Very scenic 4.5 mile loop around lake. Mostly dirt trail with some paved. I found several places very muddy from earlier rainy weather. Trail should be better maintained in those areas.

Not very clear on the trail markings or parking, even with map.

the hike was beautiful and the Park Rangers or Volunteers were very helpful in getting me to the portion of trail I wanted to be at. I didn't see any rumored "ruins" but the trail has lots of waterfalls, a cool swinging bridge and lots of BIKES. The people on bikes were very friendly but they rode fast and you have very little time to move out of the way. I'd go again though.

Beautiful scenery. Great place for a morning run to help you clear your mind.

got lost again, hiking in the dark

The battlefield area didn’t do much for me but nice hiking trails. Easier trails with nice hike along the Potomac.

Took 200% stock 2018 tacoma trd offroad to this trail.
Awesome trail, mix of lots of lose rocks, rock crawling, water crossing and at the end (BRP side) its just nice relaxed, smoother road with nice view. Mostly easy with few tricky spots (big drop with good size rocks etc) where my passenger had to spot me from outside.

I got stuck in deeper water where one of my wheel got completely submerged, but thankfully I got myself out with crawl control. But there was a jeep that also got stuck in water and flooded engine, but there was heavy rain couple days ago. Hopefully this give you some idea of risk.

Good amount of camping sites, couple of them w/ really nice views.

Took my Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4” lift on 33’s out there to the Blue Ridge Trail two weeks ago. The main trail was a blast with some trickier sections on it that can be avoided. Also there’s shorter alternative trails off the main trail that’ll really test your rig, really narrow and rocky too...scratched my paint pretty good (buffed most of them out). Will definitely be going back soon!

Loved the side trails. Beautiful! Went on a weekday and there were few people.

Traffic noise is a real problem on the perimeter trail.

I run here all the time. Great trail that’s mostly flat and wide enough for multiple people. Perfect family trail and the marina has a carousel and mini golf in the summer.

It was fun !!! Ajsgen1tacoma on the gram check out vids main trail is great for a lifted truck But we found some supplementary trails can really beat up your truck just be careful gets Rocky all in all a great day

Great trail around Burke Lake. Saw waterfowl and deer along the route. Easy access from multiple locations around the lake.

Didn’t quite make it to the outlook because we ran out of daylight but it’s very peaceful and I highly suggest going down to the water. It’s very beautiful and refreshing!

Nice dog friendly trails

It was a nightmare to find the trail (more or less a place to park) but the trail itself is wonderful. Very well kept up. I ran my dogs on the trail and they had no issue distinguishing the trail from the brush. Will definitely be back many times more with my bike and the dogs!

Little crowded but nice and (mostly) out of the sun

Not bad for my first hike in Virginia. The trail is easy to find. Locals jog in the morning or take the dogs to play into the water. If you like going into the “woods” for a while and forget about the city without going too far away, this is a good one. Simple, easy to walk it. If you follow the Google maps line, you can easily find the entrance to the trail and follow it.

If you have iffy knees this loop is great. Very little asphalt mostly dirt and sand. If you are a trail runner great beginning for better things.

Not a bad trail by any means, but little in the way of views or destination goal. Crop field crossing doesn't do it for me, but the covered woods are nice single track. Saw a few mountain bikers, but all passing was safe and in control (just know that this is a very popular off-road riding destination).

I think a moderate rating is proper. I run and bike regularly and I still felt my quads the next day. Worth going back, perhaps next time on two wheels.

It would have been a great trail if it did not go through the townhomes. It was a great walk though.

Nice little loop with some attached single track and the Cross County Trail.

Great trail! We took our kids (ages 7, 5 and 4) who all rode bikes and rode the entire trail! Only a small portion at the beginning was paved (asphalt), the rest was a well established trail (dirt). We'll definitely be returning!

Awesome trail that is very well maintained. Definitely a little confusing when you get to spots where there are other trails connected but as long as you have the map with you on your phone you’ll be good! Good variation of flat, uphill and downhills throughout the trail! Perfect for trail running if you want a moderate trail.

I did well with my 2004 F150 XLT 4wd. No mods, all stock. Only came out with minor marks from leaves in a few spots. Super fun trail and really pretty! Plenty of obstacles and always a way around larger obstacles for the hard out Jeep guys. I'll be hitting it again for sure.

The biking trails look like they are no longer maintained or haven't been in a long time and are in terrible condition. There is also poison ivy everywhere on the trail. Probably best to avoid for biking.

This trail is moderately trafficked and has tons of dog poop all over it. The trail itself is not challenging enough to be classified as moderate. Very disappointed, would not recommend.

Mountain bike only. Hikers stay out. Unless you want us to start ripping up Ramona falls.
