Spectular views, mostly well accessible. Bit crowded at the beginning but the further up you get, there will be less people. It gets strenuous at times, but there are enough places to catch your breath and take in the scenery. Parking is difficult if you don’t start early. Bring enough water and snacks.

Wonderful day on the mountain. I'm old and slow so it took me 5 hours, lots of time to enjoy the scenery and photograph the flowers that were out. Started early, well before the crowds arrived. Highly recommended! even for you "creaky knee" set.

Great trail with lots of views- if you’re in pretty good shape give or take 3 hours with stops (took me 2.5 going clockwise with picture taking). If you have knee trouble or not a typical hiker, plan the recommended time. The first mile or so is high grade, but I feel it levels out nicely after that. No hairy spots, didn’t use poles. Great views of wild flowers and hoary marmots.

The view at the top was good but crowded. My favorite part was the alpine lake near the look out point. The water was so clear and cold. I went in and swam to the other side where there was still snow. Overall would recommend if you are looking for an easy and short hike with a view of Mount Rainier.

Great hike for families and young kids used to do hikes. Bring snacks and do a picnic

There was a point where you think that the hike is done by seeing the lake but then you realize that there’s still huge cliff to hike. It was hard for inexperienced hikers but very self-rewarding. If you don’t bring the national park pass then wait for a 30$ ticket that can be then used for 7 more days in the Rainier area. The lake was unfortunately pretty cold but the hike itself is really good and pretty :)

Beautiful trail with great overlooks. You cross several bridges and there are 2 stream crossings, so waterproof shoes would be helpful (although not required for those with good balance that can move from rock to rock). Depending on your preference, moving counter clockwise on the trail will result in a more gradual, but longer climb, while going clockwise results in a steeper grade for a shorter time. We went clockwise and I would probably do that direction again. We came in July and some of the trail was still snow covered, but doable with standard hiking equipment.

Amazing, had such a good time

Firstly: to get to the trail you have to drive about 15 miles on lose gravel. If you have a small car, you will want to go slow unless you don't care to spend money on issues that could be avoided because it is rough. If you have a car that is high off the ground and has the appropriate tires, then you may not have to go as slow but just be careful. Otherwise, this trail is moderate with some strenuous uphill sections, but the distance makes it doable because it is not very long. Trail is well kept, easy to follow. I did not have any issues with bugs or mosquitos at all. I mean there were just a few of them but it wasn't like there were herds of flies following me, although at the tower I did spray some just a few times. This trail is BEAUTIFUUUUUL. The lakes are gorgeous and it is so worth the effort and the drive!! It is like a hidden gem.

Had a great 5 hour hike. Beautiful views even with the smoke from the fires. Monday wasn’t so crowded. The wildflowers were awesome.

Love this hike. Came here during the peak of wildflower season & was mesmerized by all the vibrant colors. I’d recommend cutting to Moraine Trail (no crowds & best views) & Panorama Point if you have time.

view was socked in but it was beautiful on the way up. trail was well kept.

Went on Saturday 8/4 and it was busy! If you do a weekend get an early start or you’ll be parking way down the hill. Went from Mowich to Eunice to the lookout.

Holy shit, bring big spray. Bust out that DEET! We brought some hippie natural organic stuff and it did not work whatsoever. These mosquitos were of a different breed! Great trail, took my 60 year old Mom and she took her time and had a great day. Picnic at the top and hope Mt. Rainier is visible! Great hike, but bring that bug spray!

Great view! Beautiful trail.

Stunning!! My guy and I had such a great time with this one. Lovely forested beginning which leads up to Eunice Lake. Took a dip in the blue green water and swam with the salamanders. Then up to the top to the Lookout. Wildflowers were starting to pop! The views...jaw dropping. And, we had it all to ourselves! BE WARNED: Bring bug spray, and not a natural one (which is what I wanted to bring). The bugs mean business up there!!!

Hike is great...app is incorrect. Not moderate hike!
W/C access...yes, straight up the paved trail...for a ways..rest is gravel. Beautiful

I hiked this yesterday and it was definitely beautiful. I never got tired of the views. Also, it is a short hike. The whole thing took about an hour and a half with lots of breaks.
I feel like the elevation listed here might be inaccurate because we had to take a lot of breaks and it felt steep. The way there is a little steep. However, I am pretty out of shape and it only took us 50 minutes to reach the lake.
The other issue was BUGS. The flies are miserable. When you are moving they are just a minor problem but as soon as we stopped to take a break they swarmed us. I didn't actually get bit by any, but I had to constantly swat at them. The mosquitos were pretty bad by the shady part of the lake as well.

Beautiful hike. Would love to go back and swim and be more prepared for the bugs. :)

One of my best so far. Beautiful scene. And if you want to see salamanders, go look inside the lake, you will see many of them. There are sooo many mosquitos, flies and bees. Bring bug spray unless prepare yourself to be eaten alive!

One of my favorite hikes by far! Hiked 8/5/18, got to the trailhead around 9:30 am for prime side of the road parking. Bring bug spray because those buggers are RELENTLESS!! But the views at the top at magnificent. Second time doing this hike and besides the road to drive to get here I have nothing but praise for this magnificent trail. It’s a pretty hard steep hike but totally worth it at the top. Make sure you get up on the fire lookout and see Rainier in all its glory. Day was beautiful and we spent about an hour at the top just taking into the view.

One of the best hikes in the park

I have been on a lot of pretty trails and this one was just plain hard. Lots of steps and tons of flys. The view was nice but you could not get to the lake like I thought you could. It was not long but took a while because of all the steps but if you stopped flys were all over you BAD. So if steps are hard for you this is not a good trail for you.

great trail but was a rated as moderate is actually a strenuous hike according to the national parks society
Average time on this hike is 4 1/2 hours
Would recommend for a clear day can’t see anything in cloud cover
great wild life wouldn’t do without a lot of hiking experience and gear
Would recommend professional hiking gear because without it is quite dangerous

Definitely a beautiful hike. You are able to get so close to Mt. Rainier and the Nisqually Glacier that it feels like you’re on it. The only issue is that on this app, the trail is rated as moderate, and at Mt. Rainier, they rate it as very strenuous. Moderate and VERY strenuous are two VERY different things in my opinion. I planned to hike this with my dad, almost 50 and with a bad knee, because it was “moderate”. Once we got there though, it was evident that it was harder than described, so we had to change trails. I’ve come across many trails like this on this app, where they’re rated way easier than they should be.. So be careful when selecting, and do your research. Otherwise, this trail is gorgeous.

The scenery was amazing!!! One of my fave hikes!! We went for a swim in Eunice Lake, and the water temp was perfect!! Downside? Sooooooo many mosquitos!!!! We had bug spray with DEET and still got eaten alive!!!

Great scenic trail. Easy to follow, passes 2 lakes.
Road up there was long but in good shape overall.
Go early to beat the crowds.

Bugs spray is a must, great hike though with amazing views. You might want to consider what you drive to get to the trail head parking. 20 plus miles of rough gravel road in a rental car was rough
