First time actually using the app to record our walk. We walked off course at the river! Stunning and beautiful and peaceful. My hubby has a bad back, so this flat path was perfect. Nice benches along the way, and such changes in the ecosystems along the path. Great for dog watching, all we’re friendly but were off leash.

This was one of my favorite backpacking hikes ever. We camped at Pearl and did a day hike to Dalton, well worth it. All of the lakes were gorgeous and the hike was moderate to Pearl, hard if you go onto Dalton because of the extra distance. I do not consider myself an avid hiker and more casual.

I looooove this trail during all seasons because it's gorgeous and different every time of the year. In the spring and early summer, there's a canal on one side of the trail that my pup likes. There's also a nice wading area along the river. My only complaint with this trail is that dogs have to be leashed. Not a deal breaker though.

This hike was awesome in the fall! The colors were incredible (check out my pics), but the weather was a little iffy with sideways rain/wind. September was the perfect time with gorgeous fall colors. In October or later, I'd expect knee deep snow.

Dog and I did an overnight hiking and camping trip to Spar Lake. The national forest campsite was nearly abandoned for the season. Great views of the lake and mountain. There is a long barely discernible trail along a creek to Spar Lake. This is a hard hike with lots quick elevation increases.

This trail is nowhere near the 6.9 miles listed on this website. Two independent GPS devices measured it as 2.7 or 2.6 miles one way. So 5.4 or 5.6. Nice flat wide trail easy for kids.

Easy hike. Some dead trees across the trail, but easy to navigate over or around. Lots of burned area, but the fall foliage makes up for the lack of canopy. Very beautiful, easy hike

Went with my daughter and my two year granddaughter for her first hike today. She loved it. She loved throwing pebbles in the river. Exploring mosses and lichen on the trees. Saw dragonflies and osprey. Just the best experience ever.

Awesome trail, long hike but gradual climb. We stayed two nights at upper cedar lake and enjoyed the views from Dome Mountain.

Edge of the ‘Rice ridge fire’ looks different than a few years ago.

This is a really great trail especially now with fall colors! Trail wasn’t very crowded but has some spectacular views! Both lakes are really cool and you can continue to a third if you please! Lots of camping room by the lake as well! Follow all our adventures on Instagram @themicrotourists.

Excellent hike that’s fairly easy.. you hike through burned out sections of forest due to the Rice Ridge Fire last year. It is definitely a glimpse of nature’s life cycles. The payoff at the end is a stunning waterfall! Great day hike!

Beautiful moderate hike. Good camping by lake.as well

Easy hike. Moderately used. We only tracked 5.8 miles. The waterfall was beautiful

Fantastic hike. Certainly a tad sketchy in places. At the waterfall look for the arrow pointing up what amounts to a very steep rock slide. Go slow and watch your footing. Bear sign was on the trail so be prepared with some spray and make noise. The lake was wonderful and I could have spent all day just sitting there. I would do it again!

The directions on here were wrong for me. They took me up an old logging road which ended up being closed when you can just go straight into superior and follow the signs off the exit to the trailhead. Getting to heart is easy and then getting to pearl and dalton is a little more intense. Heart to pearl trail is a little overgrown. Keep on the trail going around pearls and the trail to dalton is very visible. I did this as a day hike. Had some fish nibbles in heart, skipped fishing and pearl, and had big fish nibbling and jumping at Dalton.

Beautiful trail. last mile in was the hardest, but with a few switchbacks it makes it very doable!! We base camped at heart lake 3 days and took day hikes up to Pearl lake and Dalton lake, and also to the state line ridge and hidden lake! it was Absolutely beautiful all of it! We camped at the south eastern end of the lake. Awesome spot!! fresh water near camp and goats to entertain us....although they did get abit too curious! Just had to clap and stomp and they scared away...

If you are afraid of heights like me, this is not the hike for you. After the waterfall there are some really sketchy areas in the trail and one area that is very dangerous to pass. I almost turned back at this point because I couldn't see a way to the other side and I was paralyzed by fear. Thankfully, my hiking partner coached me through this section on the way up and down. I am glad that I ditched my pack and worked through my fear, because the lake was beautiful. However, I will never do this hike again.

Easy short walk to Diamond lake and an easy hike up to Cliff lake with just a little bit of elevation gain. The trail is very nice with a couple bridges along the way. Cliff lake is amazing. The water is beautiful and the backdrop is stunning.

Such a beautiful, shaded hike. Will hike this trail, again and again.

Beautiful, rained the entire way but still so beautiful

Beautiful hike this trail 8/26/2018. So worth the hike to see the lake, but we did run into a bear.

Beautiful view. Including drive and it was well maintained and Very accessible

great hike for kids!

Awesome for kids! My toddler had a blast looking at birds, bugs, pinecones, and throwing rocks into the river. Easy gravel/dirt trail. Lots of shade. Minimal foot traffic on a weekend morning. The river is beautiful!

Hiked this trail in late spring. the falls were raging. very pretty and my dog loved the lake.

Beautiful hike, pretty easy. My old St. Bernard handled it well with nice lakes to stop at for him to cool off. A lot of char from fires last year but still super pretty. Falls are worth every step.

Most definitely ‘moderate’ — not ‘hard’. It’s all a steady gradual climb in beautiful forest: lots of shade, stream always close by, beautiful flowers and mushrooms. To me it was all about the journey up and less about the lakes at the end. I should say, lake views were tainted by recent/on-going wildfire smoke. Bottom line: if you’re in the area, DO IT! Totally worth a day of your life!!

Awesome hike. Make sure you don’t stop at the upper lake and make the extra hike up the ridge overlooking both lakes, the views are totally worth it.

If not for the length I’d say it’s a moderate trail, there are very few painfully steep sections and most of it is just a long gradual climb that isn’t bad on the knees. However, I definitely felt it in my legs afterwards so the Hard designation is probably accurate.

Great hike! Mostly flat trail with a lake along the way and a pretty waterfall at the end. Low traffic and we got the waterfall area to ourselves.
