. Lots of birds including pelicans, a blue heron, geese, and ducks. Very pretty

Great trail for beginner or people with some hiking experience.. close to moderate but not too difficult. If u do the hills starting from west side of the lake towards north and then looping down south on the east side of lake will be better than doing the other way around unless u r a hiker who loves going up grades.. the grade from the east side of lake for a 1/2 a mile is steep.. but otherwise the hike is generally easy to moderate.. great views.. about 9 Miles long. 3- 3 1/2 hrs

Hiked this trail looping the opposite way, which seemed easier in my opinion. Great views, loved the experience, however if you start mid-afternoon there are endless clouds of bugs in the forest areas by the creek. We spotted someone with a dog that was wearing a bug net around its face, and I wish I had done the same. Seems to be large knats, so nothing that seems to bite, but I kept a brisk pace through those parts just in case.

This is a very nice well-paved trail with spectacular views of the bay. Great for walking or bike riding.

Great loop for a trail run. Not a ton of views but a good amount of sun/shade and change in terrain.

I have only run part of the trail but I love it! It is a great workout with some steep inclines. I did get lost a few times but that added to the fun.

Last week, nice one-hour trail!

Majestic lake views, varied terrain, an equal mix of sun and shade, not overwhelmingly crowded and super clean. Bathrooms are plentiful too.

This hike is closer to 10 miles and while it is doable for humans on a 90 + degree day, it is not safe for dogs. I chose this hike because I was looking for a long, mostly shaded trek given the heat. The hike has beautiful views and a lot of shade as described, but I did not expect to find several stretches of scorching hot pavement that my dog and I could not avoid. I would recommend doing this hike on a cooler day or in the early morning. Dog owners beware.

I biked this trail today, I'm new to mountain biking and this was very tough for me. I had a lot of fun and I see myself coming back here again and again to work on my biking.

Lots of shade, gorgeous views and very accessible.

Great place to walk but watch for the bikers for they travel fast on the path.

This is on the easier side of moderate. The first section along the creek is completely shaded and flat. It is a nice ramble. Then, the trail shifts to chapparral as you pass Lone Pine picnic site. It is all uphill, but a gentle incline that makes it easier with patches of shaded bits. The Curran trail brings you back through the tree line and near the beginning of the creek trail. It is a beautiful hike and good for all levels. Nice vistas of the valley and interior of Tilden.

Simply one of the loveliest walks around. It’s amazing to have this piece of nature so close to home. Easy, but there is a relatively steep beginning and end to this trail.

Great, mellow trail. Mostly shaded, some sun sprinkled areas. It was cool and foggy, but burned off a little. Mossy growth, clear wide trail. An easy loop with great birdsong in Spring. Pretty wildflowers and fantastic smells.

A classic Tilden loop. I prefer starting at the Lone Oak trailhead on the North end of the loop. That way you start with the (moderate) uphill portion and end on the downhill.

Grueling but rewarding.

wonderful hike!

This trail is pretty but I do not recommend any dog owners to bring their dogs here because we did not even finish the entire trail and I found multiple ticks on my dog. There is a sign that warns people of ticks but I thought even though I didn’t let her into the grass, that she wouldn’t get any on her.

Relaxing, scenic hike. Forest, wildflowers and views of hills in the distance. Less crowded than other trails in the area

Good civilized trail

Tranquil and scenic. Very well maintained trail and a lot of coverage of shades. It is a very comfortable hike even on a hot day. The 9 mile distance makes it a real work-out.

Love this place! Makes you feel like your in another world. Has good trails to bomb down if you can make it to the top!!

Very nice trail! First of all, I love the fact that it’s dog friendly. My puppy loved it, especially he got to play with some other doggies on the hike too. The trail has diverse views, forest, creek, meadow, and valley view. Most of the trail is well shaded, definitely a great hike on a warm day. Would definitely come back to the park and explore more trails.
